Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

We have to remember that one of the reasons of this is the pandemic.. dapat nga eh no play no pay because we have to consider also the companies who invest here were hit by pandemic.. masyado tayo one sided sa mga players eh how about the companies? Especially yung independent teams.. I hope next season pba should tweak this one.. as I said, I support players will go overseas, but not on this way.. next season, pba should impose negotiations after the conference ends, if the player/s end their contract already and still not yet finish the season, automatically extend yan after the season for fairness of all.. dapat boss tingin ka din sa ibang sides, not just the players itself.. maabuso yan in the future.. ang pangit Lang sa statement ni quinito eh halatang bias ang dating.. he should be neutral..

"next season, pba should impose negotiations after the conference ends, if the player/s end their contract already and still not yet finish the season, automatically extend yan after the season for fairness of all"

-so why is there a free agency if players are required to negotiate first with their mother teams? if that's the case, then removed the word "free" in free agency.

"dapat boss tingin ka din sa ibang sides, not just the players itself"

-ikaw ata yun. PBA teams have always been in command about player movements and that's the reason why we have dubious, one-sided trades with SMC, MVP and the farm teams (i.e. Air21, Barako, Northport, Terrafirma and Blackwater). Players' fate is always in the hands of the team not on the player. Masyadong one-sided yun. It is just high time for players to be given their right to self-determination - the right that the PBA has been depriving from players for the longest time.

"maabuso yan in the future"

-if it is within the bounds of the contract, it is legal. hence, there is no abuse. bear that in mind.

Correct me if wrong aren't the B league players seemingly more available to Gilas than San Miguel players ?

There is nothing to correct. You're not wrong. I bet if Kiefer's team doesn't have a covid outbreak going on, he'd be here already with his brother.

Thirdy is confirmed to join Gilas in this window

will join the Gilas Pilipinas pool for the upcoming FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, SBP Deputy Executive Director Butch Antonio confirms. ||

This coming window? But happened to "familiarity "?

So they any of the Pinoy import could join the team? What was the supposed drama about? It's our leagues that aren't accommodating

Maybe enticing them to join the PBA?

hehe. they are living like celebrities in Japan, a first world country, earning million and living in beautiful residences. you are already in a sports car so why drive a scooter? hehe

Don't insult scooters like that. Hahahaha.

But that said, yeah, better to hone your game abroad, playing against bigger and/or more athletic imports. Better that than against smaller and less athletic Filipino centers (of course, there are exceptions, but point still stands). It's a better simulation of FIBA competition than the PBA.

normally, all players with expiring contract will be automatically extended up to the end of the conference if their contract ends while the conference is ongoing. but the PBA remove it to save cost because they are giving salaries while the conference is suspended. to blame here is the management of the PBA why they didn't automatically extend their contracts. Blackwater cut ties with KG and the likes but we didnt hear anything from them but if it is Adams or Bolick, then utang n loob is in play. They must be consistent on applying their rules to all the players.

Yeah. But honestly, Only noteworthy for San Miguel to be included is Perez, and maybe Romeo.

JMF looks past his prime already. And still having some issues with his injury.

Lassiter, I mean he always beg off playing for gilas since he entered pba.

And ofc, the Classic SMC VS MVP

That’s why pba should impose that rule that any players who will end their contract within the season concludes then it will be automatically extended until the season/conference ends.. that is the better way to fix this thing.. parang 1 o 2 buwan Lang ma eextend eh..

they are imposing but choose not to do this time around then it is the fault of the PBA. Player are just exercising their rights. They are cautious that if the in the period of extension they got injured, then their next contract is in peril or in the case of Adams and Bolick, it is better to talk to overseas team if you are not tied up in a contract (kiefer ravena issue)
this is a cost cutting measure by the teams this pandemic but it backfired to them. UFA Players transferring in the middle of the conference and RFA chose not to resign to their current teams.

This mess was created by the PBA itself, the blame should be on them

How about carino? Badly needed big na din kasi eh… as for parks and paras, expected na mag dedecline yan.. even they are good players but the thing is gilas should build a good camaraderie within the program.. with chot as coach, ayaw nian ng mas madrama sa kanya… hehehehhehehe

Was he even invited? Maybe not I'm sure he won't decline if he's invited

Juzang can still get into the NBA after his 4 years in UCLA. It's not the end of the world. Same for Kai, but I still want Kai to get drafted. Playing against real NBA bigs will skyrocket his growth, even just at practice and garbage time. In addition, right now there are only 23 bigs over 7'1 in the league. That's 7 more teams that can use a 7'3 kid.

When people do a full list of top 60 prospects for the 2022 draft ,you will more clearly see that Kai is not likely to be one of the top 60.
That is why it is relevant to talk about mocks in a Kai Sotto thread.

It's easy just to say Kai will be drafted in the 2nd round without going through the thought process of identifying 60 other players you will omit to include Kai. When you do that exercise, you realize how hard it is to exclude 60 other available players.

Never say never for me. Tacko Fall went undrafted after placing in most mocks around 55-60 range. Still got signed by the Celtics. Going into another sport, Freddie Roach was the only coach to accept Pacquiao when he first went to the US, after going around various gyms and getting rejected by trainers. Kai is trailblazing so I don't think the standard procedure works in this situation. As long as he plays I don't care what avenue Kai uses to get there.

Answer : to me very solid high chance .. it's also dependent on negotiations with EWP. 36ers on how to handle his current 36ers two year guaranteed contract.

This is why we should appreciate and recognize Kai seriousness of currently being an undrafted sign prospect in 2022 (it's historic for a Pinoy) .

As you can see I'm just citing accurately where he is currently consensus ranked (75 to 100 range rank) neither exaggerated or overly downgrading Not just anecdotal citing what a few experts have said as Boni is doing to mean he is ranked higher than 60 other draft prospects ( which is plainly untrue )

BTW entering the draft in 2022 is a requirement for a player to be signed by a team.

NBA GMs and Player Developmental Manager, usually go in the draft room in what they perceived that the team needs, not usually the best player in the draft.A possibility that as soon as the teams gets the players needed, they still usually will sign undrafted free agents for undisclosed reasons. This draft is a little too unfriendly on big men, even Chet is going down more than likely a couple more, this draft is loaded with SGs and SFs.

Number 1 ranked Auburn losing to Arkansas. Potential number 1 pick Jabari Smith put up 20 points and 9 rebounds for Auburn. Another potential first rounder and Auburn center Walker Kessler almost registered a triple double; 16 points, 19 rebounds and 7 blocks. Easily the best frontcourt duo in the US NCAA.

Some people have that penchant to post other prospects' stats here in Kai's thread whenever it's good, as if to rival Kai's and make him look inferior. But when, in response, others start to scrutinize those same players and highlight Kai's advantages, they'd say, for convenience, pulling otters down just to put kai up :D

you mean the same way you gays try to belittle and mock Chet's stats?
