I read on social media that the supposed Smart advertisrment was to coincide with the launch of Dito Telecoms. If this was true, indeed this was planned and calendared long ago by dad Ervin and EWP.

they could have just shot the ad at the Sotto's US resident, smh, they're overstretching the kid's popularity, he is not yet that of a household name as he is only known to filipino basketball fans, i doubt the kpop baby bra warriors, the nanays, jejes etc knew or follow Kai or aware of Kai Sotto,
 
We always know where this is heading. Kai will play for Ateneo in the UAAP and then play for the PBA.

This is the one truth we are afraid of. Let us face it, no natural born FILIPINO will be drafted in the NBA at least the near future. Our nation is not capable of producing a bball player who has the collective skills, height, IQ and maturity required to play in the NBA. Don't worry Kai will give Ateneo another 2 to 3 championships and will make San Miguel a champion for years.
 
Kai's new monicker will be 'Bongga ka Kai' replacing the outdated Jai Reyes' Bongga ka Jai monicker among Ateneo fans and alumni

I doubt it, he is a pro. No way the UAAP board allows it.

And in all teams, San Miguel pa talaga which do not lend players.

Anyway, Kai have other OPTIONS RATHER THAN ANY LEAGUE IN PHILIPPINES.

kaya nga sya bumalik US, and did not stay in Philippines.

If Kai really wanted to play for Ateneo, he will not leave to go back to US immediately.

Pretty sure, they know the situation already aboit gleague bubble.

As for No filipino will be drafted in Nba, I beg to disagree. They will be in the near future
 
Don't take selfishness and self interest for granted. These two are the most powerful motivating factors behind any planned change in league rules.

Let's look at the number's game. Ateneo would need an approval from the majority of UAAP members. UST, La Salle, FEU and UE will have a high chance of rejecting it. Adamson and NU might also vote against it. They are direct competitors of Ateneo. Why would they allow that?

I love your optimism. I can compare it to the Filipinos' dream of a better nation when Duterte was elected president in 2016. Look what happened. Marami pa ring nangangarap ng gising o ayaw gumising.

For us to change, we have to first accept our shortcomings and weaknesses. If we don't, we will never change for the better.
 
With what happened, I am expecting memes and other bad jokes from bashers when the Smart Commercial airs with Kai saying the lines "I am Smart" or "Smart Ako." haha

Filipinos are known for their shortsightedness and 'bahala na si Batman' or fatalistic mentality. No long-term plans whatsoever.

If we only knew how to fix ourselves, we should have sent a Philippine-born player to the NBA in the 90's when the PBA opened its doors to foreigners.

Fix our culture first and then we will be truly world class in all areas including sports. Ngayon world class tayo for low IQ and misplaced fanaticism
 
If 1gdl is uncertain after playing in pro 3x3 circuit how much more kai who is earning pro money?

No. The "SMARTer" guy in this whole episode is daddy Ervin. Because the money will flow directly to his account. His son will only receive "tingi-tingi". Probably as a compensation SMART and PLDT will give them stock options. Ahihi. :D lol


Im stil in awe how they (Kai and his team) threw away this opportunity to play in the GLeague.
 
Hope Kai will play in any other leagues outside Philippines

He is already 1 year without Playing 5V5 organized ball
