I listened to Quinito and Dyan's interview with the EASL bigwigs. They sounded like they were pitching to VC investors but one of their goals is apparently for the region to produce NBA players more regularly. I believe this should be our priority as well so more power to them.

how can a player be an NBA prospect if he is not passable to be an Asian import in an Asian league?

before we dream of having an NBA player, produce Asian imports first. fortunately, this is already happening.

Thats too late already unless you are talking about the NBL. Keifer might be the best point guard in the B League and he couldnt even get drafted in the G League.

EDIT: I think our goal should be to produce as much D1 talent as possible and hope the vastly superior developmental system in the US leads them to the NBA.

Tratter started in a US junior college. It just didnt work out the way he wanted it to. Personally as long as they try their luck at a higher level, we can't blame a player if it didnt work out.

I didn't consider the context of Tratter, sorry. Overseas leagues weren't available back then after he ended his stint with La Salle.

Agreed, though, that we can't blame a player if it didn't work out, as long as he tried.

Our players should capitalize playing in leagues most open to imports and suitable for their skill levels to build up on our import culture, most preferably the Taiwan and B League(but definitely B League if they get offers there) while it's still early. Philippines, Korea, China and Iran's local leagues are hermit leagues and will stagnate and not reach their potentials for as long as the mindsets of those leagues prioritizes some outdated sense of nationalism instead of talent and consequently profit. Opening up your market will allow a bigger possible return on investment, just like their K1 fighting league that made names like Mirko Cro Cop, Fedor Emelianenko and other foreign names in MMA popular and still going strong despite the fact that they aren't Japanese. Not surprising that the Japanese are again ahead of the entire region when it comes to capitalist ventures, it should've been the Philippines because of our more western mindset lol but it's the complete opposite, we're so fucking bad at capitalism it's unbelievable.

Hmm, you guys got a clue why a PBA team couldn't utilize Jamshidi while a B League team could actually get quality production out of Kiefer and even our younger players like Dwight and Thirdy? What a fucking waste man, dude can be a star and a good piece for modern bball style but ofc we need to prioritize our 5 footers and dinosaur coaching schemes.

Are they really being utilized? Other than Rayray they arent winning and other guys are getting DNPs.

They are getting decent playing time, it's their first seasons there but the pinoy players in B League of Jamshidi's calibre are producing more than 5.2 points a game, players like Thirdy and Kobe are central pieces to their teams(good moves by these player's agents) despite the teams being scrubs, and honestly Thirdy and Kobe both being too raw for that role since this is their first ever professional stint. The only one who I feel got screwed over are Javi, Juan and Carino, their B2 section is just unforgiving and too claustrophobic for pinoy talents being as import laden as it is for that level. If it don't work out for them they can go to Taiwan, but they sure as hell shouldn't go back to the PBA and expect any better.

BRP gets 23.2 mpg in the B League: https://basketball.asia-basket.com/player/Bobby-Ray-Parks/Japan/Nagoya-Diamond-Dolphins/164680
You can't tell me that's not decent minutes for a player playing his first season there, the production just isn't there yet with 10.9 ppg. That's expected though, it's ridiculous to expect a player in his first season to be well integrated into the team's scheme straight away. Meralco didn't even try with Jamshidi with just 5 games played in the league lol, it's probably the immaturity of this team's front office that just failed to acclimate the guy. Also what a hell of acclimatation it was getting your luggage stolen at the airport, imagine if that happens to the pinoy imports in the B League lol, iyakan mga vloggers.

Our players who are in US Ncaa Div 1 (or tougher/better league)

1. Kai Sotto - NBL Australia

2. AJ Edu - US Ncaa Div 1

3. Dalph Panopio - US Ncaa Div 1

4. Ken Tuffin - NBL New Zealand

Possible:

5. Caelum Harris

Did I missed some of our eligible gilas players/prospects?

"Team manager Paolo Trillo said the Bolts’ initial concern that Jamshidi may be over the 6-foot-3 height limit for Asian reinforcements was finally resolved Thursday when the Iranian national team member was officially measured at 6-2 and ¾ at the PBA office."

Didn't know there's a 6'3 height limit on Asian imports in the PBA fucking lol. Which insecure midget came up with all these rules? I'm sure if this was applied to pinoy players abroad they'd be thinking differently. Now I understand why there's no Koreans, Japanese, Iranians or Taiwanese, even Malaysians in the PBA, they're too tall LOL, holy shit that's fucking pathetic. Makes Fajardo being a 6x mvp in this midget league even funnier in the wider context, literal definition of a Mickey Mouse award.

I can't wait for the PBA to implement a facial aesthetic rule, where if you're a foreign player you cannot be too handsome para di mawalan ng fangirls sila Terrence Romeo. Good fucking business decision and is probably a rational one in peenoy context. Land of fkin retards in barongs, total monggoloid shit

That guy is 6'6". Holy shit. Could have helped with the PBA's wing problem.

Etong PBA talaga. Hahahahahaha.

Nope wasn't 6'6, PBA measured Jamshidi to only 6'2 3/4, that's why he passed the 6'3 height limit on Asian imports that PBANO set in place, his height in FIBA is probably wrong just like everything else there, that's why he's the only Iranian player who ever played here. Without that midget rule made by some insecure virgin, guys like Jakrawan and Geramipoor would probably be playing here instead of Taiwan and giving coddled babies like Japeth and Fajardo some real fucking competition, those guys would be more developed players. I'm honestly trying my best to hold off a racist tirade against the chekwas that run the PBA, these guys might as well be CCP spies by how well they pull the leg of this league down to the fucking ground, I'm starting to doubt that these are ineptitudes instead of actual malice for this country and the betterment of its people.

Schizoposting lang, pero ayaw cguro ng mga tong matapawan ng isang Southeast Asian league and mga liga nila doon sa Taiwan at China. Kung gobyerno ako, I would keep close eye on these kupals running the show in the PBA 24/7, especially the Chua guy.

"As a young boy, I dreamed of playing at the Philippine Basketball League (PBA) like my father Ervin Sotto. But when I started playing basketball in high school my coaches and teammates including my father encouraged me to dream big. They said I can make it to the NBA as long as I continue to work hard and remain dedicated to the sport", Sotto told SBS journalist Maridel Martinez. "

So Kai originally JUST dreamed of being in the pba. Good thing his family and people around him encouraged him to dream big (dream of making the nba)

Honestly, the PBA has been backward for quite some time now. Not adapting to the changing times.

I actually had these innovations for the PBA, but I dunno if they would be willing to adopt them:

Combining these rules, here's another wild proposal from me.

1. imports should be part of the permanent roster, and should have no height limit, no matter the season format (whether 2-conference or full season format). Yes, I'd prefer if the All-Filipino were confined to the preseason or offseason. It should not be part of the regular year.

2. Change the Fil-foreigner limit to a FIBA-ineligible limit, and included in this list are imports and naturalized players as well as FIBA-ineligible Fil-foreigners. I'd prefer a limit of 5, but 7 is good also.

3. Each team can recruit a world import and an Asian import.

3a. In lieu of an Asian import, a team can opt for a naturalized player, or an import who had previously played at least 3-4 conferences.

It would be good if the PBA implements these rules, but it's highly unlikely.

Hay, nako. If not the PBA, hope some other league can adopt these rules.

I wouldn't hold my breathe for any local leagues to accomplish any progressive innovations, this country is ground zero for national terminal cancer. Even the well intentioned and honorable individuals here will eventually get consumed by the tumor. Best bet is we support the foreign leagues like B League facilitating our players and try to deprive the PBA of oxygen. I am aware not everyone in the PBA is a bad actor but chemo therapy kills even the healthy cells.

The visit of espn draft analyst validates that the serious prospects for the nba are only besson, dieng and hukporti.

Schmidtz must've been so impressed with Dieng's -33 net rating and 6.65 PER :D

His smile was horrible and he had teary eyes all throughout the interview.haha it seems he has difficulties selling his writeups.lol drsft analyst lang daw akala ko ba scouts yan grabe pana namang reliance ng mga negatrons diyan.haha on the otherhand, all REAL NBA SCOUTS didnt say a word about their findings when they visited and watched the NBL games.
