Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Drew Timme is projected in the late first round to early 2nd round and he withdrew from the draft. There's another one that is a projected first rounder Terquavion Smith who decided to withdraw. I suggest people watch Drew Timme's game highlights and see if he is better than Kai Sotto since both are considered bigs. I am very confident that Kai will go late first round or early second round.

I've watched a lot of Drew Timme footage because of Chet. Lol whatever Timme is doing Kai can do much better. Not even joking, does anybody here in IBN really think Kai's game is PNR and camping at the 3? No, in Kai's core he's a post big. He just wasn't able to do it in the NBL because he's weaker than almost all grown big men there and the lack of playing time.

I know that coming from me, it seems to be nonsensical bragging, but I truly believe this to be so. With Kai's talent he should be Top 10 in this draft, you saw how WIDE the spacing is in the NCAA compared to how fast NBL players collapse on Kai whenever he gets a post up. Like anybody believes Drew Timme can post that long trying to back his man down pointlessly as if an NBA player will just let him do that. No, they won't. They'll do a much better job of collapsing on the post than NBL players did.

Slight complaint: a lot of Youtubers seem to think that we Filipinos overrate Kai and yes, some do. But we can't help it; NCAA bigs do not face 7 footers on the regular nor do they face as big and heavy big men as pro leagues like the NBL. How many bigs in that tournament have faced bigs on the level of Zhou Qi, Sam Froling, Chuanxing Liu? There are none, and this isn't even me telling fibs. Harsher competition breeds better skills, better talent, better decision making, etc. Sam Froling who tortured Kai in the U19 was nothing but part of his highlight reel when they faced each other again in the NBL. I'm being really objective here.

Kai is a 3 level scorer, how many of the NCAA top bigs are? Analysts say Kai has problems with his laterals therefore he can't defend the PNR, how many of the bigs they want to draft over Kai can defend it WHILE not clogging the lane?

With our kid's work ethic, they will be so shocked when they start feeding Kai the ball. I can't wait for Summer League, holy shit.

Cleveland is possibly looking into getting Sotto. Here’s an article: https://www.youtube.com/redirect?ev...2-nba-draft/&stzid=UgyO5_zsy1RRrVbgO6p4AaABAg

Read the article, and it's curious how people see Kai as a 'project' to develop his skills...by that, do they mean lack of skills or just further polishing of skills? Because I don't think the other bigs have as versatile an offensive arsenal as Kai, eff no. If Kai is a project then no big in the Top 10 should be in the NBA either.

Timmie stock has been dropping significantly recently .
His measures in the Combine are terrible further dropping his stock

maybe one of them is SJ belangel

great inference.

not sure how much foul baiting SJ can do haha. but as a system player/good read and react, lets see how SJ's spunk with the ball plus ability to create shot even though just a bit translates in a Korean league which plays too much drive and kick

I think Tamayo would blend in well in the KBL, maybe a little too well. His size and playstyle seems very common in that league, 6'7 who prefers to shoot and grab rebounds when needed.

Do they lose their UAAP eligibility if they play in the KBL

Note Tuffin had to get an exception from a vote of UAAP board to play in the NZ NBL to keep his UAAP eligibility (5th year in 2020).
I actually has to prepare the case for Ken at the time., to explain the situation..

yes.. foregoing the eligible years.. any uaap/ncaa players can do that..

Im such a fan of SJ leaving for the KBL. Hopefully Carl leaves soon as well.

I also hope Carl goes to Japan or SoKor eventually. It would be a good experience for him going against foreign bigs 24/7.

I heard an old interview of Tamayo that the reason for entering basketball is to help his family. I hope he choose to play professional this early. KBL will be best suited for him to become better player and financially secured.

So still no final decision for Belangel!

"For me, right now, siyempre lumabas eh, and nauna. Pero for me, wala pa naman, for me. And actually, andito lang talaga ako ngayon para manood ng laro sa mga teammates ko," said Belangel, who watched the game between Rain or Shine and Converge at the Araneta Coliseum.

"For me right now, nagulat lang din ako. But I'm here right now just talaga para to support my team, and lumabas. Pero right now wala pa namang sure, kasi hindi pa rin alam 'yung team nga," he added. "For sure, wala pa, for the moment."

Hopefully its a good offer since he really is burning bridges in the PBA. If not, he can always go to Taiwan. If Canaleta can go there, so can Greg.

for me, Greg suits more in Japan because most of the teams there like to halfcout. Kobe, Juan and Ricci suit more in Taiwan because they play at a faster pace.

I hope NBL or EuroLeague if he’s really good by 21 yo.

Carl’s game would go up by leaps and bounds if he’s exposed to the competition in either league.

i'd take anything homer sayson says with a grain of salt, he often talks like his opinions & chismis are facts. but i do hope slaughter ends up in the b-league or somewhere overseas tho.

as for tamayo, for as much as i love up it'd be better for philippine basketball if he goes professional and plays overseas now

Homer is so obviously a mouthpiece for various agents connected abroad. He even writes defenses for them. Two straight articles hahaha

Belangel will not leave college early. He’s like in his 4th or 5th academic year. I read he just finished exams and has completed his requirements to graduate academically. The two year pandemic helped him finish his degree. Its the right choice to leave college basketball because he has finished his academic responsibilities.

In contrast, Tamayo of UP is just entering his 3rd academic year. Still far away from finishing his degree. Leaving college and going pro overseas may not be a wise decision.

And then you have Kevin Quiambao of DLSU. Its almost three years ago since he played his high school basketball and up to now has not finished his senior high school. Wow! lol :D
