Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

This is the second time that an aussie podcaster afaik had commented positively about Kai's athleticism and mobility. The first one was during Bogut's podcast.

They seemed contented with Kai's athleticism. I really think that Kai is an above average athlete as compare to all white and asian 7 footers.

You would only feel disappointed if you would set the benchmark to Howard or to black super athletes. The Jokic and Porzingis comparison has been said countless times but the athleticism part were very pleasing comments coming from those aussies.

I feel Australia is the 3rd or 4th strongest team in the Wolrd if All Players available in each country.

1. USA
2. Spain
3. Serbia, Australia, Argentina , and France (I feel they are in same tier)

Kai to NBL Australia is a welcome development.

I think if Kai will be successful in this league. NBL will scout more in our country.

But first things first, Kai should dominate or atleaast be solid in Fiba Asia.

But for Korea whose weakness was always been a dominant big. I hope Kai can have a huge breakout game

If we're talking about the exposure in the Australian NBL, technically this is the make up of players

57% Australian
20 % New Zealand
20% American
3% Asian
Of course I'm rounding of %

So essentially competition exposure is good

The regular full season like exposure has helped kiwi players

Now think about this scenario what if the PBA had a similar set up meaning

20 % bigs mostly American
20% Asian import forwards / or former African foreign college students
60 % Pinoys mostly 1, 2, 3

Question would the year round exposure with guys like Baltazar forced to play 3/4 , and not mainly 5 make us better

hmm its 2 days after his bday, and there's no clue he is preparing to come back because he is still training. i dont think he is going to play in the 3rd window

Maybe they're just being careful and don't want a repeat of last time when the games were canceled.

The blowby isnt alarming. It is normal to get blowbys. Kai these days doesnt really scout his opponents tendencies on offense. He gave prosper the baseline which was also prosper's strong side. The adjustment should be that Kai deny the baseline and let prosper dribble using his right. For sure mahihirapan si prosper if he opted to go right because he is left handed. Easy adjustment madali lang dapat yun. Just give prosper the right side always and deny the left. That is what Kai needs to learn. During BWB he also gave the baseline to a player whose strong side was his right and same thing happened. It resulted to a blowby. Pero yang mga ganyan need lang adjustments and scouting opponents tendencies. Kai should also need to be mentored by a defensive big na mautak para he will be superb on defense.

Hiring american bigs fulltime will turn them into imports—meaning majority will be their team’s featured player and games will become 1on1 games of these american bigs. It would be understandable if pba and its fans would not want this. A solution for that is to put a salary cap for those american bigs to regulate the talent and allow local bigs to compete. This will then put a need to publicize these salary cap which, as we know, is impossible in the pba.

This is alarming if GIlas will play him at 4 all the time,he can never keep up with 6'9-610 agile PFs,heck even Japeth do this alot against the Asian centers. If they really want Kai to play more than 3 years in the NBA without injuries, then accept that people who really tall are have more feet and knee injuries in the NBA,specially people over 7'2,giants are not meant to play very long at that level.

In case you didn't notice, it wasn't the "Peenoise" who kept bringing it up. It's not always the "Peenoise" fault.

Of course it's not always but we can only control our side.

Regarding the clip. Prosper got him good but I wouldn't really put too much into it since we didn't see the whole game. Even Gobert mskes a lot of lowlight clips and he's considered elite

I wont chastise my own people specially when we’re the one at the receiving end of cheap talks. And the incessant usage of the peenoise slur is irritating.

With regards to the blow by, it’s really something kai has to learn from and I’ll leave it to his trainers.

If kai can keep up with US highschool pace, he can definitely can keep up with pro ball pace. Youth bball is more faster while pro is more deliberate and in spurts. Defense is more on read and positioning to be able to halt offensive players path. It was obvious in that clip that he gave prosper the left baseline and Kai's right foot was forward in his defensive stance. He also tried to swipe the ball and it didnt help. Kai could have sealed the baseline and widen his feet while moving his right foot further back. Kai is too cerebral to not get it in time eventually. He just needs to be mentored by a good defensive player. Jokic and Marc Gasul arent the fastest players but their reads and stance defensively were great. It is all about positioning, right stance and good read on the situation.

^^ also not worth the effort for a pick up game. That’s one video that piqued my curiosity. I’m not that worried.

Yup, his feet placement during that prosper jab step was terrible. It should be that his feet should be outside prosper's and not inside. It didnt help that he tried to poke the ball. Kai is a great shot blocker but he really needs to improve his defensive stance. His feet should be way apart so that he could easily change direction.

He really needs a defensive coach to mentor him. I think Kai could emulate Gasol and Jokic. He is even quicker and athletic than both of them.
