If what your insinuating is true (prior commitment) then most if not all of the blame should go to both EWP and SBP (MVP group) for not thinking this through properly considering the travel difficulties and the proximity to G league games. They obviously were not looking at the bigger picture (NBA scout exposure and G league development.)

Well with the way events have turned out recently and Kai still irrelevant in mock drafts I even doubt he will be even drafted late second round. But I'll hold on writing his 2021 NBA chances off until I see what his camp's next plan of action will be after this setback.

I don't know, regardless of how you spin it, SBP, MVP Group, and EWP really fucked the kid's chances. Sorry for the coarse language, but it's how it is.
EWP was hired to get Kai drafted and let him earn in all possible way. EWP was not wrong in entertaining all offers because that was their job. Ignite was signed prior to the second window and with all the hindrances during this time they should have let kai play for ignite. This was a non-bearing window but a victory over Korea was too enticing for the SBP boys. It would make headlines and would please their boss.

SBP, though part of the problem is just a convenient scapegoat for this huge setback, EWP, Ervin Sotto and even the kid himself are liable as well. So thus media and those freaking vloggers who hyped the kid too much thus putting all those super high expectations which became a distraction
I also mainly put the blame on SBP. This has been such a circus and guess what, makakapal ang mga mukha niyan and they won't learn from this lesson. They'll just find the next wonderkid and fuck his chances too.

This is so sad,on youtube videos not a single Filipino commenter,lamented that the kid would have been better off if he went to college,even for 2 years.He will get the benefit of a college education,the experience to be among his peers,be the big man in the campus,have a gf,be in a team that would showcase his talents with a patient coaching staff.In other words,they took away what he could have been as a person,years from now he will put the blame on everyone but himself specially the pressure from a whole country helll bent on getting this kid in the NBA.I hope Cholo and other Filipino talents are taking notes,the Gleague and other pro ball clubs are not the only way to the NBA.
In the NCAA at any given time,he would have faced,other NBA ready talent game in,game out and the most important thing is for just a brief moment he would experience some semblance of a normal life.
Reading all the comments after Ignite released their statement really shows how emotionally invested some are in seeing a fully homegrown Pinoy make it to the NBA and some have even pinned the blame on Kai himself for depriving them of that chance.
But isn’t it possible that despite all of what has happened so far that the Sottos are already happy with the money Kai earned? If he ends up with USD100,000 (after reimbursing EWP) since he signed a guaranteed contract that’s more than enough already for them to start life in the US, no idea what their visas are but I’m assuming both parents can look for work there. Moreover Kai can still pursue his basketball career whether in the US or elsewhere.
If you look at their situation this way and not just with NBA tunnel vision then we should at least be happy for Kai. I mean how many of us at age 18 had a USD250,000 contract? If the support for Kai is real then let’s show it unless it’s not Kai but as I said above but “OUR” own dreams to see a 100% homegrown Pinoy that matters more.
Anyway, I keenly await what EWP and Kai has to say before I offer my POV on his chances of playing in Europe or here in Australia.
It is whole of SBP not just tab but all of them. They were too focus with their chances against Korea and their 2023 preparation. Have you seen the narrative will Gilas again defeat Korea? Last time we won was 2013. Too good of a story for SBP but not as good for Kai specially that the window was moved to another date.
