Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

I'll play devil's advocate here and forecast that SBP is going to do some magical strokes! Lol! It may be that Kai was already here days ago (completed his quarantine) and it was kept hush hush and will start practicing with the team this week. Remember how they fooled everyone back in Feb-March? Or may shortcut na mangyayari with those IATF protocols and Kai will still get to practice earlier than expected. Either way Kai will probably play garbage minutes in the first game but will play heavy minutes in games 2 and 3. Booom!!

I was wondering if Kai has been vaccinated while in the US. If he is indeed vaccinated, I see no reason why he should be withheld and spend his 2 weeks inside the quarantine facility. IATF, IMO, should come up with new protocol with respect to people already vaccinated.

Can afford to play Kai in no bearing games and use them as pang tune up.
Although winning vs Korea which is rare regardless if it has no bearing to qualifying is a big deal..

Not really, as vaccination does not protect against infection but only from getting sick or severely sick. The purpose of the quarantine period is to ensure one is not infected

Regardless if he is or not and like I said even if he comes in to practice 1 week before tournament time...Tab is going to have alot of pressure not mainly from the fans but from his benefactors and sponsors (SBP and MVP group) to play Kai in any of those 3 games even for garbage minutes. I definitely get his point on needing alot of time and commitment for any player who wants to make a crack in the lineup, but considering that we are already a lock in advancing (I just dont see Indonesia beating us even without Kai) he can afford to play Kai even for 10 minutes a game just to satisfy the Big Bosses and the rabid Kai fans.

I don't know man. One poster here thinks COVID is a hoax, so he probably thinks Kai should just endanger the whole team and have him dive in straight into the bubble without quarantine.

Anyway, it's a good thing Kai's home. Though I doubt he'll get a lot of minutes in the ACQ (probably 10-15 mins vs Indonesia), he'll prolly play backup to Ange in Serbia. Looking forward to how he'll fare against real pros in a real competitive game. Note he hasn't played competitive bball for a while and all he's doing is training with certain trainers. Apparently, according to some idiots with shell companies, questionable business practices, and a failure of an app, that's enough to make it to the NBA. He's claims he's better at dribbling his balls better than the rest of the people here, so that makes him a pseudo-basketball genius. It'd be better to ignore this SOB, but the entertainment value is pretty high, so yeah, might want to play a bit. Kita mo, kahit pusa tinitira eh hahaha

And heck, may mga bobong DDS pala dito  No wonder this forum went to shit :p Putang ina, relihiyosong baptist pero DDS sobrang ogag yung ampota hahaha

Was playing devils advocate there...We all know how demanding the MVP group is. LOL!

This. It helps but you still need to implement extra precautions to really avoid getting infected. It's better not to risk it.
Also I'm not sure they'll be lenient again this time as someone leaked some clips online the last time they slipped in Kai

Well, who doesn't want to beat South Korea who has tormented Phi basketball for decades now? Every win over Korea is gratifying for the Phi basketball community. I say we make Korea bleed in the nose kahit one game lang.

Lol is that yellowtard calling out a DDS? Lmao that’s the pot calling the kettle black :D

Even with Ratliffe and their D1 talent I think with Kai and kouame, it’s going to be possible the game is going to be very competitive and the score will be close, I still give the edge to Korea but I think Gilas can pull an upset

Wait, any idea what’s tab’s record against south korea? Including his stints with other national teams

Not sure if that's relevant because Jordan was an average team but was very disciplined on defense. Sure, they'd beat Korea (Jones Cup 2011), Gilas 1, and Iran on a good day but would lose to China, Japan, and even Taipei on bad days. I don't read Arabic so I'll leave the rest of the Google searching to others as there's not much info on his short time in Lebanon other than winning the FIBA Asia Stankovic Cup which they hosted. The point is we don't need to question his record because his teams beat better teams in the 2010's with inferior talent. I was so sure Gilas 1 would beat Jordan in the semis after they struggled to close out the game in the second round... but that was the beauty of Tab's Jordan team. It was so unpredictable.

Tab Baldwin teams starts slow, given na yan.. and the teams first games is OQT level, are we sure we are bullet proof to criticisms from SBP founding member Chino Trinidad hehe, di nato tulad ng tune up against estonia dati.. its a real tournament..

I wasn't trying to discredit Tab, he once steered new Zealand to the semis and that will always be a testament to how good he is. But certain styles make the difference, just like marquez with Pacquiao.

Dude, how old were you in 2011? I could recall RP Team games as far back as 1994. Look no further, that 2015 Gilas team was crap on paper and it wasn't looking too good when they lost to Palestine but it did help that Blatche was more dominant than Haddadi and Yi. As for the last OQT, he had a better grasp on Philippine basketball and PBA clubs were all-in lending their better players. It just came down to the lack of experience at that level.

Tab basically runs his teams like a mid-tier European club. A lot of off-ball action like pin down screens that gets mismatches in the perimeter, on defense he likes guys who can defend multiple positions (remember the crap he got for picking Parks over Abueva?) because he likes to switch everything over staying home.

It's quite similar to Toroman but the difference was that Tab's pool has more ceiling while Toroman opted to space the floor with more shooters (Baracael and Lassiter played the 4 & 3 lol). It's not just the players available at that time, but also how the game evolved. Now, if someone like Go or Balti is left open... you know they'll take it. Maybe even Kouame has a green light to shoot from the outside.

I agree, I think with the size at the wings, the matchups won’t be as much of problem from the perimeter. When Thailand played Korea the game was close because they were able to disrupt Korea’s offense switches and man to man do Korea couldn’t get many clean looks and fumbled passes. When they started going inside and post up with their size Thailand couldn’t match up and the gap widened. That’s where having Kai and Kouame inside can help.

The good thing bro math, astigram and robert is that Kai would really be home. He will most likely at least play during OQT. Tab with all his demands isnt stupid to not include Kai. All his demands where just to put pressure on Kai but we all know that he doesnt have the leverage. Those EWP ladies arent pushovers.lol

Duterte cant solve everything but he solve EDSA. He is also the only leader in the world whose approval and satisfaction rating is way above the usual even at the end of his term. Idiots would need to deal with the duterte's for another 6yrs.lol

You're really delusional. I thought it was just a case of nuthugging Kai.
Duterte solved EDSA? LOL. Are you from Manila? You do know that traffic is still lighter because of the pandemic? Public transpos are limited.
Actually there are two leaders in the world whose approval and satisfaction rating is way above the usual, the other one is Kim Jong-Un.
