Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

This is not a technical thing on the part of Kai’s camp. As I’ve said before, his declaration would simply be a confirmation of his intent to join this year’s draft. Take note, Kai can simply not sign with any team that drafts him and still be eligible for the subsequent draft. That would be a waste of pick for the part of the NBA team and yet another tarnish to his reputation a la Ignite. By doing this, Kai irons out those wrinkles and generates some buzz in the process.

Technically yeah.

But for me. Kai should grab the opportunity to sign with an nba team given the chance.

Well, Most likely he will naman. Ehhe.

Do you think Kai will be drafted and be in Nba this 2022-2023 season bro noinu?

10.4 Negotiating Rights to Draft Rookies.
a. A Team that drafts a player shall, during the period from the date of such NBA Draft (hereinafter, the “Initial Draft”) to the date of the next Draft (hereinafter, the “Subsequent Draft”), be the only Team with which such player may negotiate or sign a Player Contract, provided that, on or before the July 15 immediately following the Initial Draft (for a First Round Pick), or in the two (2) weeks before the September 5 immediately following the Initial Draft (for a Second Round Pick), such Team has made a Required Tender to such player. If a Team has made a Required Tender to such a player and the player has not signed a Player Contract within the period between the Initial Draft and the Subsequent Draft, the Team that drafted the player shall lose its exclusive right to negotiate with the player and the player will then be eligible for selection in the Subsequent Draft.

Thanks, bro.

@math Of course he should sign and grab the opportunity. The non-signing part was based on a scenario wherein Kai intends to go for next year’s draft. By now we all know that’s moot point as he made it clear he’s entering this year’s draft.

Well, he better be drafted or I’m paying analyzed and the now missing trae yong (the handle, at least). Lol goes to show my confidence in him that I put my money where my mouth is.

To be blunt, I don’t think Kai is NBA ready right now. I wouldn’t mind him getting stashed to play out his Adelaide contract or if some team’s betting on his accelerated development, have him on a two way contract. The latter of course would require a buyout, which makes draft and stash more plausible.

But first things first. He needs to be drafted. Otherwise, Adelaide for one more year, and beyond if there are no better offers from the NBA or other premiere leagues, is the most logical scenario. I wonder if his contract has an NBA opt out clause.

hehe point taken bro,
anyway i think kai might not be drafted but he'll be invited to play in the summer league and eventually get a 2 way contract. of course the buyout from NBL is the problem

Tuloy mo lang... so you're not one of those who mocked me for citing Kai did not need to declare to enter , contrary to all the personalities claim that he needed to declare? (That's proof u laughed at automatically eligibility) Sige lang...make up excuses.

I dont get it...I thought that Kai does not need to declare to enter.....what is the purpose of him declaring now as per all the news coming out.....can someone please explain?

How is Kai's agent compared to the agents of those players ranked 30th up in the mock drafts?

oops sorry for the omission, forgot that Lebron's real name is francis lopez

It’s fine, i just scrolled down and i was surprised francis lopez is also there and his draft eligible is this year.

weird, probably the same case as kai, signing with a pro team/league (OTE) had repercussions to his eligibility status..

What about Kai isn't NBA ready yet? The NBL is a worse league in terms of physicality compared to the NBA, and when one looks at Kai's body of work all he's played at are leagues that aren't fit for his current age. The last tournament he ever played in where his age was in line with everyone's was FIBA U19, where he was 2 years younger than the ideal age of the tournament and the first option of a hobbled team coached by a staff who barely ran any plays. 11 pts 7 rebs 2 ast 3 blks per game. And this was when he gassed really fast, didn't run the break, or had the lateral quickness to stay in front of guards.

Lopez has US immigration red flags, while seemingly immaterial.. it actually does in determining eligibility . interesting that his records have this listed as high school - High School: Overtime Elite [Atlanta, Georgia (United States)]

Kai's classification as not part of the declare and withdrawal process (but auto entered) is actually very important to his chances of getting drafted.

Those who are in the declare list " can test the waters" and have the option to withdraw if the interest of teams is not as strong yet and looks at the player more as a long term draft prospect. . An automatically entered player cannot do this , does not have the option.

Luke Travers is an example of a player who declared who is likely to withdraw ( just testing the waters and drawing interest for the future )

If anything, it will even increase Kai's chances right? If a lot or some of the top 100 withdraw their names. Meaning less Competition

Correct, but again naiisip ko lang talaga is yun sa Gleague ignite fiasco ni Kai kung in good graces si kai sa nba drafted siya given how weak this draft is...masyadong malalim yun last year (Daishen Nix become aprt of houston lineup pero undrafted yan)

If the goal is limited to being drafted in 2022 alone , yes, but if the goal is to simply being drafted regardless of years, NO, it's a significant disadvantage , as one does not have option to choose the draft when teams have available draft picks to use on a player with Kai's attributes . It also has implications on roster spots per team.. that is why as an example the Spurs trade current picks for future picks to manage roster intake

Realize the implications of the Ignite fiascov and the information revealed that Kai only graduated in July 2021, in 2020 Kai was making visits to US colleges! eh hindi pala high school graduate until 2021 , this may be OK in the Philippines , but understand how this looks for those who follow process and rules.. this is really a bad look. this is not trivial ... that is why Sharpe now is being questioned ... if they're really honest...
