Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Actually had this conversation with Kevin Braswell, (all time leader in assist in Georgetown and a Euro league and NBL player)

He told me how critical it is to have a reputable good agent to get an opportunity in the NBA, , understand this , especially if the agents other clients are stars in the NBA, let's not fool ourselves if Giannis wasn't a star , no way will his brothers get an opportunity. It's similar with agents who represent multiple clients with stars.. just like any business, if an agent has done a team a favor (e.g convinced a star to move to a team) an agent can ask a favor and say for my other player (a fringe player) can you give him.an opportunity to play in summer league and join preseason and training camp . And if you like him, no promises, sign him..
Thats a huge opportunity, and it was arranged by the agent, because of who he is .. as you can see it matters a lot just like any business.

so essentially Kai's agent and EWP are sleazy salespeople with a misplaced sense of stature. Poor Kai. Perhaps we should tell all prospects not to deal with EWP.

in short, they tried to budol/ hustle Kai's way into the NBA, too bad no one bought it

Why did they changed agent again? I remember people were hyped when it was revealed that Goodwin was his agent

This is worst!

Broadly speaking, the suit "contends that Bell’s relationship with Malone and payments to Beasley’s mother were 'intended, ultimately, improperly to induce Beasley into executing a player agent agreement without competition from other agents.'

In another note some function from the forum is missing for my browser, any idea why is that? I'm using Brave Browser.

Blinded by money is his reasoning. LOL. Following Henson's blanket statement KG, Lebron and Kobe were also blinded by money when they didnt pursue college and went straight to the pros. I mean the real KG ( Garnett ), Lebron ( James ) and Kobe ( Bryant ) not the pinoy ones.

Also, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson also didn't finish their 4 years, and decided to enter the draft. So they must be greedy too

obviously QH, PBA and SBP are too foreign about the idea of player’s playing abroad..

studies can finish later in life.. lots of athletes are doing this..

You can even earn and get your degree WHILE working. This is not uncommon nowadays. QH is just a boomer, and trying to put that "Stay in School" narrative.

pretty shitty plan. they went back with their style of kai doing workouts instead of doing competitive games. good lord.

Its so sad watching him do the same agility training, test for NFL big men,I'm betting that an NFL big man can outrun him in 40 yards, beat him in the 5-10-5 shuttle,3 cone drill, this is why young athletes in US HS,play in 2 or 3 different sports, all year round, different type of speed, agility and strength training.Kai's movement at his age looks like an old man moving.

FEU and Ateneo were fine with their players leaving early, though.

As for the other schools, I dunno yet.

Also, no one complained when college players decided to forego their remaining years of eligibility to join the PBA draft.

Also, isn't this good news for people complaining about the limited slots in varsity teams (although it was more for these people due to FSA's)? Now that players are leaving earlier to pursue careers abroad, slots open up for new players to come in.

and of course PBA/SBP will be pissed on will navarro like how they’re pissed on jordan heading..

Hot take: based on how he played under Coach Chot, he will not thrive in the PBA anyway. It's actually best that he play for a team that both sees more value in him, and is a fit for how he plays the game (i.e. none of the PBA teams)

Jordan finished his degree when he was already in the NBA.

I actually agree with this take. He's not fit for the PBA. He'll just be looked at as a hustle four, and there are plenty of beefier ones anyways. He won't have much of a place there.

That said, he better develop his shooting. That, and his lack of shot creation, in my opinion, is why Chot benched him in the Indonesia game.

he will have a lengthy career outside PBA..

QH lack research is showing, even the all time leader in 3 pt fg’s made finished his degree just few months ago..

Interesting take. It's similar to how some NBA players who excelled in the 80s and 90s can not excel in today's game and vice versa. Partly explains how Navarro's value was not discovered while in San Beda (and in the hand-to-hand-combat style of NCAA).

This may continue a trend of our players more suited for the modern version of basketball to take their talents elsewhere.

It also help that he found his b@lls while playing for Ateneo.

Why did they get a shady guy like him for an agent?

Well it's not like his management group EWP does not have a reputation of cutting corners and wheeling and dealing behind the sceenes, remember the all star fiasco and then the Ignite fallout (conveniently realising that Kai hadn't finished high school pala before joining Ignite LOL, these past incidents don't go unnoticed.

Remember Kai was being presented to US NCAA schools in 2020 as eligible (finished high school in 2020) to be able to enter College in August 2020. Don't tell me that is not shady practice .. like what can we believe is true coming from their camp?

Wow. Just wow. No wonder they didn't even consider the NCAA route. He can't get to college without finishong highschool

This isn't just an agent problem. There's also problem with his parents who seem to pimp him to agents for the money

Wasn’t the plan was to finish HS in the US? that’s why they “paid” to get into TSF? looks like the reason he didn’t finish his stint at TSF was because they signed up with Ignite.

ewp want to cash in that quick, which was when "kaiju academy" is being "constructed" lol
