Fak, just noticed that FIBA decided to change play-offs scheme and now it'll be A+B groups and C+D all the way till the final... Basically, two separate tournaments in one... Dumb decision, but they did it all they could to keep USA and Spain away from each other till the very final, put one in group A, other in C

Terrible draw. Now we have two tournaments.

The strong teams on the one side are:
Spain
Serbia
France
Brazil
Greece
Croatia
Argentina
Puerto Rico

^^The USA or any other team of Group C and D will not play against any of those teams until the final.

USA
Turkey
Lithuania
Slovenia

These are basically the stronger teams of the second tournament. Easy ride for the USA until the final. Good chance for Turkey, Lithuania and Slovenia to reach the semi's. The bad news is that the latter three can't get any further than the semi's, because USA will be there.

They ruined the whole championship for a Spain vs USA final.

Groups A and B are crazy as hell and I'm so happy about Finland's group drawing. It couldn't have gone much better in my opinion. It was either Argentina or USA, so rather get owned by USA, but the rest of the teams I feel like Finland has a chance against.

Not to mention a sloppy presentation made by the presenters and the people making the draw itself.

FIBA screwed it all with new play-offs scheme. Kinda mixed feelings regarding Lithuania too. Yeah, we got lucky with bein' on weaker side, but at the same time it's quite obvious that there's no chance for final as USA is on our side too. Shitty system

Wow. Yes, Groups C and D seem to be clearly weaker as a whole than Groups A and B. Very favorable draw for us.

Finland actually has a chance to reach the second round.

Australia has good chances as well, especially if they have all their good players in Spain. Also, DR, Mexico, Finland, Ukraine are decent teams, I don't see why Turkey or Slovenia should be considered as strong favorites against these teams. Finland defeated both Slovenia and Turkey last year in Eurobasket. A semifinal between USA and Lithuania is the most possible scenario but I think that there are many teams which could make it to the quarters.

I agree that the first half of the bracket seems way tougher than the second half. Spain shouldn't feel safe enough against a full French squad.

Greece's first goal should be to play some good basketball after 2 failures in a row in the last two years. We ve got the potential to beat every team in the second group but first we need to find a decent coach and organise our team in a better way.

The game between Lithuania and Slovenia will decide which team from Group D will make it to the semis vs. USA. The second place team will be a 1/4 exit.

Bar injuries or important cancellations ofcourse. Turkey is only an OK team when they don't have home court advantage.

Some of the top-ranked teams, like LTU, GRE, TUR, AUS, ARG, SRB, might not be as strong as they have been in past tournaments. So there might more upsets than usual. Teams like IRI, PHI, DOM, MEX, KOR, ANG, FIN have a chance to make some noise in the tournament.

we are lucky cause ,if we were in group a i think we will have zero win :) now we can have chance to next stage... ı hope no hedo turkoglu or semih erden in our team... omer asik, enes kanter, kerem gonlum, furkan aldemir, kenan sipahi, ersan ilyasova, emir prelzic, birkan batuk... we need to go with next generation...

Australia has a pretty good chance of making noise, I don't believe they lose more than 2 games in their group and on any given day they could snag a win vs either SLO or LIT.

As for Finland they can be the 2nd seed of their group!!!

Group B is even because I don't think Argentina is as dominant as they were a few years ago, Greece is an * but Croatia is coming up strong. With Puerto Rico unfortunately you never know. They can beat USA by 19 but also lose to Ivory Coast! I certainly hope we can get the best possible team and win some games in Spain. Coach Olmos has done a great job so far and all the players are engaged.

As for Group A, I think that's the toughest group of all. Brazil can be a very good team if they can bring their best players. As for the 3 Europeans, oh boy.. they are great... I think France's top 2 teams are on the same group with France and Spain...

Serbia this year will have much stronger team compared to past 10 years

We knew the US and Spain would be separated going in but still the US got quite the draw. Out of the teams in C and D the only teams that give me pause is Lithuania, who have a habit of playing us tough, and maybe Slovenia if they start nailing threes.

The danger here though is I’ve always felt that it’s better for United States team to be tested early, an easy first round could lead to overconfidence which would be disastrous against a team like Lithuania.

While there are no groups of death, A&B are certainly a bracket of death. Spain is looking at a first round knockout round match likely against Greece, Puerto Rico, Argentina or Croatia. Not a walk in the park by any stretch.

I think the big winners here is a team like Australia, if they bring their full roster they should at least get to the second round.

Also I noticed nobody’s mentioned it, but we’re looking at Greece vs. Philippines. I’m not sure IBN can survive this.
