I think Kai is still so far the luckiest prospect we ever have in basketball.

1. His family is willing to support and go with him abroad for his nba dreams

2.He have a lot of sponsors. Let's face it. Without Chooks, maybe some SBP, and EWP, Kai's TSF and Ignite stint will not be possible.(That is a lot of money to spend)

3. TSF made him better because Coach Rob is a developmental Coach. And he shined as a HS Prospect.

4. He is now a Millionaire after signing a 500,000 more or less US dollar contract in Ignite.

5. He was able to have the same training with top prospects like Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga. Also learns how to play with them
(Though only scrimmages)

6. Now, back to EWP. He is being connected and trained with different nba trainers and nba veterans.

7. Unlike Kiefer, Japeth, Kobe, and Parks. Kai is a legit draft prospect. And I can say well known (atleast namewise) among nba front offices

and among the names you've mentioned he left the country year or two younger which is vital in player development (or was Kobe the same age when he left the country though didnt have that financial backing like Kai?)

I have already mentioned this once before but im quite concerned about the frequent change of trainers. In the recent training video, on the free throw line particularly, I saw kai bending his legs a lot more than what he does before. Kai has been shooting well already and im not sure if tweaking his form will he helpful. Of course im not the expert, the trainers are, but I think this is the more genuine concern compared to what some whining agent has to say.

While Ray Parks did the complete opposite, came back here in Pinas at 17 years old(2010)and became the lost boy of class of 2011. Ray was invited to play at the 2010 Nike Global Challenge in Oregon. It was there, leading the All-Asia team against top amateur talent from Europe and North America including future top-three picks Anthony Davis, Andrew Wiggins, and Bradley Beal that Ray put his name on the recruiting map. He averaged 22 points and shot 44.4 percent on 3s during the event, good enough to be named to the International All-Tournament team and good enough for some of the American prospects to call him a ringer while watching him play. “Guys in the crowd were yelling, ‘You’re not supposed to be with that All-Asia side!’” Ray recalled. “‘You don’t even look Asian. You’re supposed to be with us!’”

That is also a concern. I think sometimes Kai trains with some trainers just to showcase what he can do and create connections with NBA teams. He trained with lebron's agent/trainer before for a few days. I think it was just to connect kai with teams. It is a brilliant move in marketing Kai before the formal workout request by NBA teams.

Kai as a unique prospect is the main reason for all of this. If he was just like Japeth, everything wont be possible. I just hope that Kai's emergence would be a catalyst for other phil prospects to make it big in bball.

I always believe in our talent as bball country. We have been playing bball for almost a century and the love of the sport is unmatch. We will always have talents and our kids were getting bigger these days. We really need an unselfish governing body who is into player development as a whole and we should continue to compete internationally in all age group. We need constant games against top tier competition and that would do wonders for our players.

You forgot the most obvious thing: his height

kai might play scrimmages today on this IG story.

Why Japan? He can dominate CBA league (best Asian basketball pro league today) and huge money he can get there...

Better treatment, much more worth than that huge money. B League salary is still millions ahead of the PBA anyway.

Based on the pics and videos.

What do you think is Kai's Weight right now?

I think he is between 236-240 lbs. Same as KAT and Porzingis

7'3" 240lbs Mobile Big.

I hope Announcemen of Kai's camp this week ( if there is) will be positive development for Nba Draft

But Kai is too big to be there.. CBA is better competition than B-League.. Best of the best Asian basketball superstars, alongside big time NBA reject players (or big time NBA free agent players likes of Jimmer Freddete and Lance Stephenson) playing there.. Kai will have a good competition there...

Maybe if Kai is out of the NBA at 35 years old and can still play...but as a young kid? No sir. Chinese crowds are very non-supportive of players who aren't Chinese or those who aren't on the level of an NBA player. Chinese basketball stars are also notoriously entitled. I wouldn't want a young Kai who (in this hypothetical situation) just failed to get drafted in the NBA play for a hostile league. Which CBA star wants to get shown up by a young kid? He'll get frozen out on the court.

Remember how they treated Jeremy Lin, a Taiwanese-American? That guy has endured a jealous Carmelo Anthony and frustrated fanbases in the forms of Rockets fans and Raptors fans. Even he doesn't like playing in the CBA despite his "star" status and play.

Mas mabuti pa sa B League, in all honesty. Supportive environment, non-toxic crowd. The most that will happen is that an import will get frustrated and a fight will break out, but that's it.

Totally agree with you on this one. The mainlanders are typically hostile, how much more towards a Filipo. Yeah I don’t think that kind of environment will be good for a 19yo kai sotto. Europe, NBL overtime elite and even the b league is a better option

G league Elite Camp ( June 19-21)

Play in front of Scouts

This will happen before Draft Combine (June 21-27)

NOTE: Only Draft Eligible Players (WHO WEREN'T INVITED IN THE COMBINE) will participate in this.

If a Player is already invited in the combine, he will not join this anymore.

Anyway, As for Kai Sotto. I think he will be invited naman.

Been away for a while, trying to catch up with all he news. Does this mean kai can play in the 3rd window and then join the combine? Did kai’s camp release a definite plan already?

try going to clutchfans (bbs.clutchfans.net), the houston rockets' fan forum, the Lin hatred there is off the charts, and to think he is no longer part of the franchise for almost 7-8 yrs. And most of the fans there are borderline/closet racist,

No announcement yet

^ yep no announcement yet. Im also referring to how the schedule for the 3rd window and the combine line up. Theoretically, can kai play in the third window and get back in the US on time for the combine?

It took undrafted player Yuta Watanabe 3 years of working hard and staying in the USA to get an NBA contract. If Kai ends up undrafted will he stay in the USA to realize his dreams? Will his financers continue to fund him? Will he give in to his bashers, who will label him a failure, and come home and join the PBA?
