Filipino Players in Foreign Leagues

Didn't Baldwin say in that spin.ph interview he wants a minimum of 3 weeks for players flying in/being invited to (why Dwight Ramos is now untouchable compared to a JGDL or Thirdy) to a bubble setting? It was also interesting how he broke down the levels of competition in terms of having a particular player in the lineup, RJ Abarrientos is a sure starter at the Southeast Asian level but needs to be an elite defender (which he's not yet) if he has a shot of making the roster against the world class ones like Serbia just because 5'11 is just too short.

Apart from Kai... I'm waiting on whoever's left of that 2019 team to express their intent this week otherwise it'll be just the guys in the bubble plus Kai, JGDL, and maybe Thirdy in the OQT pool. The Ateneo team made it a game with a full-strength Korea so I guess it'll just come to breaks of the game with the current pool. Heading is probably an upgrade over Neito while the rest of the guys have more length and shooting than Ateneo 2 years ago. That said, I just don't think anyone needs to panic over Indonesia without Kai. Tamtambakin nila yan.

Dwight Ramos has been inside the bubble since May 12. JGDL missed the last bubble. Thirdy still has B-League commitments until the end of may.

"Thirdy have some commitments that carry him through the end of May. And I've already spoken to Thirdy and Thirdy has spoken with his team,"

According to a source from SBP. Kai will arrive here on Monday on June 1.

And will finish all protocols in June 14(according to source)

First game against Korea is June 16.

Only 2 days in between.

Honestly, there is a chance Kai will not play in 1st game, but will play the next 2 games

But if coach tab will implement his ruling to Kai without exception. Kai will probably play in OQT and Asia Cup where he really clearly commited

Kai's handlers are blowinh something. Is his time so valuable that he cant arrive here earlier? After quarantine he is obviously too late for the Asian Qualifiers. But will he even make it in time for the OQT? Barring injuries the OQT team will probably be the same as the AQ.

Kai has potential. But he hasnt played a real 5x5 game in years. He is not a role playing defensive big that you can just put in. He is an offensive player with some defensive deficiencies. The team literally has to adjust for him. Of course Tabs focus is for the team. But what if he benches Kai because he is not playing well can you imagine the outcry? I dont expect him to let Kai play if the team suffers with him on the court.

His handlers are making him out to be a high level plug and play player. Of course he is not. He is only 19 and when did we see him play a real 5x5 game? Half courts and scrimmages don't count.

How long has Dwight been practicing with the team? How long has Kai? Kai had scrimmages with Kouame but I dont think he practiced with the whole team at all. So he has virtually ZERO practices with the team and you compare him with Dwight who has been with this team since Tab took over and was our best player in the last phase?

Also, when Gretchen Ho's channel posted a video of Kai practicing with the team back in Feb, it did feel strange because everyone back then was too pre-occupied with the whole saga of EWP being complete jerks that we all forgot the couple of days that Kai was out of quarantine... he went straight to work with Gilas when Kiefer was still in the bubble. Then it occurred to me that is it possible that the SBP can just bribe the IATF and let Kai disregard the protocol and join the team?

Well, if we look at long term goal, its still more logical that coach Tab plays Kai in the OQT even if he'll only have about 2 weeks to train with Gilas. Better that he gets the feel of playing actual tournament games for Gilas for now.

Here's my take, if we don't play Kai in the OQT, kailan pa sya makakalaro ng official FIBA senior's game? I mean, in the upcoming 2021 FIBA Asia Cup this August, there's no guarantee that the Adelaide 36ers would allow Kai to play for Gilas becoz Kai might be on training with the 36ers by that time.

lame reason by ewp actually. their reason is the 14 day quarantine then they should’ve gone to RP around 1st week of may not tail end of may

the after birthday miami training was imo, is to spite sbp nothing more. tab should just stick to his preparations. imo, kai should just sit this third window, and keep him training for the asian.

He will play... garbage minutes.

For Indonesia, he might play more minutes but don't expect him to be the main anchor on offense.

OQT is his best shot to make himself integral to the team. ACQ is a lost cause in terms of including him in the main rotation.

Bro, I've seen at least 3 different clips of Kai with the team and all were on 5on5s. We look beyond just winning this AQ, this AQ should also be treated as a preparation for the OQT and all other tournaments as preparation for the world cup. There's 12 spots for each games and there are players in the pool who should not even be there.

Agree. As I said in my previous post, if we look at long term goal, Kai playing in the OQT would be logical.

If he's vaccinated sure. But if he's not is it really worth it to risk his and everyone's safety just to have a few days of practice?

That is what i'm trying to tell to everyone here.. Masyado nila dinidibdib yung value ng ACQ at OQT.. These tournaments are not so important for Gilas.. The main focal point is the 2023.. Yun ang goal...

Then forget about building chemistry and cohesion? Okay sir..

Some vaccines dont protect you from being an asymptomatic carrier and you still can spread the virus. From the latest articles I think only Pfizer and Moderna have been proven in protecting people from being carriers.

masyado dinidibdib pero gusto mo astang superman si kai na maski di pa bonafide pro at walang official game in more than a year e yakang yaka nya sumabak agad maski walang practice. ok

A wise man once told me, pag ayaw may dahilan, pag gusto maraming paraan, wag pilitin ang ayaw, If Kai and his handlers don't want Kai to suit up for Gilas, so be it, time to move on

I dont think we have already qualified for the ACQ. And I dont think Kai will get an exemption for the 14 day quarantine. I dont think Kai will join the ACQ. Meaningless or not it gives a wrong message. You dont have to practice to be in the team. You've got your priorities wrong. You want to give an exemption to Kai so he can make actual games as practice games. Wow. He must be really good to have this privilege? He must have done something like win 6th man of the year in NBA? Or even played in a seniors league?

I think the least Tab can do is consider Kai for the OQT. If he thinks he can use him based on his performance in practice he will play.

I don't think any vaccine can. But at least it minimizes the risks. That's why it's still important to take precautions even if you completed the 2 doses. The whole team is already vaccinated right?

Our target is 2023.. Not today... The game Gilas will goes on, The chemistry will develop slowly but surely.. Don't rush things first.. The main purpose as of now is to have bonding w/ Kai and his teammates.. I'm sure even they are excited that Kai will join... Yun muna ang target.. OK!!!

That's why as early as now kai is with the team. Now instead of him playing in ACQ, doubtful pa.. but good thing he's in RP.. anyway..

This is the vibes I'm getting. It's gonna be interesting how this plays out. I sincerely hope it pays off for both parties. Remember they're representing us for the foreseeable future
