Serbia-Italy in a classic european basketball match

italians leading by 4

Very likely the Serbs will hand DR their first L and Italy will decisively beat the Puerto Ricans for a 3-way tie in this group. American teams who's not the USA almost always does badly against the Europeans

Pozzecco going big was the turning point for this game. It is such a luxury when you can play 6’ 7” guys in Fontecchio and Datome as 2/3, capped by a good sized elite defensive guard in 6’ 4” Pajola.

italy has no real center save for Melli. But there’s value in stuffing length across the roster as it brings a different in-game dynamics that could be very useful. For our current roster, it’s either 2 bigs or small ball, nothing in between.

I don’t think Serbia can win vs DR… their program is a mess too… they look good in the 1st round because their group opponents are weak for them… but they exposed in the 2nd half… they will lose to DR… and also I want Serbia to lose, so that Jokic will regret his decision not to play… they are thinking outright Olympics even its not guarantee a spot…

We used a big lineup before to beat Tunisia. Kouame-Baltazar-Tamayo-Dwight-Thirdy that is proper small ball with an undersized 4. If we could've had replaced Thirdy with Clarkson right there and Kouame for Edu and retained then all the way to this tourney, we would've won vs Angola and possibly DR(hard to tell on the latter since of the style difference).

As long as Serbia plays smart offense and defend decently, I'd bet on DR tripping on itself even if KAT catches fire. Last time they faced Serbia has a way crisper ball movement and killed them on the transition. I have the same prediction with China vs Philippines when Clarkson starts comitting turnovers in the 2nd half. Playing smart and big is something that we have a common struggle with American teams who rely a lot on their agility.

Fontecchio is what we hope Carl Tamayo will be. Nothing fancy, just pure fundamentals and buckets.

We could've had JC and Abarrientos/Bolick alternate as point guard and surrounded the with Baltazar, Tamayo, Heading and Dwight in the perimeter while having a lob threat inside in Kai/AJ or Fajardo if the matchup on defense isn't too bad but instead we got Clarkson surrounded by fucking Pogoy, Kiefer, Malonzo and Scottie with a slot wasted on Japeth

do we even have a player that is pure fundamentals, seems that this has been neglected for a long time in the grassroots level

Dwight Ramos, Dalph Panopio and Robert Bolick before the PBA

out of the 3, only Bolick is homegrown, yikes

Yeah the only homegrown and got his potential ceiling lowered significantly playing in a shitty farm team like Northport who prolly won't even win in Jones Cup.
