Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Our young players, especially finish their college stints, If they want to go abroad to play PRO basketball.. They should be ready physically and mentally ready.. If you look at top performers in B-League, Kiefer, Parks, Ramos and Kobe are ready to take it to the next level, Kiefer and Parks are seasoned veterans in professional basketball careers, including PBA, while Kobe and Ramos gained experience while playing Gilas and before US NCAA basketball, The latter 4 are no any PRO level stint yet, limited Gilas/FIBA international stints and no US NCAA stint.. Parang sa ordinary job yan, They always hiring very experienced personnel.. Guys like 1GDL, Javi & Carino (even Aquino) are not ready yet to play PRO basketball abroad.. They should take time first here to play PBA (Or under coach Tab in Gilas in 1-2 years) to gain some experience and readiness going to play abroad.. Look at Thirdy in his 1st year in B-League, he was struggled on his 1st season, Actually until now Thirdy still not impressive in his 2nd stint.. luckily is Aquino eh local sya sa B-League. kundi eh bad decision din yung pagpunta nya dun as Asian import.. He's not fit as Asian import.. hilaw na hilaw eh...

As i said earlier, for me both routes are just fine to take. When it comes to the underclassmen attracting significant interest from B. League (for any other reason aside from their capability to immediately contribute), if the offer is really hard to resist, so much that it would make them realize that staying in collegiate level would no longer make sense if further development of their game is concerned, then they should go for it. It's a 60-game season, PT is going to come to them at some point, they just have to be patient and disciplined in team practices/scrimmages so as to avoid multiple DNPs.

Amen, brother. It's what fans like us are so excited about from our young turks in the B. League, like how will their level of play progress after each passing year knowing that they're battling mostly against seasoned western imports. It's like FIBA world games overload in that league, and that in more ways provides a much better pro experience than PBA, especially for the Gilas mainstays.

The good thing about for our Gilas stars playing in bleague and other Asian leagues is they will learn allot especially when it comes to team play and shooting and better conditioning. PBA is moe focus on one on one individual talent, while Bleague is about system and team play. They will be better once they go back to the national team.

Black will put Javi at 3 (sometimes 2), They have guys like Belo, Hodge, Hugnatan to play the 4.. He put Pasaol and Quinto at 3.. Black is not a tactical immature coach, although he's a old school coach..While Carino will give a leeway by Cariaso to play 4 spot.. They have Taha, Brondial to play at 5 spot... And those teams are willing to give playing time to their rookies.. Ginebra and SMB are only teams who are rookie killer confidence, As they put their rookies on the bench...

Agree with the Ginebra and SMB part, they don't play rookies that much. The last rookie to play all games for both teams was Scottie Thompson, and that was kinda lucky.

As for Cariño's position, I doubt that he will play 4 in a lineup with Brondial. Cariño's the tallest in the team if ever, e. Probably if Taha is his partner big, but if its' one of Brondial, Tratter, or even Adamos, Cariño's the 5.

Agree. It isn't really like Japn's B-league has significantly higher level competition than the PBA. I think if we take away all the world imports of the B-league teams, PBA level of competition would be higher than the B-league. I think its more on the style of play in the B-league is more relevant with FIBA style basketball than PBA style basketball. Japanese basketball puts emphasis on team work & discipline. On the other hand, Filipino brand of basketball is more individualistic approach.

Our B-league boys therefore would be more oriented on teamwork, passing, & discipline which would be beneficial for them as National team players.

Removing the imports won't make sense when comparing the level of competition as that almost never happen, teams (nearly always) play with 2 imports on the court at the same time in bleague. They also have almost double the number of teams in Division 1 alone compared to PBA, and their top prospects play overseas (Hachimura, Watanabe, Baba, Chikara Tanaka, Keisei Tominaga, etc.). PBA have 12 teams and at least 2 of those are farm teams already, what more if there are at least 20.

The only problem I see is most (if not all) of the world imports are Forwards or Centers, while they still utilize team defence, having world import level guards or wing manning the other filipino players (most of our players there are guards/wing) on defence will be a better test overall compared to the diluted local talent pool spread among 20+ teams.

Hypothetical scenario lang naman yun brad just to point out that what makes B-league having a higher level of competition than the PBA is the presence of its world imports (3 in each teams). Its like saying that SMB without Junmar, CJ Perez & Mo Tautuaa is a significantly weaker team.

SMB team with just an all-filipino players will get smashked by the likes of Alvark Tokyo, Utsonumiya Brex, Mikawa Sea Horses, Kawasaki Brave Thunders, Ryukyu Golden Kings and Chiba Jets - all equipped with 3 world imports + 1 naturalized player/asian import.

Again, removing imports in B.League will not make sense at all. This applies with CBA, KBL, P.League, T1 League and NBL. Teams are ALWAYS playing WITH imports. PBA is the only league that is taking pride with an all-local tournament. Ganun katindi ang superiority complex ng PBA.

MANILA, Philippines — Fil-Am Gabi Bade continues her rise in the Cyprus Women's Basketball Division A, winning Player of the Week honors.

Bade, who played for Gilas women in 2019 during the Jones Cup and is the daughter of former PBA player Cris Bade, led her team ENAD to their second win in a row in the league with a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds against Zinonas last Sunday.

She paced the team to the 62-56 win to improve their record to 2-1, helping her squad move up to third in the standings of the Cyprus tiff.

The 25-year-old's double-double performance isn't a one-off as she also posted 28 points and 16 rebounds against Keravnos in their previous win.

She also finished with similar numbers in her debut with 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds when ENAD lost to AEL, 73-52, in their first game of the season.

Apart from the weekly accolade, Bade might be in the running for more individual awards in the tournament as she's among the top performers in various stats.

She's second best in points, third best in rebounds and fourth best in assists.

In three games, Bade is averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5.3 assists.

ENAD returns to action on Sunday against Anagennises, who have an identical 2-1 slate.

Kobe is like invisible to his teammates. He also doesn't move on offense, doesn't cut, which makes things worse. He just stands there waiting for the ball.

Why is the big man bringing down the ball for Niigata? What a meltdown...

Heart breaking loss. For some reason Kobe is scared to take the matter in his own hands when ita needed. Common Kobe, exwcute when its needed.

First win of the season by Dwight Ramos' team. He played brilliant tonight with 20/6/3 on 8-14 shooting. Looks like he's slowly getting back his groove.

I don't like the way their import, Mavunga plays though. He's very ball dominant. While he is their best facilitator, he is also turnover prone and loves chucking ill-advised step back threes from curry range. He almost lost the game again tonight but thankfully his shots was suddenly falling late in the 4th.

Rosco Allen took it to his own hands becuase their PG #21 Nohmi got 2x 24sec shot clock violation. Rosco actuallly scored on 1on1 on Rossiter. But on the next trip, Rossiter stole the ball right from Rosco on Niigata's front court. Then the last play was Rosco's missed 3.

Kobe played good game but was gassed way way early. He made good posting up on 3Q but that was forgotten already and Rosco was hot at the final minutes anyway. Just bad luck for Niigata.

Hahaha Mavunaga feeling Curry. Coach made adjustment by playing 3rd import Bryce Johnson more and Jumbotron only about 3mins left in 4Q. Finally a win by Toyama. Dwight really now good making decisions off the PnR. Just need to straighten out his 3pt shooting seems like he was rushing them in 2 instances i saw

Mavunga consistently takes bad shots and do bad passes, while Joshua Smith stands so deep on defence that he's always late to contest a floater. Given that zone always has that hole in the middle, having those 2 imports that seem not too acquainted using the zone creates more problem than there should've been if they just get their coverage right. Not too sure about the other import but Dwight have to be very efficient on offense and defense if he plays with Smith and Mavunga for them to win consistently lol.

Even if their is a possibility of adding another big to avoid last season scenario when Humpries got injured, they are saying that big things are expected of Kai.

Kai would mainly play C after IH while DJ and Bairstow will alternate in the PF position.

In other news, the NBA these days are becoming more physical and big men centric. It is really changing to bigs era again.

this would not bode well to lanky and perimeter playing bigs.
