Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

The problem with Edu is he is injury prone and he plays a position that is the most physical in basketball. He really needs minutes restriction. His B league team milked him for his contracts worth. Playing him heavy minutes. The resulting injury was not surprising. Any PBA team who would draft him would want to maximize his playing time. Unless he talks to the team and demands a minutes restriction. If he gets this I think this is good. The only problem is the physicality. How will he bang with the Beau Belga’s of the league?

If he gets drafted by Perapirma he'll be forced fed to bulk up so they can ship him out to an SMC team ASAP. Belga isn't the only problem, everyone even the guards are allowed to be more physical.

If health was the only consideration, Edu going back home to Bristol and playing pro ball in the UK is way better than the PBA. They have an in-season Cup tournament like in football, their champions play in BCL FIBA Europe and EuroCup (where it's a massacre when they play the bigger Euro clubs) and those with a suitable stadium (2000-seat or more) have qualifying for FIBA Europe Cup... all with just 10 teams! That's just a maximum 30 games from September to April. Heck, even the PBA motoclub experienced a piece of the UK action when they played against Pinoy rec-leaguers over there.

British Basketball League where Nick Nurse once coached a team?

Dwight Ramos re-signs again with Levanga Hokkaido for the next season.

TBH, I really don't see the Ravena bros., Parks and Dwight to play the PBA for the rest of their careers. Also, SJ and Alvano are also looking happy. Same can be said with Brickman.

The salary of British league is not appealing… as per this link, The salary of professional ballers there are just range 10k to 70k USD (550k to atleast 4 million PHP) per year (yes, per year)…

https://www.josecolorado.com/blog/British-basketball-league-salaries

meanwhile, the salary cap of Every team in British league is just 250k euros (or 15 million PHP).. atleast in PBA reportedly have 50 million PHP (as per report in the past) salary cap, although we all know salary cap there were not followed…

https://www.hoopsfix.com/bbl/britis...ry/#:~:text=How much are British basketball,y ear%20British%20Basketball%20League%20salary.

remember, Basketball in Britain is not popular, their popularity status of the sport there is like Cricket status in the Philippines.. it is not exist… the reason why AJ Edu choose here to play in national team competitions because there is no chance to have a professional career there in UK… even Netball is more popular than basketball in UK.. there is no TV coverage there, no sponsors, no exposure, etc…. last 2022 Eurobasket, only UK has no TV broadcast deal among participating teams there… so if want Edu to play in UK, it will not happen…

Did you even understand the entire article or you just googled "British Basketball Player Salaries" as if to source an opinion after looking for a number thinking I wouldn't read it myself? Did you even read the part where they have a soft cap and aren't in any obligation to max their cap because a team's two highest paid UK players aren't even counted in the team salary cap?

Tagalugin ko na sa'yo kasi malamang hindi. Ibig sabihin niyan, hindi binibilang ang sweldo ng dalawang pinaka-mahal na player na taga-UK sa isang team.

You have to establish if Edu is foreign player which he actually is by FIBA (and can demand upto $170K/year salary) and his actual worth to a BBL team (of which the cap is $345K, not $250K) knowing that he was getting minimum $100K for 1 injury-ridden season in Japan, if he can sneak in a British National, which he is too. Anyway, the point being that on just basing it on playing less so as not to end up being damaged goods for FIBA... AJ Edu might consider playing in the UK where he is actually from. I think the problem is you overrate Filipino basketball players too much when the lot of them will end up broke if not assistant coaches by the time they're done playing. Believe me, he'd be better off as a role player in the UK lasting years than a flash in the pan in the PBA where he'll definitely get injured after 3 seasons with how his career has turned out so far.

Fucking hell, these Brits are smarter than they smell. Imagine if a PBA team can only have two Php420K/month local players and spread all Php50M/year across the entire squad? The problem is these prima donnas in the PBA also count bonuses as if they deserve profit sharing even the owner's business sucks but they win a championship.

It will be curious to see the fate of the pinoy imports in the KBL come next season. Besides Ethan Alvano, SJ Belangel and maybe Justin Gutang the other players (Dave Ildefonso, Juan Gomez De Liano, Joshua Torralba and Ava Nava) are most likely to be let go of their respective teams. Tamayo though looks like he is leaning towards playing in Korea.

Tamayo's game seems suited for the KBL.

Torralba has been out of kbl since last december pa. Dont think he even played for Sono. He was replaced by alex cabagnot. JGDL seems like he's pba bound, so is Avan Nava. Dave i think needs a new team.

Still lower bro… did you here any professional ballers overseas considered British league as their backup destination? Stop hating PBA… even they have some problems today.. it still good option for our ballers… Jeron Teng has higher salary than most of best local players of British ballers… Teng is a benchwarmer in SMB…

Tamayo's game seems suited for the KBL.

The Koreans would love him and he can play his much prefered 3 position or a combo forward, definitely he will be a tall perimeter shooting big man for Gilas with a stint with KBL.

How good are the teams in The Asian Tournament? My assumption is that, it is MPBL level? I mean, Gerald Anderson is playing in one of the teams..

Seriously?WTH:confused: Geo did ok,not shy in banging with the big guys and I think his billed height of 6'10 kinda exaggerated, that's probably with shoes on,probably just a notch or two over 6'9.
