This injury reason is such BS of an excuse. Kai risks injury even for those 5-on-5 scrimmage he has been doing in Miami.

There's no such thing as no-injury-risk game. If they don't want to risk any injury to Kai, ikulong nalang nila si Kai sa isang kwarto & keep him out of the court until his first game with the Adelaide 36ers.

If he can't play, don't force him but Kai and EWP should have told SBP straight up that he will not participate. I think that's more acceptable than saying that he is committed tapos it's already May 23 and he is not yet to be found in the Philippines.

If Kai can't make it, Gilas should bank on Koaume, Chiu, Cariño, Baltazar, Go and Rangel as bigs.

My only issue is with SBP. Puro kasi demanding and always just ulterior motives. Why announce your demands even though Kai has a lot on his table and it is not easy to arrange his schedule. I dont think that a subpar gilas outing for kai this window would really be crucial. He will have plenty of time to showcase his wares to NBA scouts till next year. Holgrem and Mobley doesnt always produce monster numbers against highschool opponents. Only idiots would demand monster stats always.

Ah yes. Stop all the Kai negativity but you're free to spew all these non sense about SBP having ulterior motives and demanding Kai too much. I got news for you... three weeks of practice with Gilas before the tournament is NOT being demanding. All other gilas members aside from Dwight has been in the Calumbubble for more than a month now while Kai is still yet nowhere to be seen or heard from after giving out the statement that he will play for Gilas this Qualifiers and OQT. Don't you think that Kai will have an even better outing if he gets more chemistry with his teammates hmm?

What schedule? He has no tournaments to play at. The next NBL season doesn't start until a few months from now. And you forgot Kai announced that he will join Gilas himself. All other players doesnt have commitments. Kai on the other hand has tons of commitment. You should also read the insta comment that GILAS JUNE SCHEDULE was not part of Kai's original calendar. If they said they might play, they could also change their mind. EWP eventually would always issue statements. I dont blame them. They dont owe us anything. We are lucky that Kai still consider to play for Gilas. A lot of players were withheld to play for BG and Gilas for various reasons. Even tamayo was most of the time unavailable before.

First of all, they've given their word that Kai will play. Second, injuries can happen whether if it's a scrimmage or a tournament. Kai also needs real games and the longer he misses on those, the rustier he'll turn.

Basketball scrimmages,usually don't involve very physical defense,its more a showcase of your offense,in this tournament he has a target on his back for sure,as we on those young Korean NCAA player,someone in Gilas will lock him down,knock him down and physically try to intimidate him,no difference what the opponent will try with Kai.

His agenda is to win. In order to do that he needs a fully prepared kai sotto and gilas. tab is just answering the media questions with honesty. i don't recall him steering the conversation.

We dont have issues with winning. I dont think Kai's camp want to loose. Kai is in the US ano yan davao to manila lang? Kai is also committed to a lot of things. Pumunta nga yung bata nung February kasi commitment yun. Just dont put undue pressure na parang si tab lang dapat or SBP ang masusunod. Last Feb naghugas kamay lang naman si Tab and Panlilio. They should just negotiate with Kai's team and be quiet about it. Dont stir things and setting deadlines kasi mahirap ang panahon. Provide private planes and arrange that things would be better for Kai. Di din madali pabalikbalik sa US and phil these days. The risk is too high and if I am his parents I would not participate if it is not part of the initial commitment.

Tab is saying that if kai would be late he might not make the team. Tab wants to let kai stop his prior engagements and just drag his ass to please Tab.lol Kai should cancel his trainings with Remy outright. Based on Tab's timetable Kai should be here first week of May. 10days quarantine + 2-3days travel + 1month Gilas training (first game is June 16). This is what i'm talking about... Tab is a good coach, no doubt!! But on handling players inside and out, in locker room stuff, etc... I don't think so.. This is why many PBA players don't want to play for Tab.. He should not put pressure on Kai on when he will come.. He will prioritize his career first before anything else, especially he sacrifice last time for nothing... Naninigurado lang ang bata.. Many telling here that he can't perform if he can't join Gilas on 2 week practice.. What? Mataas ang IQ ng bata, He knows what to do.. He can pick up naman where he left off.. And besides he's a generational talent for us.. He can give you numbers anytime.. If i were pick who will left off between Kai or Tab.. I will left off Tab than Kai.. So 3 weeks of practice is unreasonable? And practice sessions with Ignition or whoever is more valuable than practicing or playing for GILAS? Do you want Kai and the cadets to perform badly in these games? You know it would be better to just beg off than playing half assedly. The team sacrificed a lot already for some handlers to screw it up

For me, since he’s going for 2022 I wouldn’t care about stock, just focus what is best for development and being a better player. He has another whole year to get better. Asia cup for me isn’t really that important but the games against Dominican Republic and Serbia are better competition.
