hehehe what many Kai nuthuggers and cocksuckers don't get is that scouts go beyond the surface when evaluating pro prospects - yeah you might have blocked some shots but is your technique going to translate to the NBA? you scored points but how? - where you defended, where you left open on purpose, how varied where your made baskets. Heck even the way a player runs and jumps is being scrutinized by NBA scouts. Sad to say the prototypical modern NBA player of today should be one that can run like a gazelle, jump out of the gym, a well proportioned body, can shoot from 3, has excellent ball handling skills, can defend multiple positions and the perimeter and has a good motor, EXCEPTIONS happen when a player happens to have a GENERATIONAL SKILL (Luka's passing, Steph's shooting, Gobert's defense, etc.) that can offset whatever shortcomings they have vs the NBA player blueprint.

So seriously, what does Kai bring to the table vs other players that will be enough to make him one of 60 players picked by an NBA team? What basketball skill makes him something an NBA team will covet so much that they will invest a 1st or 2nd round pick on him?

Bear in mind that even a NCAA player of the year is not a guarantee to become a first rounder or to be even picked at all. Heck even conference player of the year accolades means nothing to an NBA scout (see what happened to Landale), we can all ridicule or question why a Hukporti or King or Besson are making the cut in the mock drafts even though their number aren't impressive on the surface but NBA scouts are the experts here and it being their job they have no biases whatsoever (unlike Kai dick riders, player agents, past and present coaches and GMs from non NBA leagues) since at the end of the day their task is just to give an honest and objective assessment of prospects.

The simplest way to understand this is akin to forming teams on the playground with bets at stake- with no bias and even without the benefit of watching them play, sa "porma", "tindig" at "dating" pa lang who will you pick as center for your team - a well muscled, well proportioned kid who looks like a statue of Adonis - or a lanky, lean but hunchbacked kid? don't be liars or hypocrites, deep down inside we all know the answer.

Quinito is such a PBA shill. I mean, don't get me wrong, I am grateful to the PBA for being there and employing our talents, but it is not our players' fault that they are treated better in the B league. Who can say no to a high salary, a free car, a free living arrangement, etc.? Not to mention that they can leapfrog from the B league to other higher leagues (Baba, etc.) and the higher competition (imports, of course, not the overall talent of Japan's locals).

I guess Kai is also playing in the NBL because of the money, he should have just went to the PBA and improve his NBA draft stock there. Quinito is a dinosaur. These players deserve better, and if playing overseas is better for them, then let them be. There are too many entitled people in the PBA and in the media.

Although Dieng has been inconsistent in producing points in past few games, he did displayed good handles all the time for wing/small forward. Even setting up the offense. His long wing span, good handles and versatility (can play multi-positions) i think is what attracts NBA scouts. But sometimes he defers in offense or hesitant.

Besson is different. He’s a scoring guard.

He made 4 3s , his skill set handles. Vision makes him a true wing at 6'10. While inefficient at 18.
NBA teams will always tap that upside and hope to make him put it all together.
As bad as he has played to me Dieng is still the most guaranteed to be drafted.

Nevermind that Kai's statline is consistent after coming back from injury. It's like the NBA Draft Reddit threads I posted in the NBL thread a few days ago all over again.

At some point there has to be a concession. To my eyes they're both getting drafted, just that if Kai decides to remain for another year in the NBL his draft stock will go higher because his strength will finally come into play. But there's a risk of staying in a highly physical league, and we've experienced that firsthand.

In relation to the other thread, I understand drafting for potential 100%. That was not my point, since Kai's potential is also there, and in full view by outperforming his fellow big men prospects, nevermind the guards and forwards.

So what you're telling me is that scouts are willing to overlook the physical disadvantages of prospects but Kai has to be a complete player before even dreaming of being in the mocks? Masyado naman yan. I understand that the physical disadvantages matter less to other positions, but in Kai's case his main disadvantage can be solved by just giving him time. I'm sure majority of the prospects going into the draft have their own disadvantages too; the point of drafting a young player is to secure him for the future right? Only top prospects are expected to have instant impact, and that isn't Kai.

that's because Dieng already passes the eye test and Kai doesn't, sorry the world ain't fair - that's how the NBA works. oh and stop overusing the term "give him time" as recouping a million dollar investment in the NBA doesn't take years to happen - Anthony Bennett wasn't even given that and Markelle Fultz is slowly fading into oblivion, if NBA execs don't have the patience for high lottery players what more for non lottery types? LOL more time akala niyo ata Kai exists in a vacuum that he gets exempted from everything and has to be given special treatment. oh and even skipping a draft is risky since there's no guarantee that an older player is better than incoming prospects, that's why even the late Dean Smith encourages his players to go once his NBA "friends" start whispering in his ear.

theirs a reason he hasn’t crack the top 100 yet even with string of double digit scoring.. even kai score in 20’s but the weaknesses still there it will not go up.. and theirs a reason dieng, besson went up..

even he scored nothing but made an impact on his defensive weaknesses then the ratings will go up and the scouts will notice that..
