Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

To those who are saying that if B.League is better why the Japanese didn't improved that much. What we are saying is the B.League is better place for our players, because they are facing 3 world imports compare here na sila sila lang. And they are also one of the main guys in the team.

Hoping Balti, Oftana and Tamayo opt to play in B.League. They have the potential, they just need better competition to compete in the next level.

Yeah, I hope they do. They have the talent, and they'll compete against imports who play that position.

Hope they get the playing time, though, and are mentally tough.

Maybe in 2 yrs time Francis Lopez would get an offer from a B-league team. Also by that time, current college big men like Tamayo & Quiambao might also get offers from the B-league & they would decide to turn pro.

Quiambao, Cortez, and Chiu have a chance.

Kobe Demisana too.

Here's some names I've been looking at:

6'4" SG/SF/PG(?) Dave Ildefonso (although he's more of a guard, he's better off playing overseas)
6'7" PF/SF/C Carl Tamayo (hope he spends only two years at most with UP, then goes abroad)
6'7" PF/SF/C Justine Baltazar
6'8" PF/C Kevin Quiambao (hopefully he does after a couple years with La Salle)
6'7" C/PF Justin Arana (hope he can expand his game with Gilas first)
6'5" Calvin Oftana (had a Japan offer, but couldn't consider it; hope he goes after his contract with NLEX ends)

Just a few names at the wing and big positions, but just add people I might have missed. I really want our best bigs and wings to play abroad, so they won't really stagnate to just playing 5 or small-ball 4 in the PBA. Plus, getting more used to a FIBA-type environment overseas is more important for our bigs and wings than our guards.

I really hope these guys can play abroad after their UAAP careers, whenever they may end. B.League, NBL, something like that.

Having second thoughts about the KBL, given the way they acted before the 2nd window.

I know you're being sarcastic.
But here is the thing everyone here supports Kai , yet obviously there is a divide on both sides on what that means and how things are said..
Which some misconception as the other side as HATE.
Yes I admit some and including me don't like other posters or the hype they communicate. But people mistakenly think some actually hate Kai .

Remember when people such as you and me doubted Kai’s decision in going to the US and not Europe? Almost everyone here was on our case.

I still say joining Ignite was a waste of time.

I think it is much better for Kai not to play for Gilas as long as it is still Coach Chot. His system will surely kill his stock value for nba draft. Now i undrstand why Fajardo and Japeth, Cstand did not flourish under Coach Chot. He turns the bigs into screaners and just stay inside the shade and wait for drop pass or create your own one on one post moves.

Coach Tab? Hahahahaha.

But CStand did kinda perform well under Chot. 16 points and 5 rebounds per game.

correction Chot. Well in just few games, but those games against Korea and Lebanon, Cstand was not properly utilize, the panic mode of chot is activated which means small ball and ddo galore.

As if di na maiimprove yan, he's only 19 for fucks sake. Red flag agad? Can you wait till he becomes more older than labeling it as red flag. Kamote. Even Giannis got punked by norwood whe he was younger. Problem masyado kayong umaasa ng big numbers kay kai kaya pag may mga di magandang nagagawa red flag na agad. Sino overhype now? Kayo lang naman umaasa ng big numbers for a 19 year old kid playing against grown men.

The problem is people are labelling him as a sure-fire NBA draftee if we are placing Kai in a context of just a pinoy who has made it to the NBL, G-league and is future Gilas superstar then we all agree to that, the only reason I'm calling Kai's Stamina and strength as red flag is because we are talking about Kai's chances as a 2022 NBA draftee, no one is saying that Kai will not grow stronger or have better stamina in the future because that's a given

Well said , there is actually no problem whatsoever if we're not talking about the NBA 2022 draft, it becomes hype and an overexaggerating if one is claiming he is top rated serious 2022 NBA prospect ( to be precise top 80 consensus) , this is purely misinformation and not true ( that is not opinion but fact) , of course the basis of saying he is not a serious NBA prospect is available publicly shared info (none other than feedback and collated mocks) , it would be silly and speculation if one is using "inside " opinion as basis of claiming Kai is actually really a top 80 2022 prospect (as some are doing when they use CJ's quotes to mean he is really rated higher than 80 other draft prospects , that's purely misleading )

Exactly, being tagged as hating when mainly stating facts (Kai in not a concensus top 80) is headscratching.

Personally if Kai is considered as a consensus top 80 then I have no problem with that and I will actually be extremely happy (isn't that what all of us here are dreaming of - for Kai to get into the NBA), but to attack other people for stating the obvious and spreading toxicity is just borderline trolling

Ratings are the only real basis

Ratings are the only real basis

What other basis are there but ratings made available to deterimine who currently are the top 80 to 100 prospects?

If the basis is mere reports of people in the NBA claiming interest and 150 players have similar reports. How then can one confirm who of the 150 are the top 60 or 80 rated?. It still comes down to published ratings.

And here is the thing historically over the last 5 years . 99 % of those who have been drafted were in published top 100 ratings 4 months prior to draft. This is fact.

It's called MOCK draft rankings. To call it "ratings" as if official ratings or rankings is not being very honest.

Big fan of Kai and im hopeful that he can be drafted in d NBA. But if he ends up undrafted and dominates Asia same way Hamed & Yao did during their primes then Im Okay with it. Kahit Asia-level na lng muna, i want him to be a fixture sa Gilas (Asian Games,Fiba Asia,Jones Cup/SEA games as a build-up to a qualifying tournament) SEABA siguro hnd na lol.

I have the same preference. I have never ben interested in Mock drafts. I just want Kai to improve and be the best Big man he can be and fulfill his potential. A lot of speculation about this but mine is he has the height skills and basketball sense to create a profound impact on future national teams.

exactly! I want Kai to make it to the NBA or any top leagues primarily for
him to maximize his earning potential. But really, im more interested on his impact for our National teams.
Same way that i dont mind who coaches the team chot or tab or whoever SBP
finds as a good spend of
their money as long as it yields positive results. Kaya nga after watching the 2 wins againsts Korea last year over & over para lng to appreciate the gameplan & schemes etc ang sakit tuloy s mata nung recent games vs India & NZ, it felt like a hundred steps backward lol

A "consensus mock " which is a collation of mocks and averaging when picked (e.g. 10.5 average) is actually a rating (survey) and not a mock.

And I will say it again for factual accuracy 99 % of players drafted over the last 5 years have been in the consensus top 100 ratings 5 months or later prior to draft day. This is fact not opinion.

Do not confuse accuracy of mocks happening (which has low accuracy- not everyone predicted top 10 is drafted in 1st round) with the accuracy of those drafted being in the top 100 ratings radar , the latter is super accurate at 99 %

The players that were listed in Mock draft usually gets drafted, not being in the top 60 is concerning, there's plenty of guys who have height, skills and basketball sense in that Mock Draft. How good is Kai vs the top 10 centers in the draft, imo just behind them, but after them its a toss up for me.

Players like Timmie , Ariel and Harper Jr are not in consensus top 60 in mocks, so they're indeed in the bubble ( 50 -50 chance) , but all 3 are in top 80 range consensus ( which means sometimes in mocks and sometimes not) , Kai is at a different tier level below , he's not in consensus top 100 and has never made a single mock top 60 in last 12 months. the probability of kai based on hard historical data of making the top 58 in June is literally 1 percent to zero

Mock drafts, polls, reviews are like surveys. It gives us an idea where the individuals’ ratings stand at the moment. It shows who are most preferred against who are at least preferred. It identifies the strengths and weaknesses of an individual.

It is also a tool for the individual to help themselves address their deficiencies and improve them.

Ratings derived from surveys are truly relative accurate indicators of where a prospect stands ( and it's very clear where Kai currently stands , he's not a top 80 prospect currently , this is clear)

Political surveys give us an idea where are our candidates stand (ratings and placings). Identifies why certain candidates have low ratings. It is a mirror or voice of the people why certain candidates are most preferred or least preferred by the people at the time of the survey.

Same as mock drafts, they identify the strengths and weaknesses.

Unfortunately for Kai, majority of the scouts, coaches, sportswriters have him least preferred to barge at least in the Top 60 prospects.

There is still naman a possibility he may be selected. But he really has to show something “very special” in the remaining 15 games that would make scouts, coaches and sportswriters turn their heads.
