EWP statement said only that "IGNITE AND KAI AGREED MUTUALLY FOR KAI NOT TO ENTER IN ORLANDO BUBBLE"
That means Kai will still train under Ignite. As usual.
Pagkatapos ng Gleague Orldando Bubble, the Ignite contract is not even finish right? So all prospects in Ignite will still be under the training program
Sigh. What a let down. Another Japeth, Rayray, Kiefer and Kobe. It was so close. Well we can say unlike those before him, it's his handlers that screwed up.
It will be another boring IBN until the next promising prospect appears.

There is a big difference , when one holds both roles there is indeed conflict of interest and obviously bad decision making for the welfare of the player
Why wouldn't they? It's their job. Before that win Korea always has our number. But Kai's team still has the final say. Heck if you believe a certain someone he was even offered daw. Everybody knew it was a bad move career wise but still we can't fault the kid's commitment. They were well aware of the risk but still pushed through. Too bad the worst possible outcome occured..

If that was just commitment and without renumeration and utang loob, kai and his handlers would have done the dumbest decision ever. Obviously, a lot was offered on the table. If that was really a very crucial game wherein we are in the brink of elimination then we could have understand. This was a non-bearing window and a very difficult to arrange for the kid. He also has a commitment with Ignite. If you weigh things, this was really superficial for Gilas as a program and for Kai's career. 2023 is too far and Kai would have a lot of opportunities to represent Gilas before world cup.
Look for other optons first, & if there's none, then the 3rd window would be a good one. After all, Kai seems to have been itching to play for Gilas senior team.
I just hope that Kai isn't that emotionally down after what happened. We all know its a loss for Kai not able to play for Ignite in the ongoing G-league. We all know the amount of negative effect it will impact on Kai's chances of being drafted in the NBA this year. But things happened and there's nothing anybody can do about it. Kai & his handlers must pick up the pieces & move on. It doesn't mean naman na nadapa ka eh di ka na pweding tumayo.
For us fans, let's mitigate the blaming game that we usually do everytime someone stumbled on a blunder like this one. Blaming won't help. Let's not make too much of a fuss regarding this matter. Its not the end of the road for Kai. Very very far from it. Natalisod lang si Kai & he will stand up & pick up the pieces. He needs our support so suporta nalang tayo, please.
I don't get why others are blaming SBP? With so many invited players not joining the Calamba bubble, Kai not joining it would be a non issue. Also he is just 18 and still too "soft" for Philippine basketball standards (how pinoys prefer to play the game). It's not like Gilas will live and die with Kai.
It seems to be a completely EWP blunder. 2 poor performances in scrimmages and they're scared s**t that Kai won't get drafted. They should have been patient as Kai grows in the 15 games of Ignite. He will get his touches as he and his teammates get to know each other. But they choose Gilas to impress the scouts with three games against Korea and Indonesia.
Can't blame others for breaking down with how emotionally invested they are with Kai's NBA journey.

This is so sad,on youtube videos not a single Filipino commenter,lamented that the kid would have been better off if he went to college,even for 2 years.He will get the benefit of a college education,the experience to be among his peers,be the big man in the campus,have a gf,be in a team that would showcase his talents with a patient coaching staff.In other words,they took away what he could have been as a person,years from now he will put the blame on everyone but himself specially the pressure from a whole country helll bent on getting this kid in the NBA.I hope Cholo and other Filipino talents are taking notes,the Gleague and other pro ball clubs are not the only way to the NBA.
In the NCAA at any given time,he would have faced,other NBA ready talent game in,game out and the most important thing is for just a brief moment he would experience some semblance of a normal life.
