Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Expect embarrassment at OQT. Just like how Thirdy had growing pains in the B League, Kai will also get them especially after 2 years of no actual games. If Kai isn't playing until OQT, then he will be in for a shock, regardless of his talent level.

Also, to whom it may be concerned, GROW UP. It's not personal politics that shit up this board, it's personal behavior. And as adults you should know when to act like a spoiled brat and when not to. Posting in IBN isn't one of them. If you think the people you're politically against in IBN behaved like idiots, THEN WALK THE TALK AND DON'T FOLLOW THEM. Kakahiya kayo.

Ah GILAS season is upon us.. I expect this board to be very lively until December. Play nice guys

There goes most of poster’s speculation here that Kai Sotto is not committed to play for the Philippines national team..(wag kasi pangunahan ang Sotto family sa paghandle sa career ng ANAK nila) ;)

I feel no one is expecting to win against Serbia in OQT. DR is very hard too, though imo we have 5% of upsetting them.

Agreed. This is Kai Sotto thread. Politics and such issues should not be dicussed heavily here imo.

16 days before the Continuous 1 year of games of Kai in an official 5V5 games

Counting all 3rd window, OQT, and Asia Cup, and NBL. Kai will have more than 50 games in span of 1 year

And heck, may mga bobong DDS pala dito  No wonder this forum went to shit :p Putang ina, relihiyosong baptist pero DDS sobrang ogag yung ampota hahaha

According to surveys, anti-Duterte are a minority so you'll be expecting DDS almost everywhere.

Please stop mentioning politics, guys. It is ruining IBN.

A little more than 2 weeks before the games. No wonder IBN is heating up. Trolls here they come!

Is he too late for acq or will tab still choose him for the final 12 no matter what?

The Serbia game is going to a clinic. DR probably won't play nice with us too.

PeeZones started it. Some posters followed.

Well, he can play the OQT. We don't have any idea if he can play against Korea and the rest of ACQ. I hope that he can play for FIBA-Asia Cup since that's where the big chunk of games for Gilas come.

i think its too late but i still think he will be im the final 12 and will play backup. we might see twin tower plays for kouame and kai. im excited to see who is better. kouame trained locally or kai trained in the US. i think i already know the answer to this.

Like many in this forum, I believe that the Gilas campaign in three tournaments spanning from June to August is a perfect venue to showcase Kai to the world and to his team in NBL.

This is good for Kai for three reasons:

1) He is going to play a real competitive basketball for the first time within a year not just a pick up or tune-up game. Expect no non-sense defense against him.

2) He can gauge his level by playing the following:

- Ra Guna
- Lester Prosper
- Chanatip Jakrawan
- Curtis Washington
- Jonathan Galloway
- Takeuchi twins
- Ryan Rossiter
- Hamed Haddadi and the Iranian bigs
- Al-Dwairi and the Jordanian bigs
- Ater Majok and the Lebanese bigs
- Chinese bigs
- Australian bigs
- Rob Loe
- Serbian bigs
- Dominican bigs

3) He will play a substantial amount of games needed to prepare his mind and body in the NBL.

- 3 games in ACQ
- Min of 2 games in OQT
- Max of 6 games in FIBA-Asia Cup

That's 11 games of real competitive basketball. I believe Adelaide will want to see Kai play in Gilas so that they will have a preview of what he might actually offer to their team.

Agreed.

I am excited to see Kai his first official 5V5 game after a long time.

To see where is Kai's level now

He is probably too late for ACQ, but he will still get picked for the Final 12. His talent and size are too much to let go just for cohesion's sake. I'd rather have Kai out there than another 6'6 slow footed big with limited offense, for example.

Yeah. Gilas season means IBN expected to be getting even more toxic as there will be a lot of heated discussions, arguments, whining & personal attacks coming from all directions

Guys, relax lang po tayo! Lets keep our discussions as harmonious as possible without resorting to hostility & personal attacks. After all, we're supposed to be on the same team here & that team is Gilas.

Gilas season is on!!!!!

Agreed.

Actually this would be Kai's debut tournament for a FIBA "senior" level competition. We could sense the excitement & anticipation of everyone.

Gilas has no chance in the world to beat Serbia. The only question is if how big or small Serbia's winning margin would be over Gilas. I would be very happy if Gilas loses to Serbia by not more than 25 pts. I'm confident most of us Pinoy IBN posters here don't expect much of our chances in the OQT. Safe to say that majority of us here understand basketball well enough.

I'm afraid the same could not be said about those average Pinoy basketball fans. You bet that regardless of whether we lose to Serbia by a big or a small margin, these fans will still whine, criticize & ridicule coach Jong, Tab Baldwin & the entire Gilas team.

I remember during the 2014 FIBA World Cup. A friend of mine who is an averaged basketball fan (Manonood lang yan ng basketball during an NBA finals. Well everybody watches NBA finals eh. A prime example of riding on the NBA finals bandwagon), whined about why Pinoy fans made a big deal about our close loses to Croatia, Argentina & Puerto Rico and winning against Senegal. He asked what's the point eh eliminated naman daw tayo. That friend of mine has no idea about world level basketball. Tumahimik na lang ako. No point arguing with an ignorant soul.

That friend of mine typifies the mentality of those average Pinoy basketball fans.

Remember Tab's quote about how Serbia can't score on all their possessions and Gilas has a chance to make a basket every possession? I have a feeling Serbia will make it a challenge to see how long they can shut us out from the start of the game and how many consecutive baskets they can make.

for sure he will struggle. wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt make the team in clark. due to limited time with the team. plus he would look bad if he struggled. so we can just wait for him in the next tournament i suppose.

I don’t really expect Kai to dominate but I think he’ll hold his own based on way coaches said in the bubble. Also with this team he’s the most talented player on the team. No way they can’t find a way for him to contribute even with limited minutes
