Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

well, he can pull a Heading on getting drafted, not sign, then going to a different country.

That too, all he needs is to prove that he is eligible as a local with Gilas and he'll be eligible to play overseas lmao

Stupid logic, players obviously who are invited are the one's who are entered and eligible to be selected .
What kind of foolishness is it to include next stars who aren't even consideration to be drafted and expect NBA executives to invite them to the combine (for what? That's a wasted invitation and vote, I don't even think the NBA will even allow teams to invite a player who's not even entered eligible for the draft. If they could then they could invite Victor and Scoot this year to the combine .
Stop you foolishness Peezones, you're not fooling anyone

Simple logic only those who are eligible to be selected should be counted if they're invited to combine /camp or not. Littierally zero next stars were not invited, who were eligible entered draft to be selected .
While Kai who was entered was not invited (period)

Hmmm..Interesting. Shows that the NBL Fans MVP is real lol https://sports.inquirer.net/486230/wsb-street-to-co-present-one-night-only-with-kai-sotto-down-under

WSB Street and Coinchella in cooperation with the Adelaide 36ers are thrilled to announce the first-ever ONE NIGHT ONLY event with rising National Basketball League (NBL) star Kai Sotto on December 4 Sunday at the Netball Central Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney, Australia.

The main event with Kai Sotto will commence from 6pm, followed by an exclusive meet and-greet and photo opportunity with VIP ticket holders.

WSB Street (World Supremacy Battlegrounds) is a lifestyle dance brand from Australia. WSB Street will provide the pre-show entertainment at One Night Only with Kai Sotto. Some of WSB Street?s recent international dance champions include KNB Ultra (Bulacan), Electro Groovers (Quezon City) and Squad Up Kidz (Cavite) from the Philippines.

That's interesting. Does Adelaide have the biggest Filipino community in Australia? Wasn't it Sydney? I may be wrong.

If my assumption is wrong, then has the Adelaide community started warming up to Kai? Or actually like him already despite what international forums have to say about him?

I can just picture the hater (the one who uploaded Kai's jersey as a doormat) squirming in his seat whenever Kai plays home games. It's not a good look when you're shouting negativity towards your own race lol. Absolute crab mentality.

Sydney and melbourne has lots of pinoys than here in adelaide..

Good to see Kai having some semblance of consistency, stringing together some good games. I think he’s crawled his way into the main rotation by his recent plays. He stays in this 15-18 mpg role, he’d be just fine. No way to go but up for Kai.

Indeed

Actually I agree , Kai's in a good situation with CJ and the 36ers , he's settled into a solid rotational player with consistency of what to expect from gsme to game. We shouldn't take for granted how good a situation Kai is currently in, it's not a given that if he moved elsewhere that he would be playing better (more minutes possibly but not necessarily better )

Well that's no thanks to my namesake CJ lol

Credit to all the supporters, aussie commentators(Liam,Corey,Andrew Gaze), aussie youtubers/online forumers and whatnot who called

the attention and made a valid arguments for Kai to be given more playing time.

Waiving Randall and losing 5 games when Kai wasn't part of the regular rotation or is not playing

all these contributed to pressure CJ to give Kai Sotto major role. I think he said it in his recent

post game interview that he talked with Kai and he is giving Kai the defensive anchor of the team

which Kai is definitely delivering with flying colors haha

Don't take it for granted, CJ is still the coach who had to make those decisions , it's to his credit . The main adjustments are not actually around Kai's playing time , but they're about a more balanced attack , ball movement, more defenders and usage of the bench (more players)., it's not only Kai that is playing more , in fact actually others like Drimic have a more pronounced impact. improvement. Let's not exaggerate you can't be the main anchor of defense playing 14 min, yes Kai is the rim protector when he's playing in limited minutes, but he's not the the main anchor in defense of the team (That's an exaggeration, and I know those might be superlatives from CJ)

CJ is an egomaniac and will definitely lose his job just like the Brisbane coach if he did not

humble himself and heed on people's calling for Kai Sotto more playing time lol

Analyze will always promote things that is detrimental to Kai.haha here is an ex NBA player and a coach that believes that Kai is a NBA level talent. Wass only needs to put Kai in a perfect situation. If Marc Gasol was not transferred to another team from FC Barcelona, Marc would not have his breakout season that leads to his ticket to the NBA.

Also, what do you expect from CJ who was a run and gun slashing guard. His preference would always be a gameplay that is similar to his playstyle. The good with this is that Kai will be train to improve his defense while he waits for his offense to shine.

Drmic might be a pesky defender but he doesnt change ADL's overall stature as a team. kai changes both ends of the floor when inserted.

Majority of those next stars who werent drafted and who were draft and stash doesnt come near the resume of a 20yr old Kai Sotto. That combine invite or whatsoever isnt important. Kai's signing with Wass is way more valuable than any invite.haha Draftexpress putting Kai outside top 100 and then Wass stupidly signs such player is really mind boggling. It is either wass is joke agency or DE was full of BS.

@Anal Kai was hailed by FIBA as the next Yao and Minnesota is playing two bigs at the NBA these days. A heir apparent to Yao will have a place in the NBA eventually. You could replace all of Wass for stupidly signing Kai. With the emergence of Wemby, a young yao specially the slimmer version would have been so valuable and dominating in the current NBA.

PLAYOFF NBA TEAMS right now need elite bigs of center and power forwards and inversely related is the bottom teams have no valuable bigs in their roster:

East
1. Celtics - Horford/Williams
2. Bucks - Giannis/Lopez/Portis
3. Cavaliers - Allen/Mobley/Love
4. Pacers - Turner/Smith
5. Hawks - Capela
6. 76ers - Embid
7. Wizards - Porzingis
8. Raptors - Koloko/Juancho Hermangomez

West
1. Suns - Ayton/Landale
2. Nuggets - Jokic/Porter
3. Grizzles - Jackson/Adams/Aldama
4. Pelicans - Valanciunes/Jaxson Hayes/Hermangomez
5. Trail Blazers - Nurkic/Grant
6. Jazz - Markannen/Olynk/Walker
7. Kings - Sabonis
8. Clippers - Zubac

Timberwolves and Mavs have solid bigs also. They are #9 and #10
Magic have no chemistry and banchero is a ball hog. But hopefully they get Wemby next NBA draft lol

Bottom teams have small ball center/pf and/or have no elite bigs in their roster haha

Just my observation lol

I've been intermittently following this topic, and if I may say so, I believe Kai Sotto will be a formidable force when he ultimately develops into a 23-year-old mature baller.

For reasons unrelated to his actual skills, he might not still be able to make it to the NBA, but he has the potential to develop into a world class talent. Too bad a lot of Filipino players mature slowly when it comes to basketball, both physically and mentally.

Can you avoid calling analyzed "anal" thank you..

What 3 years of lack of expected performance does (Trajectory)

What 3 years of lack of expected performance does (Trajectory)

Tell me if this sounds familiar... so much perceived theoretical hype potential, but cannot live up to expectations.

Since entering the league in 2020, Wiseman has consistently failed to live up to the potential many thought that he had when he was drafted. It hasn't always been his fault--he did miss an entire season due to injury after all. But even when he has been on the court the results haven't always been impressive

At this point, it's pretty clear that Wiseman isn't ready for high-level NBA competition. He gets outworked by players he should have a physical advantage over, seems to struggle to fit into the flow of the Warriors' offense, and offers none of the defensive promises that a player with his abilities should theoretically provide.
I'm not alone in my skepticism of Wiseman's potential -*Sean Deveny*of Heavy Sports cited one NBA coach who believes that Wiseman looks in over his head and that his relegation to the G-League will continue for quite some time.

""You can?t have him out there with a big role with the second unit because he is not good enough to carry that group. What do you do with him? I don?t think they know, so he is going to be down there (in the G League) because at least you know he will be on the floor.""

-*Western Conference Coach on Wiseman

Deveny would also cite Steve Kerr reiterating that he is still a believer in Wiseman's talent, but what is the head coach of the Warriors*supposed*to say? "No, we completely messed up this pick. He's not at all the player we thought he was going to be"? That's not something he can say - at least not to the media. (Reminds me of CJ, what is he to say? OR what are execs & coaches to say to media)

NOTE TRAJECTORY IS NOT TALENT RECOGNITION (e.g 1st pick or Ignite invite ). don't confuse the 2

I saw a Schonny Winston interview on One Sports which confirms that Balti cannot understand English well. Maybe this is why he doesn't get much playing time.

I believe the case of Wiseman is more similar with Bol Bol and Markkanen, great talent but really unfit for their former teams. Wisemen could really flourish on a different team (Hornets,Knicks even Lakers?lol) The warriors style of play is not for everyone, i wouldnt go as far as saying that Kevon Looney is a more superior player than Wiseman, its an issue of team fit more than anything. I suppose other teams have inquired about him
but are unwilling to let go of any assets thus just waiting for Wiseman to be waived if things dont workout for
the Warriors. But for sure Warriors would want some ROI for such a high pick

Well thats a huge yikes on him getting any overseas prospect, i think that if he couldn't even learn while still in la salle, i doubt he would ever be good at it.

The Spurs refused to trade Jakob for Wisseman.
They rather trade for a future pick or Kuminga, who are at least have a good chance of playing at the NBA level
