A funny story about the WC between all the spam: During the game Croatia - Australia the referee - Graham Poll (England) - booked the croatian defender Josip Simunic three times (62nd/90th and 93rd minute) before sending him off. FIFA president Blatter is extremely annoyed now and doesn't want Poll do whistle another game at this WC :D

Yeah, I have seen that game. Commentators were really confused after Simunic got his 2nd yellow card and kept playing. ;-)

and what about the second goal of the Switzerland?

The asistant referee drew the flag up. Seeing this, the whole Korean defense stopped. but the game is continued and Frei scored the goal. It was not offside, because the ball came from a Korean player, however the asistant referee's mistake cost Koreans a goal in the end.

Do you also think the referees spend cards too easily? The penalties are also cheaper than it should be (e.g. both penalties given in favor of Spanish team). Those red cards and penalties spoil all the fun I think. Games are broken too early.

There was no offside. There was no refs whistle, so its all Korean problems if they stopped playing. Assistant can do whatever, if ref doesnt whistle, game goes on.

Yup Spanish penalties were weak ones, but actually they dont give penalties they should in this WC very frequently. For example twice in Australia-Croatia game (Viduka was wrestled and Croatia's 2nd handball). And I could think of more situations where they should have given penalties.

Cards... they are much stricter in this champ with it, but I partially agree. Especially I agree with ones disturbing the play (kicking or throwing the ball further after the whistle). Of course there are some teribble refs like Merk, who think of theirselves as stars and whistle every time they think they didnt get attention for last few minutes (and Essien has to miss 1/8 game because of that).

What a crazy battle for red and yellow cards again Holland and Portugal :D :D :D

OH~~!!!NOOOOOOOOOO!HOLLAND!!!

i second china team on this one I wanted the dutch to advance not the portugese, talk about cards left and right

A coupple of thoughts:

-Australia was robbed yesterday, the refferies are really scary in this world cup...

-In 1990 Camerun defeated 1-0 the world Champions Argentina in the WC opening game, the comment since then has been "here comes Africa", 16 years after that, what a dissapointing performance for the African teams..., only one, Ghana, managed to get to the round of sixteen only to be easily defeated by Brazil which could have won with the U-17 NT, this makes me wonder about this 32 teams experiment Ghana, Togo, Tunez, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, Angola:confused:    ????

What about Serbia- -8 goal diff and 0 points.
oh and Ghana owned another 'great' Euro team-Czech.

32 teams is great. Thats real World Cup-Australia vs Japan or T&T vs Sweden or Tuniz vs S. Arabia. I want to watch team who actualy try not scoring early gol and stay back with 10men(yes Italy, Brazil, Spain I'm watching at you)
