I am probably the 3rd biggest fan of Kai here behind Sir Peezones and Astigram

No, I am #1 but for clarity's sake, among equation gamit niyo?

Guys, please stop arguing with Mathematician, Astigram, and PeeZones. They're obviously from a different plane of existence and Kai is definitely the Beyonce of PH basketball (according to PZ) and is better than Hakeem, Wilkins, and Tim Duncan combined.

Tab should honestly just give him an automatic Gilas slot even if he arrives an hour before the first game vs Indonesia despite not having a full competitive match vs established pros (because he's obviously better than ALL PRO PLAYERS and at his current level, better than Jokic). He'll definitely dominate the NBL and put up quadruple-doubles every game

ride the bench then break his confidence? ignite debacle 2.0?

I think the same, his team already has good bigs. It shouldn’t break his confidence though, it’s a tough league and his weaknesses will be exposed but he’ll have to face them eventually if he wants to get drafted.

Yes true. Kai is a fighter naman. If you watched his FIBA games and WC games you can see him breathe through his mouth and being hacked by defense pero go hard pa rin.

if it will lose his confidense then it speaks on his mentality. it would show just being impatient. and if it does which i hope it doesnt happen.

People just want to see him play, that's all. 2 years is a long time for a basketball player especially at that age.

2 years is actually a long time......he should have focus to play in Ignite instead of coming home to see if he could play in Gilas....the rest is history....has he learned his lesson???....should he come back again to play for Gilas and risk not playing again for whatever reason (all games are cancelled again due to covid.....note that even the gold standard Singapore and Taiwan are now undergoing their second round of lockdowns).......it's a gamble but maybe he should focus on training continuously (without 10 + 10 days quarantine).......how much risk would he take if he goes back for Gilas to play just for the 3rd round???

To me it's quite a simple decision to make, his only concrete schedule in the near future is the 3rd window and OQT, this June.
So it absolutely will be prudent that he practices with the team (Gilas ) that will be playing in those games, before hand. Whatever the period 1 to 4 weeks .. of course the earlier the better.
Practice in the US preparing for no specific games and with really no team. That's things u do in the off season in summer , it's about time he plays "in the season when actual games that matter are being played for a real team. With a team that relies on him to be able to win.

2 years off season working out , is just silly.

“It’s hard for me to judge his nine minutes in today’s game. As you have seen throughout this season, this is not a league for big men. This is a guards’ league,” Shaw told Firstpost. “Most of the teams we have here have at least four guys on the floor between 6’3” and 6’6”. The biggest guy on the floor a lot of the times is 6’7”. Maybe 6’8”. They’re all fast. They can all shoot from the outside. They can all handle the ball. That’s not something that Prince is accustomed to facing. So it was hard to put him into a lot of the games, because you want to try and put him in into the game in a position where he can succeed. With our numbers being down, he got a little bit of time today. He’ll get some more time on Saturday. Hopefully, it’ll be a good experience and he will understand what he’s going to need to work on to get better if it’s in his intention to try and make it to the next level.” - Brian Shaw

HAHAHAHAHAHHAAH.

You are so funny sir.

But on a serious note, I only have Kai as a possible late first rounder in my prediction.

Speaking of it, I need to update the list on that thread.

2 years off season and yet he got a multi-year contract with Adelaide 36ers....cant argue with results......I bet Kai's management also asked the 36ers if they prefer Kai working out with top caliber tall players in Miami (even if just scrimages) or to practise for one month with filipino college players (with only 1 player above 6'9) and maybe playing a game with Indonesia and 2 games with Korea .

Tab lost his leverage when Kai already got a contract in the NBL...if he didnt have any contract with NBL nor any other top leagues, then Kai's only option is to practise with Gilas for 1 month to show his wares....playing now with Gilas is more of a risk

As a basketball fan, of course I prefer Kai to playing with Gilas

so you prefer scrimmages with college players than a fiba game to impress the coach of 36ers?

In what way Tab lost his leverage to Kai when the latter signed in Adelaide? Why playing for Gilas is already a risk for Kai?

A lot here failed to recognize that kai is a LEGIT SOUGHT AFTER NBA PROSPECT. Kai was paid twice in a span of a year and plus numerous endorsement deals. We should already expect that he wont always be available. A lot of players before were withheld for petty reasons like parks, fajardo, tamayo, gs etc.

Kai was always committed to Gilas and was never primadonna. He was also not pampered he had been grinding eversince against much tougher competition all the time. It just that Kai will have a lot on his table moving forward and Gilas will be just one of them. Kai will only be available during offseasons in his career.

One thing positive with kai making it big will be that PBA wont have the monopoly of our bball landscape. Eventually our talents would explore leagues beyond our shores. Most leagues schedule were fiba friendly.

I really don't get what some of these posters are implying. Is three weeks really a long time to practice? Prioritize the NBL team first? The current NBL season is still on-going. Next season won't start until several months from now. You guys want Kai just doing training drills and scrimmages for several months up until the NBL season?

I feel sorry for this kid. A lot of people are treating him like a divine being at his young age. I worry what might happen if he fails to live up to their expectations..... I also see a lot more of excuses and blaming SBP and Tab if that ever happen like what's going on now this early.

For context, the United States 2019 FIBA World Cup composed of lesser known NBA stars team trained for almost a month
August 5-8 Scrimmages of team Blue and Team White in Las Vegas
Aug. 13-15- Training at LA-Honda Center
August 16- Exhibition game with Spain
Aug. 19-24 -Training in Australia
August 22 and 24- Exhibition with Australia
Aug. 25-28 Training in Sydney
Aug. 26 - Exhibition with team Canada

this high expectation gave Kobe Paras depression and panic attacks, Kai, as great as he is, is by no mean on the level of Andray Blatche (peak andray) that could easily be inserted to the lineup despite the limited training time, and to be fair Andray is already familiar with Chot and Tab's system , whereas, Kai has yet to play for Jong/Tab

NBL preseason start Sept , (4 months from now).
The NBL actually has an agreement with FIBA to allow national team members to play for country , even while season is on going , they have FIBA breaks, and here wee are in the off season.
Gilas and Tab actually like that Kai is contracted with an NBL team

Almost 2 years without real games. He's bound to be real rusty when he plays.

Remember when even Paras' biggest supporters turned on him when he went back to the Philippines? I worry that Kai's going to receive an even worse backlash if he fails to play like an all star with the way he's being hyped

Actually Kai makes a good job that they should take a NBL contract first before he resume his commitment in Gilas.. He and his camp needs security and with having contract with his mother ball club will be less worries for Kai's camp in case injury comes to him..

They still have the Ignite money di ba (plus allegedly the endorsement money). I don't think they'll have money problems as Kai's going to continue receiving offers even of its not from NBA teams.

This is speculation , and simply not the situation..
The root of why Kai may not play this June is something else.. ( not something really to discuss in public)

Gosh , it's been more than 2 years now, and the kid has had zero real game official experience against men . (Not age restricted). I do not recall anyone of notable prospect being in a similar situation
