LOL I would get assassinated if I engaged YouTube or Facebook users , with my identity fully exposed.
One of the reasons I was active here is I was supposed to be anonymous., but for whatever reason I could not hide my identity
I'm not into social media, Instagram or Twitter have no accounts .

BTW I have no problem with people making bold predictions.. people are entitled to that and aspire high.

I hope people also allow for others to have contrary expectations for Kai and if that's simply to play in the NBL or G league, there really shouldn't be anything wrong with that..

lol obviously an exaggeration but let me say this, its only considered an assassination if the target is a prominent or high value person (head of state etc) LOL but yeah we get your point

Lol I've seen your comments on some Spin articles though. Yeah I rarely interact on socmed using my real account as I had a bad experience with a possibly paid troll who stalked me and commented on all my posts for making a comment on supposedly decent politician.

Our style is only more effective when the pace of the game is chaotic, because we all know what to do when chaos on the court happens. Countries with strict systems get lost when that happens.

SJ is on that LA Tenorio mold I guess, when they refer to him as "not a typical Pinoy guard" because the guards they've seen are Castro, Romeo, Bolick. All 3 of them are aggressive in taking the shot, unlike SJ.

Also I stand by my opinion, that I don't like SJ's game. He passes to the bigs way too little and dominates the ball too much during tough situations.

I totally agree with this. Thats why we didn't get killed by top teams in 2014. We keep changing our offense. Its our style of play will keep us competitive with top teams. Also able to use 10 to 12 man rotation.

This is common for Filipinos. In Most fields, not only in basketball.

We are good 1 V 1 Players in Asian level. (For ex. Have a 1 V 1 match of Gilas Team A VS Korea Team A by position, I think Gilas players will mostly win)

What Jasper is saying is that Filipinos are good in creating out of nothing. Or what to do in terms of broken play.

Kumbaga, in laymans term, Filipinos are good in adlib.

However, Basketball is a team game. So System, Ball Movement, screens, etc matters.

If we combine Filipino's natural skills of creation and 1 V 1, with a good system. We can be a top team in asia. ( I mean Asia not counting NZ and Australia)

Coach Tab's Gilas who defeated Korea twice was an example.

They have good system. But there are times where the play was broken, but our players manage to make an "adlib".

I remember one play Carl Tamayo have the ball. The play broke. But Carl instead drives to the basket and scores.

” According to an NBA scout who requested not to be named, Sotto is a long-term project”.

”He has the same length and body type as Chet (Holmgren), and there’s a reason why Chet is a project top-3 pick while Kai is not, the NBA scout told Philstar.com”.

”At best, [Sotto] is a long term project for a team that will be patient to invest in him and develop him. He will more likely spend more time in the G League or sent back to the NBL for one or two more seasons”.

”CBS Sports ranks Sotto at no. 15 among all centers that applied for this year’s NBA Draft. Meanwhile, NBA Draft Room pegs Sotto as the 16th-best center”.

Stopped reading this kind of article already, the draft is just around the corner. Let’s see what happens. TBH, there’s nothing special about Chet either.

The thing is , the opinion below from an NBA scout has always consistently been the consensus take on Kai, ever since he was signed as a project by the 36ers for 3 years . Nothing really has changed , despite all the hype and media attention..(It's really all simply speaking loudly with little substance to support the hype ). Kai is in similar boat as all project long term bigs like Maker and Travers, this should not come as a surprise

Speaking. 10 days left. And there some international players who will also withdraw later or tomorrow.

I expect Kai's stock to rise at least 5-10 spots depending on withdrawals.

Finally, after we watch and tracked Kai's nba path journey for like 5-6 years. Let's see if he will make it.

I always predict Kai will be drafted.

BUT worse thing worse to happen. I think the worst for Kai is some team will sign him as undrafted FA, developed him in g league or stashed in NBL for 1 more year. (Worst case scenario na to)

But with the right team, I think Kai can hopefully crack an nba roster spot.

What bothers me is that the hype and media attention primarily comes from local sources, only a few international credible media sources would even cover Kai

Good advise from Reaves

. “I went in to a lot of workouts obviously knowing like every team has a guy. You’re not gonna find a team that don’t have a guy that usually has the balls in their hands, scores, assists, does all of it. You really just gotta figure out to be a plug-and-play guy if you’re not a top-five guy out the gate

Given Kai will be a role player, won't get much touches .
So question for Kai, if he's not going to be the main guy but a role player, what role description will he play? If that's answered, 2nd question, who currently in the NBA plays a similar role ?
And last question, can Kai with his attributes realistically play a similar role at the NBA level?

Kai's rookie year in nba. Even me would say he will not be a main player. (I dont think anyone here even thinks that)

Personally,

1. Kai's Main Role is Rim Protector. Right now, I think that is his most transferrable skillset in Nba. As for offense Roller or Popper in PNR would be my guess.
I hope he get some post touches, and could be post playmaker, but its dependent on the team he will play for.

2. I cannot think of someone. But a lengthy Center who can Rim protect, roll, and shoot.

3. I dont think there is any problem on Kai's attitude. Unlike japeth's and kobe paras' time.

^.
Role players have to make their mark on the defensive end.
Figure out why Watanabe has a roster spot

Here is the thing, in the modern NBA there really is no.longer a realistic role for a purely drop coverage rim protector, especially if that player has strength concerns.. rim protection bigs nowadays have to be able to hedge and step out .
Do not understeimate the quickness and strength level of a rim protector center like Williams of Celtics possess. His bench press and reaction time, fast twitch is a necessity for these type of role players

Rim protection guys like Williams or Dikembe are actually very tough and have fast twitch reaction

For the FIBA game however, Kai's attributes fit very well, mainly cause he will be the main guy (get touches) and littierally camping under the basket on defense on drop coverage will work .

My son asked me is Kai full Filipino? The reason he asked is for a Filipino he really is a freak of nature.. Kai indeed is a generational talent for Asia and include NZ , (not so much Australia cause they have a lot of 7 footers who are mobile), he is obviously very skilled for 7'3. And I'm very confident in the FIBA game for Gilas hewill have a Haddadi, Yao type impact.
As we all know he's breaking barriers for a homegrown Pinoy, 1st NBL player and I believe a NBA player is plausible (e.g 2 way contract type), I think that's where he is a future prospect, which we shouldn't take lightly at all.

Where it gets lost, and we've seen this with previous prospects like Japeth and Paras , is the overly exaggerated hype.. and I believe it really has impacted both players psychology, where they simply could not live up to the unrealistic expectations. .
Many who were part of the PBA forum know me as one of the biggest Japeth supporters, the point I was stressing is he is a serviable national team player, despite not living up to expectations. And deserves to be commended , not ridiculed.. the only reason he was viewed as a dispointment , was the expectations were so high.. like people were comparing him to KG or KD LOL
Now on Kai , c'mon he's no Pozingis or even Chet , which really inncontext of everything I said above is not bad at all.
How can the 1st homegrown player to realistically make the NBA (10 day contract or whatever) be viewed as a disappointment.
It can only be if there are people.who over hype him and put unrealistic targets (e.g has to be a NBA star or rotation player ) or else he is a failure. (Which is unfair ) and just look at social.media. Pinoys really have that as an expectation. And that is what I don't like (or hate ).. I see the effects and what it does.

One reason why we are so supportive on Kai making the nba is because literally no eligible filipino homegrown next in line who can be an nba prospect.

In fact, even if you consider some fil foreigns like Caelum, Femi, Amos, it will take time before we can have an nba prospect again.

I mean the next one can be Ajani jones or ben edu who are like 11-12 yrs old now.

As for homegrown, it can even be Kai's brother (if ever he choose to play basketball). ( And I dont think some people will even consider him pure homegrown if he grow up in US from 5 yrs old to teenager)

I mean, after Kai, who are next in line?

Caelum? Lopez? Femi?

Right now, I dont see anyone in 15-18 yrs old range.

Maybe Jayden Harper if true eligible.

As for homegrowns, I think Lopez have the best shot, but still a long shot

If you watch the finals there’s no way Kai can be hid on defense if teams play like that. He will be abused on both ends. Rob Williams, Theis, Draymond have looked terrible this series

William Navarro to KBL

That's good. KBL season starts usually in October & ends in May the following year, which means that during the months of June, July, August, Navarro is free for Gilas duty.

The same could not be said if Navarro plays in our shitty league which is PBA.
