ur not giving enough credit.since the qualifying games by window started, the pba halted games/have extended break every window. ditto for d 2019 wordl cup. ngaun lang naman hindi kasi d pba season was in the bubble (or preparing for one) and sbp has d gilas pros at their disposal.

What about the 2019 FIBA World Cup Gilas team disaster as our team was given only about 2 weeks of training?

Bro, I've already commended in my past posts the PBA for its sacrifice during the 1998 & 2002 Asian Games bound RP teams, then the RP-san miguel team in the mid-2000's, and the Gilas 2 & 3 exploits from 2012 to 2016. Those were well prepared RP teams which was made possible becoz of the sacrifices by the PBA.

Besides weight and height increase, has anything changed in how Sam Froling plays?

Because if not, then I'm positive Kai will do well in the NBL. Like 10 pts 7 rebs per 30 mins kind of well.

d 2019 WC was a disaster for many reasons. the lack of full-time practice and preparation was least of d factors.

all pba-rp teams stints in major tourneys were disasters actually except for 1990 (acceptable given the cramming, yan ang talagang weeks lang ang prep), 1994 (not enough talent), 2013 (successful), 2014 WC (competitive and won a game), and 2015 (partly successful).

I think as long as CYG is in the helm, medyo malas ang NT sa mga major tournaments.

Idk about Froling’s improvement, but Kai might need an injury to one of the starting bigs to have a pathway to significant minutes. I am optimistic he can achieve, even surpass, those stats if given 30mpg of playing time.

I agree wholeheartedly.

NBL Australia (Research)

1. There are currently 9 teams in the league. But 1 expansion team will be added the very next season. Making it 10 teams.

2. There are 28 regular season games each season. 14 home games and 14 away games.

3. Top 4 teams will advance to the semifinals.
First and Second Seed will have homecourt advantage in a best of 3 series. Then the winner of both series will face in the finals in a best of 5 series.

4. Usually, the regular season starts in early October and end in Mid February.

5. Usually, a team will have 2 American Imports.

6. Next Stars Program allows Nbl Teams to sign an overseas nba draft prospect. (Lamelo Ball, Rj Hampton)

7.Special Restricted Player Program allows Nbl teams to sign asian players as local.

Is this right Silent Killer????

Wow. Their Format is awesome. More games. But rarely conflicts with Fiba.

teams can have 3 imports. adelaide has crocker, brandon paul and pinder as imports..

BTW, speaking of the clamor for the PBA to syncronize its calendar with FIBA competitions, this was done in the mid-2000's under then PBA commisioner Noli Eala. I remember PBA back then was reduced to a 2-conference per season format while having its off season during the months of July, August & September. But as soon as Eala was forced to resign as PBA commissioner, balik na naman sa dating schedule ang PBA & was back again to a 3-conference format.

Here's my take: PBA had been wanting & still wants to have anything to do with the national team representation for FIBA tournaments. It still wants to ride with the Gilas bandwagon, but PBA is not willing to make enough sacrifice to send a well prepared National team for FIBA tourneys. But to its credit, nag sacrifice rin naman yung PBA for the national team's sake several times. The last was in preparing for the 2016 OQT.

they are willing but they are finding it hard to get quality imports, hence they usually have games during offseason of those leagues. imports will prioritize other leagues first than the pba mainly because of the import salary cap

If the PBA is going to expand, that means more regular games, why not just go to 2 conference, with the second conference an invitational one year and the next year one import conference and on the off season they can adjust that too.I would rather have an invitational every year,so that fans can actually gauge their favorite teams and players skills against international competition.

I am wondering why Pba is not considering Invitational tournaments. (Are they?)

And if we have invitational. Who will we invite?

I prefer european/american teams. But it is a long shot

So maybe Strong Asian and African teams will do

I remember the last time we had a invitational (mid 2000s i think, under Noli Eala), we got a mediocre Serbian team Novi Sad who only went here to hunt girls at Pasay and Angeles. And they were way out of shape since its their off season. In fairness the Korean team (Yonsei) was decent, while the Chinese team and the Philippine team (that Cebuana Lulhlier team that lost to the Paranaque Jets) were terribad

It will be fun for the fans,to see their favorites push to the limits and hopefully overcomes it.I would like one team in Asia or Aus/NZ and one European team,or an all Asia and Australian team, with the PBA employing the 2 import quota.

Yonsei, you mean Yonsei University?

Also I don't think we need invitationals in the PBA, our teams get scrims from Korean teams for example.

yup Yonsei University, this was in 2003, with jilin (China), Yonsei (Korea), Novi Sad (S. korea) and Cebuana Lhulier-RP Team were the guest teams
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_PBA_Invitational_Championship

WTF the guest teams combined for 2 wins (Novi Sad and Cebuana with 1 each

And the following year when Eala implemented the 2-conference season, they had the University of British Columbia in Canada and a selection team from the North American Basketball League as guest teams in the Fiesta Conference (Imports height limit is 6'6), the 2 guest teams were seeded in a single round quarterfinals which is split into 2 groups, both guest teams went home winless

I think because during that time, our PBA did not make enough due diligence to invite the right teams. Most teams brought here were college teams, who I think were not even 3rd best (i assume). Maybe they have the thinking that PBA is a good league but not strong enough to bring in the more stronger teams. Ayun, ginawa tayong pangtraining ng mga bata nila.

PBA doesn't do due diligence period. Long hair and company are content to wallow in mediocrity so as long as they're the big fish in a small pond named the Philippines. It's alarming when Youtube accounts find Filams better than SBP and PBA can.

Sshhhh...not too loud..lets not make it too obvious...if they invite solid-contender teams from any other part of the world it might shatter the illusion of invincibility of the "Bayan nang mga Superstars"...especially the madlang fans of the SMC teams. Lol.
