Oh, draft-and-stash. This could be a nice option for Kai. Look past his rawness and just draft for upside. This could be a good play.

I think that is the worst possible outcome for Kai in next year's draft. (As I said I firmly believe Kai will be drafted, preferably in first round)

In that scenario, The Nba Team still have the rights on Kai while Kai is finishing his last season contract for adelaide.

But still, the achievement of Kai being drafted in nba, or being a nba player in any way will be the biggest achievement by any local homegrown basketball player we have.

PS: BTW, I will stick with my prediction of Kai being selected late first in 2022 nba draft

If that's your worst-case scenario, that's a pretty optimistic take. And I do hope that's the worst-case scenario for Kai.

Hope the Bulls can get him someday. Hehehehehehe.

If goal is be drafted next year (like the next stars). Not playing (DNP) even in the preseason , does not help Kai's draft cause. NBA teams still want to see him in any game.

Of all the top 100 prospects Kai may literally has played the least number of minutes in official games last 12 months . He really lacks exposure to people

Relax. He’ll get his minutes. But first, he has to earn it. I don’t think there’s reason to be overly anxious of seeing him play.

Pag regular season na at di pa rin ipinanpasok, dyan ka na magumpisa kabahan. Hahaha

What I’m saying here is Kai is 7’ 3” with some mobility and athleticism. It’d only take flashes of upside for teams to take a really hard look at him. It’s gonna be a long season. I think he’d have enough time and opportunities to show what he can do.

imo, it's either 2023 or 2024 is the perfect for Kai to try NBA. joining next year's draft will just make Kai looks like he is rushing. mahirap yung hinog sa pilit.

Kai's realistic playing time will be similar to NBA draftee Will Magnay of Tasmania JackJumpers. They will both encounter several DNP's and around 12-13minutes playing time based on their pre-season blitz usage.

Just a note on the things Kai needs to improve. Yeschkel made a video on Zhou Qis NBL games so far. Basically showing how good fundamentals and of course an insane wingspan is doing well for Zhou Qi. Some notes on that Qis stride seems to be smoother than Kais. Just hoping this stride of his is not related to him having stamina problems.

I think he is really entering next year automatically. And I really believe there are some teams who are willing to spent a pick on him.

But for the sake of argument. If he is eligible in 2023 or 2024. The downside is he will be 21-22 years old. So Nba teams will think a 22 yrs old have less potential than a 19-20yrs old prospect. In that case, 22 years old Kai will need to produce great numbers already in a pro league like NBL and Fiba World Competitions.

Let's refrain from calling people names (gideon, sorry but it's unnecessary)

Back to topic , from how I see it and based on the nature of Kai's long term contract and how 36ers including CJ talk about Kai in terms of long terms and bringing him slowly.
Not only is Kai not yet ready for the 2022 nba, but he hasn't done enough to demonstrate upside that will be translate to the NBA even long term and stay. To high a risk to use a draft pick on him next year. Do note if his stock isn't that high NBA teams can still sign him as a FA (like Duncan Robinson) after going undrafted.
That way teams can avail of Kai and wait and see if he develops without using a valuable draft pick(which isn't necessary to secure his rights)

Best case: 2nd Round Draft Pick and plays mostly for his team's G-League affiliate.

From the way CJ and the 36ers are bringing him in slowly, it does not seem to me that the realistic target goal is to be drafted in 2022. If the Breakers treated Dieng a serious 2022 lottery prospect the same way as Kai and simply told his management team, we will just rest you DNP , rest assured his management team, would protest. ( it defeats the purpose of why he signed as a next star , to be seen .. why the heck would you rest him even if it's a pre season game) . note the time they rested Lamelo, RJ and Giddey all lottery prospects was in the 2nd half of the season ( Feb) , when their draft status was secured. Not in the pre season LOL . Basically the way Kai is treated isn't one who management is eying to be drafted next year. (actions speak)

Just like Magnay , Kai can be signed by an NBA team next year (undrafted ) and just assigned back to the 36ers ( with a contract arrangement)

Well it's all water under the bridge , past is past can't do anything about it. what is important is the now and moving forward. And Kai is actually in a good situation with CJ now, the next 3 years will give excellent exposure under an ideal set-up to develop, the NBL plus Gilas is a good place to be in for Kai.

and he can be a starter next season once and if humphries doesn’t re sign with the team..

That is possible, BTW where will Humpires go if he leaves NBL, assuming he doesn't make the NBA, Europe ? I think he is the type of player that can secure a good contract in Europe

another shot at nba or euroleague..

Considering that this is the pre-season, my take is still late 1st round, early 2nd round for next years draft. All the things happening is still within expectations. So long as that 10-15mpg. happens, and Kai still delivers with his 7-9ppg, 5rpg, 1bpg, 1spg, 3apg, and only 1TOpg (my biased analysis as to numbers needed to be produced to get noticed), i think Kai will be drafted in 2022.

To be fair unlike kai's more highly rated colleagues, not much really has been seen of Kai for people to rank him highly. (limited games) .
So it is possible that given sufficient exposure 15 min for 25 games and he's highly effective in those minutes that his stock will indeed rise.
The concern is two fold. one will he really be given the opportunity (playing time) given he needs to earn that over more senior vets (bigs) and 2nd when he does play will he be able to produce right away , given he may be in a short leash . Well can only hope for the best. His biggest ticket to stay in the game is still defense.. (not offense) , the 36ers have enough scorer to need to resort to giving Kai touches. But if he's a defensive presence inside and there is no drop of on defense when Humpries sits, he will stay on the court ..
