Bro, Kai covered all those traits. Kudos to Ervin and his team. They have done their homework. Kai is a product of years of development and hardwork. We should expect another great big in the pipeline.

True. Hence, he just need to truly master what he learned, improve his stamina and be more focused on the improvement of his game. I think, with those skillset, it will still be needed even now in the NBA and even in FIBA.

That is why I advocate that Kai develops a decent medium range jumpshot more than Kai develop 3-pointers, well at least for now. I feel, for now, its easier for Kai to develop mid-range jumpers than 3-pointers.

As I've said, Kai possessing a reliable mid-range shot is going to put his defender in dilemma as sticking too close to Kai in the perimeter to challenge his mid-range shot would put the defender in the risk of being blown by Kai's slashing moves. That's the benefit of being a big man having a decent medium range shot & the driving or slashing skills. Then imagine complimenting that with solid post up moves anchored on superior footwork that Kai possess right from the onset.

Pag pure skills lang talaga ang pinag usapan, no doubt Kai is up there. Kai's capabilities as of now are just being limited by his shortcomings in the physical aspect. He still lacks power & some physical strength. Malambot pa talaga mga buto & muscles nya. But as Kai matures such shortcomings will vanish & what will reign would be his skills, height & smarts.

yep, also 3pt line is farther out in the NBA, good 3pt FIBA shooting doesn't automatically carryover to the NBA.

So they are already star-strucked with this???

Fiba, low scoring game and a blowout, if you notice a Chet was second highest scorer for team USA and did it with good efficiency. Also 5 assists and 1 TO is impressive, showed off also some defensive plays as well, can cover ground with his athleticism.

I agree. That's actually a good statline for Chet. Very impressive. But right now I think Kai is better, even if it's not by much.

After all, bukambibig ng ilan dito diba? Level of competition daw. Unless they're telling me U19 is better comp than FIBA Seniors, then Kai is better by their metric.

sayang. honestly kai would've dominated U19. can imagine him and lopez together.

I also have question marks on Chet's game. Will he be quick enough to play in the perimeter or be strong enough against physicality? Of course senior's competition is incomparable to the U19. But in fairness to Chet what is his role in the US team? Does he get the ball a lot? Kai is good for his age and is already a vital part of our team. He may become our best player but he is not our best best player. So we can't really say who will be a better player. They are both 18/19 year old kids still growing into their bodies. But I guess it is interesting to track down the progress of their development. They are similar in that they are both lanky and are still physically developing.

@Silent Killer. Adelaide will reconstruct the whole roster?

I am assuming Humphries will not go back. So maybe 1 recruit and Kai at Center. I hope thats it. For Kai to have more minutes.lol

Here Kai's stat at 17yr old without Aj edu and very inferior teammates. If kai would be in a stacked team, his assist would be way more than that average.
11.7pts 7.9reb 2assist almost 3 blocks

Kai only had a hard time defending Oumar Ballo. While if we watch the whole USA game, Chet had a really hard time defending Turkey's post players. This wouldn't really be an issue if Chet isn't mock draft Rank 1. Chet currently is just at par with Kai when he was 17. Chet being Rank number 1, we would always try to envision how he will fare in the NBA with how we see it he would just be a stretch 4. He would really have a hard time defending the inside and unless his 3s would be deadshot then we aren't sure if he will be effective. There is abundant supply of stretch abled bodied euro bigs in the NBA. Chet wont really have a good body ever and those euro bigs were very consistent with their threes. With his current trajectory, he would be at best a rotation player but be a liability specially defending the inside. He wont also dislodge the euro bigs if his 3s wont be as good as them. If he would be drafted next year, his real ranking as to potential and actual play would be mid to late first. This Chet version wont be instant impact player. He might need 3 to 5 years to contribute. I wasn't expecting that he is this slow. I was expecting he would be explosive.

he gets a lot of media because he is white.

when was d last time that a white american player, much less a center, became a top 5 pick? top 3? no.1?

d guy has talent and potentially could become d american dirk or a 7-foot version of love.

but he could also become an oden (hopefully not).

Agree a little bit, Chet is going to have problems with physicality.

Another player playing in the World Cup that’s interesting to watch 17 yrs old dominating, Victor Wembanyama.

Victor I think will progress to a body of Porzingis or just a tad smaller. I also expect a KP trajectory for Victor but he would also be expose because he lacks post plays. He is also in love with that turnaround jumper like KP in the post. It would remain to be seen if his version would be more effective than KP. Victors legs and ankle were more stable than Chet and he is still 17. Chet is already 19 and still look so frail.

Maxi Kleber
Ryan Anderson
Nemanja Bjelica
Saric

These are just examples of stretch 4s in the NBA and they were utmost rotation players and some were journeyman. Chet wont have a body like them and those mention were really good shooters. The only solution for Chet would be that he would a good shooter as Dirk or near dirk in creating his shots to be an All Star. If his shooting would be like Anderson, then he will just be a rotation player.

Looking for a go to guy by 2023

I think we can slowly evolve and find who that player is by 2023

And in my mind it could be Kai by 2023, I'm serious

Hopefully Kai does become that go-to-guy for us by 2023. It's gonna mark the start for us. Our team will be big-centric (to an extent) rather than guard-centric, hopefully.

He was the great white hope but he is somehow becoming a great white disappointment. He is every white guys hope that they would have a KD or somehow a dominant big but his frail body would be his waterloo. Chet is allergic to contact and physicality and this is just against mere teens. Prosper will terrorize Chet and just one hard foul of Prosper would remove every inch of confidence from Chet.

one of d go-to-guys is good enough.

besides, as of now, i think kai, baltazar, and ramos are d only shoo-ins in d 2023 WC.

You're gradually turning into a Kai believer.hehe Currently, Kai at 19 should be our go to guy. He have shown that he could score against the best of them. His offensive skillset is so elite. He might not be as effective as desired but no one in our NT could consistently produce scores in bunches like Kai. We have seen Kai score in spurts even by his own. He would be more deadly if we set him up in his ideal scoring positions.
