Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Lets see what KQ brings to KBL. I believe skills-wise KQ is Peace Choi Lite.

But going back to KBL, they are also suffering from talent-drain like the PBA, and there are no assurance that 2 of Korea's best players will ever play in that league in the next years or so:

Lee Hyun-jung ( BLeague)
Jun Seok Yeo ( Gonzaga, US NCAA )

it’s because of pay and they need to be drafted. pretty similar with our league of ours..

Korean basketball is very top heavy in terms of talent. Their elite players are D1 level or higher. But since basketball isn't popular and does not get as much support compared to their other team sports, the drop-off of talent from the elite downwards is steep.

Just imagine they have less than half of our population and then they have so many sports prioritized higher than basketball. The pool to get basketball players from is very limited.

Imo, allowing more imports would be good for their league.

I don't know but I have to disagree with this. For me, we have a surplus of talents that could have been D1 players. However, since basketball is very popular here, high school and college teams here are competing and able to compete for the services of those talents. Therefore, whatever room for growth these players may have, they will never reach it because of our basketball ecosystem.

I mean look at how guys like SJ, RJ, Rhenz, Gutang and Carl are outperforming their counterparts in Korea. Kai is probably tons better than essentially all Japanese bigs outside Hachimura and Watanabe when he was unleashed. Give Filipino players the right ecosystem to grow and we'll see what happens. Tab sees Gilas a top 15 if they do things right while Rajko believes that Gilas can form multiple national teams.

I was strictly assessing SoKor and their top-heavy distribution of talent.
