Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Decent first half given the time Kai was at the floor, he was setting up screens, nice pass to a cutter, a block on Jawai, trying to do the intangibles. Hopefully he can get more playing time to show more what he can do

I'm not sure about positive he was -8 on the plus minus. His direct centre matchup Nate Jawai was +8.
You can’t gauge it via plus minus but rather player efficiency. Kai’s responsible for only 1/5 of that stat. Obviously Jawaii has outproduced him, but as far as contributing for his own team’s cause, I think Kai made a positive impact.

even with a huge deficit and a blownout game kai has only gotten spot minutes as Humpries' backup, he's weakness at the perimeter was also exposed when he fouled a 3 pt shooter resulting into 3 made FTS

One of Kai’s weakness was shown in the 3rd quarter where he was slow on transition defense and in the process was forced to pick up a guard. Kai fouled the guard on a 3-point attempt. The guard made all 3 free throws.

His physicality and frame still needs developing. I noticed how skinny his legs are. He almost got injured trying to help out a teammate and almost hyperextending his right knee

its just 1 game but let's give credit where credit is due, kai plays good interior defense its in the perimeter which is now expected for modern bigs where he struggles - he missed a closeout vs zimmerman who hit an easy 3

He didn't get the stats we hope to see but he definitely improved. Strength, speed and mentally. Small but continued improvements are good enough.

Laro ng 36ers parang kapag dumayo ka sa ibang barangay. Lahat ng tawag pabor sa home team.

Translation: great game by the home team.

It's the effort that's a big plus for me, downside is shooting and perimeter D

Even the play before that. With Kai, you gotta take the good with the bad. He’s gonna learn he needs to get out there fast, and prepare one step ahead of it. He has shown some positives as well on the defensive end by keeping in step with Deng off a closeout. Plus the blocks and the intimidations insise.

Another weakness shown as Kai gave up an offensive rebound against a shorter Zimmerman. In the same play he failed to closeout Zimmerman who hit a corner 3.

Essentially confirms the "project " tag. A work in progress.. it's good exposure for Kai , to be in a team environment, where he contributes to the team win or lose.
He's still a valuable young asset for the 36ers 2 or 3 years from now

That TapGo link was really bad. In limited minutes he blocks a couple of shots, makes a few nice passes, goes 1/4 from the line, is super slow on the close-out every time, but pretty much knows the team's offense. Even with his slow legs, at least his length is a huge asset at that level, a few times he forced Deng and McCall to kick out. I will still probably unlike and report every shit content creator that hypes that game, but it's just fun to be able to watch some Aussie NBL. That and the Japan B-League are on another level than whatever is on the PBA.

But all Kai needs to do is have a few decent and breakout games and he is guaranteed to be a first round pick.

Kai's immense skill level higher then Duncan, Yao, Aldridge and Prozingis was out in full force tonight.

So was his very skillful 25% free throw shooting lol.

i think it's just nervousness.

I don't think he'd be a 1st round draft pick though with tonight's performance.

I guess the more reasonable question , given the projection 1 and half years from now at World cup for Gilas, how would you use Kai seriously? With Kouame or strictly a reliever ?

Before people think the Taipans (last place a year before) are good and a contender , No they're Not, it's just the 36ers were really bad.

Honestly, reading those comments by pinoys on that youtube livestream was far more entertaining than the game lol.

On a per minute basis, Kai’s production was efficient. I mean, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 9 minutes is promising for a 7’ 3" big. Animosity and biases aside, I think Kai has made a good account of himself overall given the minutes he was given.

Humpries doesn’t look right earlier. Looks like he’s playing injured. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the injury list sooner than later. Kai’s rest of season outlook is good. 2-3 win loss start could go anywhere, but however which way, Kai needs to earn his minutes that Bruton’s hand is tied to playing him more and invest on his speedy development.
