Matt Aquino included in the large 39 man Japan NT Pool again. Since PHL is lacking bigs, can we still recall him? LOL.

They have an even smaller pool of players to choose from. So it really says something that they were able to produce a guy like Watanabe. The guy is not extraordinarily athletic. If they were able to put a guy like him to US NCAA and then the NBA there is no reason we cant.

Japan NT is also in transition. Outside of their NBA Duo, they have an aging pool. The next gen talents, mostly hafus are not yet ready.

PBA instead of protectionism should copy the template of other Asian league and NBL Australia in order to have a fresh and strong basketball league. It starts with leadership change, Marcial has to go and replace with some one aware of modern day basketball.

First things first, how practical is it for the league change to a regional format? They can always do what EuroLeague teams do and add the commercial sponsor on their teams’ shirt / name.

Sponsorsss actually in most league. Players look like human billboards but it's so normalize now, fans find it aesthetically pleasing. A well placed product placements on jerseys and shorts is not that bad..

Can you count the number of sponsors on Dwight and Thirdy's uniforms?

LOOL You beat me to it. I was about to post this. Imagine a team based in Makati. Guess which sponsors will have their logo on the shirt

Dave staying with Ateneo. His dad had a lot to do with the decision, believing that he needs more seasoning under Tab. Personally, as long as he is getting playing time, KBL can also be good for his development. A conservative decision if you ask me.

Dave I still has not shed all of his heroball mentality, case in point in UAAP Game 3 Finals, Dave I attempt before the Cagulangan gamewinnner. Seems like a heroball shot to me, it's a makeable shot but a difficult shot, maybe he could have passed (need to break it down, maybe pass to a more open teammate is available, or maybe he should have made a more patient shot attempt). i've been critical of Dave I's game before, but he definitely improved a lot (playing in a system). he needs a more automatic 3 (what were his current 3PT% stats) to play in KBL in my opinion as well

If Verano makes it then more of our 6'3/6'4 undersized college bigs should emulate his game more. A 6:3 spotup PF is not enough he needs to have driving skills.

i'm actually impressed with mike nieto in that regard, didn't expect him to develop guard skills after playing PF most of his life. he's also decent on defense on the wings. if guys like CBC had done the same thing they would've thrived internationally

nah already ineligible for us since he already played for them in a fiba game

Is Kai being measured in these workouts? It would nice to know what's his current measurements are

I am pretty sure he is getting measured. But I dont think they will nake it public.

Yeah. More than the height. Wingspan and Standing Reach and Weight will be nice to Know

Kai allegedly sprained his ankle in one of his workouts and would be postponing his other remaining workouts. Philstar reported that he won't be backing out from the draft. I don't think he will continue his workout with other teams anymore. Why? I feel he has already secured a first round commitment from one of the teams. No use of continuing if that is the case. If indeed he doesn't back out from the draft that will be my confirmation. Another thing to wait for is Kai gets invited in the green room. What do you guys think?

A green room inclusion makes you 99% chance of being drafted.

Green Room is literally voted by teams who will go First Round. Lmao

More KBL teams reportedly plan to get Filipino players: https://twitter.com/baekpd1983/status/1534333700980150272?t=7FwJpA0U5vUf7MjnZ4cHTQ&s=19

Changwon LG Sakers and Seoul Samsung Thunders are set to recruit Filipino players. In addition, Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus, Wonju DB Promy, and Anyang KGC are considering recruiting Filipino players. Verano is one, and who is the other sureball recruit?

Changwon and Seoul tried to recruit Abando and Dave, respectively. It will be interesting to see who their backup plans are.

On that note , i would like to know what was meant by Singh confirming his attendance in the 2015 draft ? Did a team invite him to be in the stands or something ? cause if that is case, we should really watch out for that as a sign for Kai. If he is invited by a team to sit in the stands for the draft. that is indeed a very good sign that a team has promised to sign him (2nd round etc like Singh)

Singh was drafted by an Indian descent owner in the 2nd round. The only way we can emulate that if we had a Filipino descent NBA owner.

Why do you guys think the PBA is still refusing to increase the salary cap despite the exodus of talent? Indie teams inability to cope with it?

That is what I am also thinking. Satnam Singh was there in the 2015 draft and went up on stage. So if Kai is in the building in the day of the draft then he is really going to get picked.
