What does Jose Alvarado have that none of our players have?
defense..
plus speed, dribbling, strenght etc. basically everything, it takes special talent to reach the nba

This is how the NBA counter small ball these days. It will somehow become obsolete with the arrival of wemby and other bigs. Zion and Giannis has been so dominating and the NBA will need able bodied bigs to stop them. Despite the trend GSW still doesnt know how to integrate Wiseman on their team because they have an ex guard coach. Same thing is happening with Brutus who was a guard in his playing days.
technically OT, but wiseman isn't good in the NBA sense. not sure what people are waiting for. he is an athlete with NBA body. thats about it. same as Marvin Bagley. good enough for the NBA, no doubt. but he isnt even a good starter.
How is he not good? He is a 21 yr old and excelling in the gleague. GSW wants a center who just rebound and screen while one who could space and run. Wiseman cant space the floor so he is not fit in their team and he is not used to playing utility roles. A lot of teams will pickup wiseman if GSW will decide to trade him and he will have a better career with other teams.
ok, lets make it simple. without the foresight if he will get better, purely how he is right now, how many teams will start him if he moves there without removing whoever is the current starting center? i wont even go with the all stars. are you picking him over Capela? Robin Lopez? Steven Adams? Sengun?
maybe, we can consider him over whoever is with Washington or Charlotte maybe Utah? but then, those are guard heavy teams. he will have to develop skills that will enable him to play with these guards.
so, I admit, he is good enough to be in the NBA. but it seems people are expecting too much from him. he'll get better no doubt, how much? ewan. if he becomes an all star good for him. until then, he ist good enough compared to other NBA centers(starters).
He may be lacking in the read and bball IQ but he has a lot of other strengths. His game IQ would improve only if he constantly plays and GSW needs to be patient with their 21yr old center. He is like young Japeth and he needs the right coach to guide him. To connect it with Kai, Kai needs to improve his strength and it will gradually come as he ages. Every player has their own weakness and it is up to the coach on how to mitigate those concerns.

This is the big picture issue (for Gilas sake ), assuming our NP is Clarkson (which is a lock) and not a center like Kouame.
Our legit 2 bigs are limited to Kai and AJ , who are averaging like 10 min and 5 min respectively. Which begs the question how do we rely on them to play like 20 plus minutes in the World Cup.
Alvarado and chris ross might have same level of defensive intensity its just tgat joses offense is good enough chris isnt.. jason castro has elite three point shooting and speed but not enough on defense..and think they rrceive more than alvarado can get if we factor taxes and ageent cuts, lodging and everything
A better question would be, What does a JJ Barea, Campazzo, Yago have that our Filipino guards don't have?
Paul Lee tells it through his experience back in 2014

lets look at this like a rpg character, our guards may have the same skill set as barea, pozeco or campazo but our guards are just level ten while their NBA counterparts havee attained max skills on every attribute.
you could credit them being exposed to higher level competition at a young age as one of the main factors for their advance skills.
So a guard needs to have the combined skills of Jayson Castro, CJ Perez, Chris Ross and Scottie Thompson.
What he's lacking is what the Dubs really need. He does not have to space the floor because Looney, Draymond, Bogut & McGee don't. It's not wise to sacrifice Steph's prime and their proven playbook for the sake of Wiseman's Development. That's why there is the GLeague. Jordan Poole has been in and out of Santa Cruz prior to the 21-22 season but look at him now.
Wiseman hasn't played a lot of basketball since HS. He was injured early on his collegiate career, played a game and was suspended before turning pro. And he missed a lot of games with GS. He needs to shake off his rust and adjust to NBA speed. Even though it's not looking good so far he can still turn it around. GS needs someone who can help them compete while Step and co are in their prime. Maybe flip him for someone who can contribute now?
