Well here is simple math, number of players with major league experience ( US Div 1 starter, NBA and Euro league), like it or not , there is significant correlation with FIBA results and # of players with major league experience.
This is a question for revisiting our structure and pathway for development.
there is this misconception on strength, while we have household name stars, in the bigger picture we lack quality elite major league players compared to others, yes we are less talented.

we need more players that love to defend, pass, shoot, and be versatile in their roles than be scorers or being fancy.
I know people are talking about Japan’s level of locals but in Japan’s starting lineup they have an nba player, baba has nbl and gleague experience and did decently in both leagues, Tominaga wasn’t just a random D1 player, he’s been lighting it up in D1. Hawkinson was a good D1 player as well, I mean there is a difference in talent at least from that starting lineup. I mean Ramos didn’t really have an impact in D1, Malonzo as well didn’t really have much impact on D1, Kai is definitely the second most accomplished player on the team but hasn’t had much impact. Edu had injuries and never really made a massive impact for his team. Clarkson is more talented than anyone from both teams but after him the drop off is big.

If pinoy players really are as trash as you say then why do they retain a system that falls back so much on individual brilliance instead of team effort? Why not go back to Tab's formula of developing weak players instead of overexposing mediocre ones?

Last night, we had a 102.9 DRTG against DR based on a formula I found. DR shot 23-34 from the foul line, and 29-73 from the field. Allowed 17 offensive rebounds, though. Good enough. Hope that number gets lower in the following games. Show that same effort against Angola and Italy.
I’m not saying their trash but saying Japan’s locals are on the same level feels like it’s not looking at the real problem of local development. Probably majority of the Japanese national team pool is probably at the same level or worse than maybe majority of the Gilas pool but the starting lineup of Japan is probably better.
Contrary to common thought it's not actually in game tournament coaching that is the biggest issue, but it really is our lack of player development particularly at the youth level, we're simply not producing players at the rate of others, do note we have yet a homegrown player who's made it as rotation Div 1, NBA or Euro league. That should tell you enough

This doesn’t mean that we would suddenly wish for him to take over, but this is all it takes. A domino effect to burst the existing bubble of the higher-ups to realize this hard truth. I hope that after WC 23, even the hearts of Chua, etc. will open up to this.
If SMC takes over, I really hope that they make the right, logical decision and hire the best person available with competent knowledge of world basketball.
We need to build on the blueprint that Tab has already put forward and create a much better program. Whether we will adapt a more South American approach, a euro ball approach or etc. It needs to maximize the players that we have and we also have to start emulating the development system already in place in Europe. I propose creating 3 teams similar to what Taiwan did.
One thing is for sure: we have to stop the PBA style of basketball where we keep on isolating, shooting poorly, having bad defensive habits, etc. As we can see from the past two games, our offense has been disgustingly stagnant.
To rub salt in the wound, Japan, emphasizing growth, good basketball, and culture (an identity we had under the Tab era), won against Finland, a team that was 7th in the last Eurobasket, placing higher than the likes of Serbia, Italy, Turkey, Lithuania, etc. Compare it to the chaos that SBP and Chot created.
For change to happen, it will need to start from the very top. We have a leadership problem in the SBP. I hope whoever takes over puts Philippine basketball first, not the PBA, UAAP, other business ventures (Panlilio, Chot), etc. We need management solely dedicated to putting out a world-class team.

With Rajko being involved with Philippine basketball again,I hope he gets some say on what system,personell and future coaching staff.
Dream on....if Tab cannot do it, what more Rajko who would would only be acting as a consultant for a so-so college basketball team..........With SMC, Panlileo, Chot, PBA running Philippine basketball, nothing will happen......we need a strong leader who can do a big overhaul of Philippine basketball.
