Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

I say Kai possesing the medium range jumper of a prime Alvin Patrimonio would make Kai an unstoppable player in Asia. I've seen how lethal & accurate Patrimonio's mid-range jumpers were & he can take it from all angles. Mapa straight shot or bankshot, Patrimonio could hit them

If Kai Sotto develop the same skillset( Skillset lang not Skill level) of David Robinson. But have a better 3pt shot.

He will be a Fiba Asia ATG

im 99% junmar will not join gilas anymore due to that gruesome injury. he needs to maximize his playing years now for good financial returns. pba being offseason so long it allowed him to heal but junmar will never be the same not until for the next season.

And with Kai, Koaume, AJ, Geo ready to step up, I don't think he'll be needed. I'd argue that Japeth would be the only local PBA big we need right now.

I can definitely see a potential for Kai to be a FIBA Asia ATG if he keeps improving at the current pace. Although, it's going to be a very tall order. For now I consider Yao Ming to be the ATG. He was the MVP and brought the gold medal in all FIBA Asia tournament he participated in (2001, 2003, 2005). Kai needs to match or even be better than that. He has time. He is only 19. Yao Ming started playing for the Chinese National Team at 20.

I think it's good that the PBA now has "competition" when it comes to getting Filipino players. Lol

true. let us all hope and pray they stay healthy and injury free.

Kai Sotto's Matchups This OQT

After Cardo and Prosper. It doesn't get easier for Kai as he will be matchup against tough matchups.

A. Serbia

1. Nemanja Bjelica (6'10) - Nba Role Player (Heat)

2. Boban Marjanovic (7'4) - Nba Bench Player (Mavs)

3. Filip Petrusev(6'11") - Nba Prospect

B. Dominican Republic

1. Eloy Vargas (6'11") - Veteran International Player. Played in different leagues overseas.

2. Jhonatan Araujo (6'11) - Young Backup Center

PS: Maybe Some Nba Scouts are watching. Hoping for Kai's good to solid performance.

Is Marko Pecarski playing for Serbia this OQT? He was Petrusev's partner in the U19 WC. Also, isn't Petrusev more like an SF than a C?

No, he is not SF.

He is a Mobile Big.

Maybe PF/C.

But I don't think he can play SF

Yeah, I think someone else pointed out that Spin got his height wrong, which is why I was confused. Anyways, it would be interesting to see him matched up with Kai again.

Im eerily silent these days because I am anxious of what will happen. I dont expect much from Kai but I am hoping for flashes of brilliance against both opponents. I think Kai could handle Petrusev and strength wont really be an issue except against Boban. Hopefully, kai will have enough stamina and i prefer that he only take light practices.

I prefer that Gilas would do all out on both so we could gauge the status of the team as compare to world level competition.

Two more days to go.haha just one similar game like the 1st Korea game would be great for kai. I hope dwight will also play. The team would be in disarray if he wont play.

BAD NEWS:

DWIGHT WILL NOT PLAY

KOUAME AND TAMAYO HAVE INJURIES.

On the Bright Side, Kai may have more minutes and touches

DR is our stabilizer. Hopefully, the additional practice of Kai with the squad would lead to better chemistry and more plays for him. I also hope that he would have enough energy all throughout the games.

I wont expect a lot from Kai. I would still approach it that Kai is only 19 and new to senior NT but im really hoping for flashes of brilliance.

Based on this video, Snow says the the PBA might implement 3 new rules to discourage players from going abroad.

1. There will be no max rookie salary. If a rookie asks for P420K monthly salary, that can be given by the team.
2. The draft-dodger rule will be reduced to 1 year.
3. If a player refuses to sign a contract offer from his PBA team, he will be given a 5-year ban.
