Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Aquino and Cariño are listed as PFs. I think their teams will develop them to play that position long-term. This is an edge that the B.League has over the PBA. With imports around (and these are usually bigs), tall locals have to learn how to play smaller positions. We don't have that culture in the PBA, given how we have an All-Filipino and an import conference with a 6'5" height limit.

Ang disadvantage lang dito, bigs won't have many opportunities to play, kasi tatlo ang import.

I watched a few clips, and, yeah, Cariño is really being groomed to play the 4, although he's spent a good amount of time at the 5 as well. He's being put on opposing PFs, which are imports. That's kind of a baptism of fire, to say the least.

However, that's a start to him being able to play the 4. Hopefully, he'll be able to competently man both the 4 and 5 slots when he comes back to play for Gilas.

what is coach cj doing ? is he taking a page from coach bshaw's book and treating kai as a "project"? if he won't use kai during the blitz what more during the actual season? these coaches seem to be discriminating against kai, i think kai's better off playing in europe or in china where he will get playing time.

Take it for what it is,
Humpries who is returning from injury and a proven contributor (was playing better than landale prior to injury) isn't being rested (DNP) in the pre season.
You can arrive with your own conclusions why this is

Let's see in the last next couple of games sir.

Also Humphries also have a DNP in the First game.

Anyway we are getting nearer anf nearer in the regular season. Getting exciting now

the game earlier is the preview of coach bruton’s rotation this coming season. it’s like same rotation of players from last season but different coach and different line up..

I am not really worried. Dufelmeier and Manny did not play as well. Coach CJ already said what he said in the interview regarding Kai. There is no other conclusion than to trust his words. I would only be worried if Kai indeed was a DNP in the first game of the regular season. We will see in a few weeks.

If that's the case. Kai will still have 12-15 mins per game when he will suit up. I think it is more than enough to show what he is capable of. (Though, ofc, we hope he will have some extented mins in some games)

Yeah. I think their games is moved to dec 5. 2 weeks from now, Kai's NBL Journey will really start

withers played some small ball 4.. first guy off the bench was cam earlier..

here’s the allotted minutes

with kai being DNP or close to shut down from remaining games tells you adelaide is working out his weaknesses which is his stamina and strength.. as mentioned in broadcast earlier “kai is in intriguing exciting prospect but needs to adopt the pro league game”

Yep, their first game is against Brisbane I think? I am not sure.

He really needs to work on those. His body is getting more muscular, so he is putting in the work, but his stamina is not looking too good and it is hindering his ability to stay on the floor.

Saw Kai in a mock draft, but of course not as prestigious as ESPN's list.

On the bright side, at least the broadcasters look like they do see Kai as a nice prospect.

I'll set the bar (relatively) low for Kai. Just stay in the NBL as a rotation player. As long as he does not go to the PBA until after his mid-to-late 30's, that's a win for him (and for us).

Oh. Ok . Let's wait and see.

anyway long wait again until Friday and Sunday. I think Kai will play already at least 1 of those games. ( I hope both)

Btw, looks like Adelaide can win this NBL blitz they are leading. (Though some teams only played 2 games so far)

Yeah. Kai is in a couple of mock drafts.

Nbadraftroom - 97th

Nbascoutinglive -75th

He is not yet in Espn, NBS Sports, Bleacher, Nbadraftnet.com, and Usa Today, and other mock drafts.

Every mock draft starting to change the orders now because of the start of College, Ignite, Europe, and OTE.

That is always positive when a player is rising in stock (regardless if it is just journalist who are drafting these projections)

Will he not play at all in the pre-season? I hope this doesn’t affect his performance during the actual season. I didn’t watch the latest game but I saw this comment on their forums medj may ere pero lol, I think they were watching live and it’s during their 21 point deficit that they were able to overcome. It wouldn’t have been a good look had they lost.
Sixers need to give Kai Sotto some game time. Getting slaughtered without him lol.

Obviously. And I will also project that their projection will include Kai early next year ( January or February)

As for Kai, His NBL regular season will really matter since scouts (both nba scouts and media scouts) will be now taking notice of NBL.

Btw, if Kai is drafted in the second round next year. The nba team can draft and stash him to let Kai develop his game further in NBL.

But as I said, imo, I believe Kai can be drafted and play in the nba next season.

Oh, draft-and-stash. This could be a nice option for Kai. Look past his rawness and just draft for upside. This could be a good play.

P.LEAGUE+ v. T1 League. P.LEAGUE+ is a veteran-laiden league ala PBA but I see T1 League more exciting. The latter has more promising youngsters in their fold. T1 plays more fast-paced than PLG.
