Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Yes, when you are an athlete, you need to be aware about the "assumption of risk".

Another thing we can fault her is Abando's own coach,he plays him in the SF position,at his size he really have to jump for the rebound, blocks on taller and heavier players,I have been noticing that in some instance he ends up on the floor alot, yes it makes Filipino fans and vloggers happy but the law of average says sooner or later he will get hurt,I just didn't think this bad,I thought the usual sprained ankles, knee or elbows in the head.At 6'2 I thought his coach will switch him to SG,where he matches up offensively and can defend players closer to his size easily with his athleticism.

They could have implemented a neck guard a long time ago,but the players themselves thinks its unnecessary.

Yes that's why they charged the guy with manslaughter. Players don't think it's necessary because lifting the blades towards the neck should never happen.

Getting jailed for something that happens in a game is no longer unprecedented.

Everytime the courts intervene, the sports loses something thru changes that people who hate the sports want to implement. With Abando's case, there's no way they can prove tha there's an intent to harm him,Abando at his size has to jump really high for a rebound or a block and I have been making some notes that he falls on the floor more than usual, since he's guarding guys that are taller and bigger. He should have been playing a posiion for his size at SG,I have a feeling that whenever he challenges the bigs, that one of these days he will land akward and twist his knee, ankle or an elbow on his head, little that I know it was worse. We know that Filipino fans love that a 6'2 skinny guy goes way up to grab the rebound and blocks the taller bigger guy,but the law of average is against him, even if this didn't happened,I can't imagine him colliding with big bodies on the court will not left him unscathed.

Great game for oczon

Wow. 23 pts and the game winning shot. What a 2nd game. Yes, glad to be proven wrong. It seems he has improved in his final season in CSB compared to when I last saw him with the Strong group. Is he playing PG or SG? I am assuming SG as I didn't see any assists in his highlights.

He really improved the playmaking aspect, courtesy of CCT playing him the ball more. His numbers may seem deceptive with poor shooting percentages but thats because of the jordan treatment the other ncaa teams did to him. Since gozum was underachieving and coteza struggled througout the season, they knew oczon will do his best to step up. Give him a look and he'll cook the living daylights out of you.

saw jordan heading last month here in adelaide in some beach here.. didn’t ask for pictures nor ask questions because i wasnt sure but confirm it was him because of the tattoos

I understand his point but the quality in the PBA is suspect so you would rather let these kid play overseas, for ineligibles however I share the sentiment, if you wont even bother trying out for residency, dont bother coming back to this country again.

He really sounds like auditioning for the job,he talks at both sides of his mouth,he wants them to stay but yet talking about a few that can play overseas.

Won't be surprising at all if he lands an active consultant gig. I'm seeing an SMB stint in the next few conferences, or even Ginebra if CTC is named as full time coach of Gilas and steps down from coaching in the PBA.

[Fact check] The grandfathers of the KBL secretariat are not happy due to the performance of some Filipino players.

They didn't even expect Asian quarter players to outmaneuver South Koreans.

They have a strange sense of pride.

The Korean university Basketball Federation strongly opposes the KBL's Asian quarter system.

Officials at the Korean university Basketball Federation argue that the appearance of Filipino players hinders Korean university players' career paths.
