is he injured or something? the thing is Kai is not injured which makes it a head scratcher

Martin originally committed to play collegiately for Vanderbilt before opting for a postgraduate year at IMG Academy. He averaged 20 points and eight rebounds per game at IMG Academy. He is now playing for the Houston Rockets in the NBA..

Essentially this is the issue, from the time Kia left the skills factory ( around April 2020) ? , if you knew in hindsight that he would not play a single official game in an unrestricted age "open competition" , and may even skip this June FIBA .. can anyone honesty say that is good planning and decision making for his camp?

You stated that don’t know a certain player player (NBA prospect) that has had zero real game official experience against men(Not age restricted) before being drafter in NBA and I gave you the name of Kenyon Martin Jr..

apologies i get your point, but my statement was Not a single "game " and is an "NBA prospect" . in context for Kai, it's the super long prolonged absence from any "real games" , which is really not good planning.. of course hopefully he plays for 36ers.. but i see no reason if getting better is the goal , for him to be playing with Gilas when he can , especially if wala naman syang laro or team during the schueled games in June to August

FIBA qualifiers in Qatar last February canceled due to COVID-19?

Most of us here are longing to see Kai play for Gilas in next month’s FIBA Asia qualifiers and OQT(to see his improvements). But baka madisappoint lang ako, so I temper my expectation nalang.. :o

Can't blame the reactions of many here. Recently Kai announced his commitment to play for Gilas but, with a few weeks left before the 3rd window, there are no news of him returning to join Gilas.

But iba parin dun sa NBL.. Honor your commitment kumbaga... What if Kai suffers injury w/o contract dun sa NBL? E di purnada career nya.. Contract negotiation first... I'm OK for Kai if he can't play for ACQ while it's 50/50 for OQT.. But in main FIBA Asia tournament, Kai will assure that he will play there... We need also to concern in his career, not just for Gilas...

then he should publicly announce it, as pinoys are expecting him to play next month. and he always says in interviews that gilas is a priority when he signs a contract, so is it now a mere lipservice?

so you prefer scrimmages with college players than a fiba game to impress the coach of 36ers?

As a fan, I prefer the fiba game.....however, if Im managing Kai's career, it is better to do scrimmages with top caliber tall professional (Prosper . Stoudemire)/top american college players in Miami...I bet that's the preference of the 36ers too

If you think of it, the plan was for him to play at G League, then train in Miami, then play at NBL...then get drafted at NBA ----so lid plan

However, in between, he had to go to the Philippines, got quarantined for a total of around 20 days, and in the end did not get to play in the Fiba qualifiers due to covid and did not get to play n the G league

Fast forward to the present time, Kai is training in Miami and has already been drafted at NBL

If you are the manager of Kai, what would be best for his career

1) check first with 36ers what would be their preference
2) Option A: get quarantined for 10 days, practise with filipino college players, play a game with a lowly Indonesian team and 2 games with ranked 31 Korea team, get quarantined again for another 10 days - high probability that Fiba game may get cancelled again due to covid

Option B - continue practising with top calibre tall professional/american college (NCAA) players in Miami, get advise from top trainers and former NBA players like Stoudemire etc

lol that’s not the preference of 36ers..

amare it’s one time thing..

I'm gonna be honest. I was disappointed we didn't get to see him play against men in the Gleague. I thought it was a mistake to go home when he's got a live contract with Ignite and there was a high possibility that the FIBA games are going to be postponed anyway and he never got to practice with the team (remember he came in late and had to be quarantined too). But the silver lining to me is that at least he's committed to GILAS . And surely he's got time to practice and play with our NT since the current NBL season is still ongoing. But apparently it's up to Tab and to the IATF if they're going to make an exception for him. 3 weeks of practice is too long. 10 days of quarantine without practice is too long. It's almost June na and still no news..

so practicing/scrimmages with miami with the so called “pro players” is better than facing a jokic in OQT? horford and KAT? Ratliffe? and take note it’s the same manager or management who said “kai will play for RPNT In Asia cup qualifiers, OQT and Asia Cup” Then all of the sudden that management (EWP) kai is not allowed? not in the plans? did they just cross out those plans? and why they delete that post? because they know they’ll receive some feedback from pinoys

amare it’s one time thing..

So...the preference of the 36ers is for him to practise with filipino college players instead of tall american players in a professional training program????

Amare is just an example...you have a few ex NBA players there that could be practising with him like Prosper etc.

I think even he doesn't announce this one eh we should understand that this is how Professional basketball works.. Remember Nicolas Batum last 2016? He didn't play against Gilas in the 1st game of OQT here because he still not signed a NBA contract before commit to France.. Thus, He negotiate first with his NBA team before play for France.. He played only at the KO rounds of OQT, Days after he signed a contract with his NBA team there.. We all know this.. We should understand that.. Getting/secure a contract first before play or commit in either PRO team or in a national team...

I'd accept that if that's what EWP said. But they hadn't announced anything yet except the practice and quarantine thing. And look at the date. Until now no announcement pa din. Should the team just move on and accept that he's not coming? They could just said so. Instead of playing nga pero nakasimangot

3 wks of practice is too long? but whenever we call up pba players for gilas, 3 wks of practice is too short? so you prefer a 2018 asiad team type of 7 days practice?

Even EWP will not announce on this one eh we should get that logic.. No need to wait for announcement.. Sign a contract first to secure his career there.. Baka ma Ping Excimiano si Kai... He can't play for us in ACQ due to late arrival while it's on Tab's call if he want to insert Kai on OQT.. Unless Kai's NBL negotiation for a contract there will be faster then we expected.. That 14 day quarantine in Australia is the turning point.. If Australia has not that kind of restriction then Kai can make Gilas camp atleast 10 days before the ACQ...

It's alright to beg off if it really isn't alright for him to play. What's disappointing is that they're passing the buck to Tab and the IATF and everyone is still hoping he'd play. He could just say he wont play and life moves on for everybody
