But iba parin if Kai is there.. Do you have the confidence w/ Gilas will be a good team w/o him? If now Kai's camp and Gilas camp can't reach the agreement for his services eh lalo na in 2023 if Kai is already in the NBA... Mas mahirap ang pagkuha ng services kay Kai because he has big commitments in his professional career... w/o him eh plans of having Clarkson as naturalized player for 2023 eh alanganin because we don't have big man to counter other teams.. So SBP will force to pick Kouame as NP for us.. Dapat SBP and Kai's camp should have a good agreement and good relationship for his services for the better of all...

THere is a good chance if Kai is successful in his NBA career,Gilas will never see him play until the NBA let him go.

Kaya nga it's up nalang to SBP and Tab if they want him to join or not.. But we have to remember.. We are talking to Kai.. He's our one of main players in the future.. SBP, Tab and Kai's camp should have a good relationship moving forward.. Makakaapekto to sa future stints w/ Gilas.. If SBP and Kai's camp can't agree w/ each other now eh paano pa sa future? What if we will see again this issue in 2023? Baka even in 2023 eh Kai will not play for 2023 WC because of disagreement between Gilas camp and Kai's camp.. This is not about for this year.. This is also for future games of Gilas.. Dapat Kai's camp and SBP/Tab have a good relationship w/ Kai because he is our main big man as of now...

why it’s up to sbp and tab? training goes on with them even without kai.. it really is from EWP group.. tab set guidlines, if no kai then fine. life goes on and continue training.. have you heard from sbp and tab pressuring kai? no right? i don’t know why people keep barking the wrong tree here.. in this ewp/kai-sbp thing, it’s always sbp fault when majority sees EWP are at fault..

ewan ba sa mga yan blaming tab. kai is now back in ohio. his after birthday miami training is maybe a way to keep him out of gilas training and their excuse was the iatf. yes, tab should keep his course, not be distracted.

Kai is now available but who set the deadline and not assuring Kai's spot? What is the point of travelling and not be included?

OT: i have watched Dallas vs Clippers and notice how limited KP these days. His limited low post skills and more of perimeter oriented offense has been the reason for his decline these days. He will rarely have scoring opportunities because doncic eats most of the perimeter possession. His height was virtually useless. It would have been best if he could score underneath and provide another scoring option.

Webanya and Holgrem could encounter the same dilemma. The NBA is dominated by perimeter guys.

You're right.. Ito Di maintindihan ng iba.. Kai's camp are disappoint on set of deadline when he will come me.. akala eh world cup hahandain nila eh this is for oqt Lang!! Akala siguro ng sbp at ni tab eh hahabulin lagi ni Kai ang gilas stint.. because of them and eh his ignite stint derailed...

simple.. kai is no other player. he needs to earn that spot.. no exceptions.. even kabayan clarkson needs to earn his.. no special treatment needed for kai.. even the PBA players need to earn that spot.. that’s why tab set guidelines and that’s why tab said 3 weeks. i don’t think EWP is disappointed..

and going back to february window, SBP didn’t know that kai is coming. so yeah SBP is at fault for EWP pulling out kai during the middle of ignite preparation for gilas stint. SBP has no fault on that one..

We're blaming him because he's too much talking w/o thinking that he hurts someone other people or other camp.. oo they can manage to prepare but w/o Kai? Baka quarterfinals stint sa main FIBA Asia cup sa August eh alanganin pa because of strong teams coming out of nowhere... Pabayaan nalang nya sa sbp on handling Kai's commitment.. we will worry that this will not the last time we will see this issue.. tab should shout his mouth out of it and focus on the program..

post a link that tab talks about kai this month? No? none?

Tab is focus on his program. set guidelines that’s it. simple.. like i said with or without kai, life goes on for gilas preparation for ACQ, OQT. you got it wrong about everything here that tab talks too much about kai..

kai and ewp hurt? lol..

- Truth hurts. You people just want to sugarcoat things even if we need some slap from reality. By using your logic, we should not blame PBA, SBP and SMC for debacles in FIBA tournaments when it is obvious that these are their fault. We should not also blame PBA for meddling in the CTG program for our 3x3.

- Also, it seems that you are high on Kai very much. Well, Kai has yet to prove himself in any real senior-level competition. On top of that, he has yet to play a real game for more than a year. Therefore, I beg to disagree with you bigtime. In contrast, Tab is a proven tactician. He led an aging Gilas to a silver medal finish and an undersized Tall Blacks to semifinals in World Championship.

- You don't understand the importance of preparing in playing for international tournaments then. You envy much Korea and other European countries. Well, they are always prepping for long periods. You think that inserting a player who is not so familiar with the system, like Kai, will do better?

- Tab's statement is just guideline. It is reminder to Kai that if he is really willing to play for Gilas, then he must go here earlier so that he will not look like a lost kid in the system especially in real games.

- Also, what do you think about OQT? Just like the SEA Games?

You guys are just blindly following Kai and EWP kahit sablay na.

Here we debating whether or not just a couple of weeks training for the Kid is a huge deal as he is halted from doing training in the US while all other cadets have been working their assess off practicing for a couple of months now. Give me a break. Need I to remind you that Kai Sotto and his camp committed to playing for Gilas this upcoming tournaments a month AFTER Tab's interview of training for no less than 3 weeks. For sure they already know. So what happened? Suddenly their schedule got busy? And you're all blindly blaming Tab for all of this? EWP is squeaky clean?

Give me a break.

If those words of "3 weeks training" Tab said a couple of months ago really hurt their camp then they wouldn't even have announced to Kai committing in the first place.

Werent flipflopping, you dont have to be salty all these times.lol You should read this to refresh your memory.

MANILA, Philippines – Tab Baldwin has not changed his stand on where Kai Sotto should play next.

The 7-foot-2 wunderkind has received multiple offers from European teams but the Ateneo Blue Eagles mentor believes staying here in the Philippines remains as the optimal choice that will benefit Sotto's future.

"I've been on the record already saying Kai's best decision would be to stay here. I haven't changed that," Baldwin said on Friday, March 15.

"I still believe that's the case and I think people just don't understand what it means to go into the European theater and how difficult that is especially for a kid."

The 16-year-old prodigy has previously revealed he is close to making a decision on his future, whether that be heading overseas or remaining in the UAAP where he still has two years of eligibility for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets.

Among the reported teams who have tendered their offers to Sotto are EuroLeague's Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Baskonia and Bundesliga's Alda Berlin.

Sotto recently said Liga ACB's Movistar Estudiantes has also joined the sweepstakes, making it a total of 5 European teams vying for the young Filipino big man's services.

While basketball fans, pundits and players are encouraging the big move to Europe, Baldwin is adamant it is here in the Philippines where Sotto will make significant progress in his development.

"If he's a pro getting over there to play, I think it's fantastic. But he's a kid who needs to be developed and that needs to be the emphasis. It shouldn't be about what team he's going to play for," Baldwin said.

"The next significant teams that he plays for should be in the NBA. And the best way for him to get there is to get himself into development program and not into where he has to give his skills and ability to a team."

"It should be in a situation where there are coaches devoting themselves in his development and his future. And I think we can do that here and I don't think that can be done overseas." – Rappler.com

- Tab's statements came 3 years ago - when Kai was a kid. He is just a raw talent with potential even until today.

- May I ask you what Kai is currently doing? He is undergoing specialized individual trainings, isn't he? That was what Tab was saying in this article.

- He has a point because if you can bring the best trainers and skills coaches here, why go abroad? And this is what exactly Kai is currently doing. If he is eligible to play NCAA, may be I will disagree with Tab but he is not eligible.

I believe in Kai, but he is not an otherworldly talent like clarkson, or even blatche. If Kai is, I think, even SBP will give him some leeway like 1 week before competition proper, etc., to join the Gilas team and practices.

It's getting tiresome repeating the same things over and over again..

Still no news eh?

Yeah everyone seems to be edgy and sitting on pins and needles anticipating what Kai's next move will be (is he coming home now..or is he flying to Australia first??)..LOL!

Well just to change the flow of the conversation a bit...assuming he does come home to join Gilas in June and somehow gets to practice with Gilas at most I see 2 weeks before tournament time...Tab will be under alot of pressure if he will stubbornly stick with his demand that he won't play Kai if he doesn't get at least a month practice with the team. He will get a ton of backlash not just from pinoy basketball fans but even from SBP and the MVP group...and Tab knows that. I also think EWP is trolling Tab and trying to push their weight around him and trying to prove they still hold the Ace up their sleeve lol!

So expect Kai to play for the team even if he comes in a week before the games...bet on it. So my fearless prediction for his performance is:

- He will be coming off the bench behind Ange in the first 2 games and I see him starting in the final rubber match game against Korea.

- He will most likely average no more than 25 minutes per game.

- Tab through Coach Jong will insist that the team's offensive playbook will still be primarily on Tab's system and will not focus or go through Kai obviously.

- per game average: 12 points 8 rebs 2 blocks 3 assists (he'll manage to get his points in..and he should..he's fricken 7'3" and towers over everyone else on the opposing teams!)

That is actually solid numbers for a 19yrs old Kid. And yes, he is 7'3, he should get rebounds. (I actually hope Kai to average atleast 10rebs in the window)Then putbacks will come to rebounds.

Kai will have touches, But high chance he will not be the 1st option because of lack of practice. But still, I believe he will get his decent amount of touches.

If Kai will play in 3 games. I bet his best performance will be against Indonesia.

Korea have tougher and more quality bigs than Indonesia.

My prediction:.

per game average: 15pts and 10 rebs 2bks, 2asts

Anything less than 25 minutes a game and fans will be calling for Jong' head. Heck if they perceived that Kai isn't getting enough shots they'll be calling for his head anyway.

Would everyone be happy if Kai takes a backseat and focuses on team play instead?

Would everyone be happy with those averages? Or would we be hearing demands for better guards to pass him the ball? Despite being the tallest and probably the most talented player the pinoy "wunderkind" hasn't seen action for over a year now. It won't be as easy as some fans think. For sure they'll come out swinging against Kai. Would he be able to to match their intensity?

Remains to be seen. But in all honesty I see Kai having a big impact for Gilas defensively once he's on the floor and maybe a so-so to decent performance offensively with a couple of fumbles and brain farts but this is more because he has to play within Tab's system and the fact he hasn't played an official FIBA game in 2 years...but unfortunately to the casual and rabid Kai fans out there they may view it differently and start raising hell in social media and blame Jong and Tab for not giving Kai more touches, plays and minutes. Thats just the reality of it all.

if ever kai makes it to gilas team surely he will play backup role to kouame. diehard
fans will ask for tabs head for sure.

Mga ugok maghintay na lang kayo. Dami nyong reklamo. Puro kayo angal. - Translation : You be trippin on something coz you're whiny as hell. Effin wait or yo just bitches ridin Kai's d.

kai cocksucker

I hope they televise his games in Australia. NBL is one of the best leagues in the world. I hope his coach give him some playing time just what they did to John Mooney.

i hope as well. they can use kai as leverage to reach out to pinoy fans just like what japan league did.

A bit off-topic:

anyone know what the CBA is like?

Do you think our future young players should play there?
