Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Landale's improvement so late in his career is actually incredibly rare , remember he was a bench warmer for the Spurs last season. And now at 27 years old with Phoenix he's playing well .
While some may say cause he got PT , but that's the thing you don't just get PT , unless your showing the coach what you can do in practice. CJ already disclosed why he can't give Kai more minutes (reported to season unconditioned). . We can rationalize all we want why he's getting less minutes , but at end of the day , NBA scouts rarely almost never look at undrafted players who are not only not starting for foreign teams , but who's stats are not improving from year to year rapidly. Note the biggest expected jump is from Rookie year to 2nd year (this is expected), it's not happening for Kai. Kai has to be a starter and be an all NBL candidate to be noticed by NBA teams , if he can't do this over an aging and defensively weak DJ in 36ers , this speaks volumes..
For sure the centers like Seagun in Turkish league had to compete with better centers to get minute over , and they did to get noticed

While the Landale case is rare, one thing going for Kai is he spent the early part of his development in the Philippines and obviously that hampered his growth to a certain extent. That combined with the G League fiasco means, at least to me, that there is a chance for Kai to take a leap now that he is in the proper environment to succeed at the highest level.

That is true , his last 3 year's 2020 to 2023 are really less from ideal (development wise for critical 19 to 21 yr old period), hopefully it 's not totally detrimental and he can still recover.

His time in TSF was alright (other than it changed his classification from International prospect to US NBA draft prospect) if he did the Mojave King route , NBL 1st then Ignite it would afforded him time to develop before forced to enter the draft (auto eligible)

I'm pretty sure CJ won't let Kai be the starting center and end game closing center

I look at CJ and all I see is an old dog who will not accept to learn new tricks simple as that lol

Great coaches are not afraid to experiment and stick with what's working and shun what's not.

CJ is a coward coach that has been very clear just by the way he speaks haha

Anyway we all know what's gonna happen after the NBL season ends for Kai Sotto haha

For sure he's going somewhere else unless CJ will make amends to Kai and his team this season

Tim/Chot > CJ

Kai has an old school game(Shot Blocker that you stick in the middle). If anything, if Kai was born 20 years ago Id be very confident that he'd be drafted by the NBA.

I disagree my friend haha

You can actually switch Kai and Japeth in the low blocks and perimeter on offense and defense

Kai is a decent perimeter defender..yes not elite but better than an old DJ.

Kai and Franks can be the Kai and Japeth offense and defense that I'm seeing

Heck even the better version of it. It's just that CJ is lazy thinker lol

Old dogs will never really try to experiment new things.

If I'm the coach I won't hesitate puting DJ off the bench

And with regards to who's going to play the closing game it will all depends on how the games unfolding haha

Yes DJ can score but so as Kai plus defensive presence

Not hard to see from someone like me looking from outside.

You know you will only get to see clearly a picture when you look at it from an enough distance than when your eyes are 2 inch away from it lol

Kai is mixing it up; sometimes he's hard hedging and sometimes he's doing drop coverage. He even helped trap Jordan's ball handler twice.

You clearly didn't watch the game. Kai is mixing it up, sometimes he's hard hedging and sometimes he was doing a drop coverage. He even help to trap the ball handler of Jordan twice.

If it was 20 yrs ago, Kai wouldn't be forced to develop modern skills and still be a slow methodical big. Its a better fit for his skillset considering his relative lack of athleticism.

I think Kai is Athletic, he even jumps higher than Wemby. I think what he is lacking is motor.

Whatever happened to Verano? Wasnt he supposed to be the first Pinoy import to play in KBL?

Anyone with decent bball knowledge would laud Kai's 5th window performance. The very thing I admire was that Kai is playing more composed and less erratic this time.

One thing is for sure Kai Sotto was better than Japeth, Kobe Paras and BPR at the same age.

James Wiseman, the Golden State Warriors second overall pick in 2020 will play in the GLeague haha

That's a sophomore player and a lottery pick back and forth to GLeague

Talk about development and playing time in a "SMALL BALL TEAM" when you're a big or a center/PF lol

Definitely, you need a career break and alignment of the stars to get going however you started your basketball career.

Because what matters really is how the journey was and how it ended haha

Good luck to Kai later..hope he be given significant playing time and major role by CJ haha
