It took undrafted player Yuta Watanabe 3 years of working hard and staying in the USA to get an NBA contract. If Kai ends up undrafted will he stay in the USA to realize his dreams? Will his financers continue to fund him? Will he give in to his bashers, who will label him a failure, and come home and join the PBA?

Well there's a saying that "kapag gusto may paraan". How much do he really wants to succeed? Besides I his handlers have a backup plan already in case he doesn't get drafted. I don't think they'll give up on him that easily.

if you include his NCAA stint Watanabe's journey to the NBA took 7 yrs, will EWP willing to finance him that long? based on what has happened on the previous year from
the kaiju academy, kai apparel, the failed gilas stint etc, i tend to think that the agency wants to recoup their investment asap.

If people are already quick to bash Kai when he is consistently out of the mock drafts and his decision to quit Ignite, what more when he returns to the the country empty handed

suddenly i have a realization, if the rumors posted around here are true (regarding Kai's management team), suiting up for the NCAA is never an option since it will be difficult for kai to ba available for Gilas

I think it's less Kai and more the backers who will have their patience tested if Kai doesn't get drafted.

I’m not bothered about what happens if kai goes undrafted because i don’t think he’ll go undrafted. Now for the sake of discussion, Of course no one knows the future for sure and if that happens, that’s EWP’s problem. If you’re worried theyd just give up on kai, im not. If they are willing to sign a 23 year old kobe paras, why shouldn’t they keep kai for a few years more. Re

Chet committing to Gonzaga.lol I wonder what those pro analyst wannabees in their forums would comment regarding his physique and strength.lol

Regarding EWP's moves these days, it seems a lot of our decent prospects were moving to them. It somehow shows that they have been doing well despite the heavy criticism in this forum. If kai would apply for this years draft, I am with you that he will be drafted. The trust given by these fil-am parents to EWP means a lot on how they handle things. It seems it is not a sinking business but instead is flourishing.

Chet Holmgren
- 6’12 big guard
- likes to handle the ball and shoot three-pointers on offense
- impressive shooter for his size with range out past the three-point line, doesn’t look anything like a traditional low post center on offense
- elite shot blocker defensively, has a natural timing on his blocks that can’t be taught, will often block multiple shots on the same possession as teams go for put-backs and second chance opportunities
- face-up big man who likes to attack the defense by putting the ball on the floor
- badly needs to add strength to his frame, Holmgren’s skill set offers a clean translation into the modern game and should be a mismatch nightmare for opponents from day one at the college level
- projected to be a floor spacer and pick-and-pop weapon in the front court on offense who can also make plays off the bounce
- should be an instant impact defender at the college level

There was a time when a high school big man with Holmgren’s size would have been told to get in the post, and wouldn’t have been allowed to handle and shoot as often as he does. In that sense, Holmgren is rising up the basketball ranks at the perfect time. He should be able to space the floor his teammates on offense as a spot-up shooter while also having the ability to take his man off the dribble and get to the rim.

NBA scouts will want to see if Holmgren is quick enough to defend on the perimeter at the college level, and if he can maintain his quickness as he begins the long process of adding muscle to his frame. Teams will wonder if his terrific shot blocking skills can hold up against drives from more powerful guards who can initiate and absorb contact at the rim.

Don't be a bitter person and jealous that a player with a smaller frame than Kai is projected to be a top 5 draftee in 2022 NBA Draft while Kai is not included in any major NBA mock Draft sites for this year's NBA draft..

Is this guy a lot better than Poku? They're of the same age and just a year older than Kai but he's playing at a tougher league

I don't think it's bitterness or jealousy on Peezones part, but just making people honest. Honestly if Chet weren't American, he'd be picked as low as Bol Bol (Rd 2 Pick 44) with his current deficiencies, and we know Bol Bol was a demigod amongst high schoolers in his area.

I think guys like Poku, Bol Bol, and Chet have a different game than Kai.

The 3 of them are Skinny and relies heavily on their Outside Shots. They never or rarely go post up or dominate inside.
Only time will tell if they will end up like KD or Thon Maker. (Same body types, Same play style, but different level of playing)

Kai is a little bit different. The closest I can think of Kai's playstyle is Jokic. (AGAIN, STYLE. I DIDN'T SAY KAI IS AS GOOD AS MVP FRONTRUNNER NIKOLA JOKIC RIGHT NOW)

Kai and Jokic have the ability to shoot the 3 and Midrange. But most of the time they go inside. Post-score or Post Playmake.
Kai has the potential to surpass Jokic's athleticism. Kai, also I think is a better rim protector.
Jokic is a better passer and scorer than Kai RIGHT NOW though. AND YES, Jokic is a better player than Kai Right now obviously

I cannot compare Kai with Porzingis. The latter have a way different play style.

Bottomline: Let's just support Kai. We are 2-3 months away before judgement day

Well Chet Holmgren position and skillset is more of a SF or a modern 4 while Kai is a center. Players like Chet are rare compared to Kai.

I think the ball handling and face-up game are the only lacking in Kai’s arsenal to be a Jokic play-alike. Also Thon Maker for me is a bigman who wants to play as a guard while Chet is naturally a guard trapped in a bigman’s body..

They were demi gods for most here.hehe I believe chet is very skilled for a big but you would still wonder if his skillset will translate in an NBA setting. His frame is too lanky even in the NCAA setting. He was just too untested against elite competition. He should be playing guys his size. I will surely monitor his progress.

The more I watch the NBA these days. I believe Kai can really fit in. The pace is just too suitable for Kai. Kai would always be a plus on both ends and he just needs to exert more on the defensive end. His offense will still be clicking and he could impact the game in a lot of ways.

Im not really sold on Chet playing as KD. His role would be really similar and I am not sure if his angas would be carried over. I am expecting that he will eventually adjust but might take more years to fit in.

Holmgren has one big advantage over Kai, he grew up in the US and played competitive ball in the US thus exposing him to higher level competition at a younger age unlike kai

Actually Bol bol was projected to be a 1st rd pick (top 5-10) but dropped to the 2nd round because of his injury history, in fact he was in the green room during draft day ( green room is where all projected top picks stay before being drafted), and yes Bolbol is American

Chet also got to develop as a guard and had the chance to bring the ball up and handle the ball on the perimeter like a pg. Even coach Allen brought it up, Kai has trouble in the full court bringing the ball up because of his handles. More local bigs that have a chance to develop like that better chance of creating versatile bigs or players who could potentially transition to other positions easier

regarding bol bol, he was a consensus top 10 pick but that foot injury derailed him, and he was never the same after that

SI NBA draft expert Jeremy Woo's breakdown: Bol’s season-ending foot injury has made him into even more of a wild card in this draft. While in terms of sheer ability he can justify a lottery selection, the implications of foot issues for guys his size coupled with his unusually slender body type are all pointing in the wrong direction. As such, it will be difficult for many teams to justify committing a high selection here when considering the risk attached. There were already concerns stemming from his work ethic and NBA fit, and whether he can physically handle a heavy minutes load (something that’s increasingly difficult to justify for 7-foot centers). The possibility of developing Bol into a unique, floor-spacing rotation big should keep him in the first round, but it’s tough to feel overly secure about him.
