Yeah. Gilas season means IBN expected to be getting even more toxic as there will be a lot of heated discussions, arguments, whining & personal attacks coming from all directions

Guys, relax lang po tayo! Lets keep our discussions as harmonious as possible without resorting to hostility & personal attacks. After all, we're supposed to be on the same team here & that team is Gilas.

Gilas season is on!!!!!

That second paragraph is ideal.(I also hope so) But very unlikely.

Just look now. Hehe. Lmao

Because this forum has evolved to knowing
"Who is right' instead of " What is right"

Is it possible that Kai will just get tested and if negative he can SKIP the quarantine and start practicing?

Well, sana nga. But very unlikely. What would happen is that Kai gets a swab test after a few days from now & even if he is negative of Covid, he still has to complete the 14-day mandatory quarantine. The explanation is that, even if Kai gets a negative result, it might be that the Covid virus has not yet activated itself in his system. 14 days daw yung incubation period ng Covid sa system ng tao. So Kai still has to complete the 14-day quarantine period.

I don’t really expect Kai to dominate but I think he’ll hold his own based on way coaches said in the bubble. Also with this team he’s the most talented player on the team. No way they can’t find a way for him to contribute even with limited minutes

well the good thing is that Kai did practice with the team for a few weeks? i think. so for familiarity sake, i think he already has some knowledge unless if he forgot everything. but should still be okay since he has not played any organized basketball yet.

im still high on kai will make the gilas team for clark and he will be used sparingly i suppose.

Buoy how excited are you to prove yourself right

It was proven eversince that some here strongly doubt and hate Kai.lol If kai would perform less this window, it would just be because of lack of practice and familiarity.

An article was written about Kai and SBP would play Kai by the ear. I am not familiar with the idiom but it meant that they would probably play him even without practice.hehe

Those who say that TAB will play him because of pressure from MVP doesnt really understand the situation. Gilas needs Kai because he is their best player. That was the reason for his posturing and demands through the media. His no special preference were just bluffs and to appease those that were diligent in practicing. Kai is no ordinary talent and is sought after. He isnt the same with others who doesnt have other option other than Gilas and Tab would go through the approval of the EWP ladies.lol that is the hardest negotiation he will make and he cant just push his blunt ways with them.

To Jack Reaper I didnt start the idiocy here, the trolls and the alternick owners who were very obvious are the most toxic posters here. I dont want to be dragged arguing about politics in this forum.

My take on Kai was mostly spot on for instance I was insisting that they wont let Kai travel alone. Kai said in his interview yesterday that supposedly they will all travel together but there aint space for 5 on that flight. That was part of the factors to consider in dealing with Kai and not just blabber on demands that he immediately go here. Kai even spend several days with his family. Those days would have added to his practice time after quarantine.

Gilas has no chance in the world to beat Serbia. The only question is if how big or small Serbia's winning margin would be over Gilas. I would be very happy if Gilas loses to Serbia by not more than 25 pts. I'm confident most of us Pinoy IBN posters here don't expect much of our chances in the OQT. Safe to say that majority of us here understand basketball well enough.

I'm afraid the same could not be said about those average Pinoy basketball fans. You bet that regardless of whether we lose to Serbia by a big or a small margin, these fans will still whine, criticize & ridicule coach Jong, Tab Baldwin & the entire Gilas team.

I remember during the 2014 FIBA World Cup. A friend of mine who is an averaged basketball fan (Manonood lang yan ng basketball during an NBA finals. Well everybody watches NBA finals eh. A prime example of riding on the NBA finals bandwagon), whined about why Pinoy fans made a big deal about our close loses to Croatia, Argentina & Puerto Rico and winning against Senegal. He asked what's the point eh eliminated naman daw tayo. That friend of mine has no idea about world level basketball. Tumahimik na lang ako. No point arguing with an ignorant soul.

That friend of mine typifies the mentality of those average Pinoy basketball fans.

I don't really care about the final scores in the OQT. It's already a blessing that we somehow managed to get in. I want to see how much progress we made since Tab took over. I want to see our young players play through adversity and how much did they improve and what level they currently at.

Yeah for sure we could expect some overreactions from each one of these games. And the usual "where are my favorite players'.

I think Kai was here for only a few days, perhaps no more than 7 days, last February. And of course he also had to spend a few days in the quarantine facility. My bet is he trained with Gilas in Calamba last February for no more than 3 days.

I feel his few days of practice with Gilas is insignificant in so far as his familiarity (or lack of it) with coach Tab's system & cohesion with other Gilas players are concerned.

oh then if true thats insignificant. i was under the impression he trained for at least two weeks.

Just to remind everyone here that then incoming sophomore for Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis ANTETOKOUNMPO(averaged 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 77 appearances during his rookie season) only averaged 6.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.3 assist per game for the Greece national team in the 2014 FIBA World Cup and scored only 3 points against the Gilas Pilipinas..

If we can stick to those teams finishing within 10 points, that's fine with me. No need to be down.

He played minor minutes. I watched that game and didnt even notice him. No one complained that he didnt play a lot. He hadnt accomplish anything at that point even if he was already a bonafide NBA player.

Perhaps during the 2014 FIBA World Cup, nobody thought Giannis would someday become an NBA MVP. Perhaps some people thought Giannis would become an NBA star (not a superstar) at best.

I think greece didn’t bring their A-game and let some players including giannis to play limited mins.
It’s okay if someone in gilas try to limit giannis to 3pts? Lol.

Play Kai by the ear, SBP says. I hate to be a pessimist but it seems tantamount to the "bahala na si batman" mantra. But anyways, I'm still offering full support for the kid. I hope that he makes good use of the minutes and possessions that he'll get.

I hope Kai can play this 3rd window and OQT.

Asia Cup and NBL may conflict, especially Kai said he will fly to Australia after OQT. (hoping for Kai to Join Asia Cup still though)

SBP special assistant to the president Ryan Gregorio said in avoiding the quarantine requirement, each visiting team must submit to a bubble-to-bubble protocol. “They have to come as a team from their own bubble,” he explained. “It’s a bubble to bubble arrangement for all teams. Unfortunately, Kai Sotto is not exempted kasi dapat, team bubble to Clark bubble.”
