Yup. Thats being ethnicist and using a slur Metro Manilan’s used to use. This is the reason why many from the South would rather speak English than Tagalog. Then years later they are being accused by the Tagalog speakers of being un-nationalistic when it was the Tagalog speaker’s jeers of their Bisaya accent when speaking Tagalog that made them stop speaking it. As if they could speak Bisaya and without a Tagalog accent.

Also, what ever Pogoy’s basketballprospects after he graduated he exceeded them. His early defense was good. And his skill development from PF to SG was phenomenal. Kiefer is actually a disappointing career. But oh well he apparently needed dust to get the edge. Note that his dad is also a Bisaya. He wouldnt be a phenom without the network and money brought in by his Dad’s career.

I am from Metro Manila but I don't do it because that's not right. I believe the more educated and more level-headed ones here will not say that.

an old ryan reyes in 2016 is a better fit than a current pogoy. i'd even take calvin oftana as a 12th man instead, seeing pogoy won't be a 12th man and will play significant minutes

If this is just Asian level basketball, I won't be complaining this much seeing Pogoy in the final 12-man line up as I'm convinced Pogoy would be serviceable in the Asian level competition. But this is already world stage. We should be sending our best players or the most deserving players.

Here's my take, majority of the fans can take having a Kiefer Ravena in the team despite majority of these fans don't like Kiefer. But having both Kiefer & Pogoy, which most fans don't like as well, in the final 12-man line-up is just too much for the fans to take.

I think having Pogoy on the team won't be a problem as long as he's the 12th man. Problem is, Chot frequently used him in the rotation. And still having a history of inconsistency and getting lost on defense at time shouldn't warrant him being anywhere near the lineup, much less the rotation.

I think we need Newsome’s D more. But there’s like a 20% that Pogoy either does well on D or scores well to justify his slot. By my count he had 1 to 3 games where he did something good. All of them against lesser comp. But oh well.

Pogoy is there to asawa opposing dominican guards do legal handchecks on that guy.. this is a cheap pba move and might back fire big time in intl. comp... that gesture of kiefer of pointing his team mates to get back defense when he made a rare jumper is a no no

It would be funny if it werent sad if Pogoy gets the whistle everytime he does PBA defense on DR just like Barroca. Pogoy is wiley though. He might get away with it just like the infamous RDO and Espino.

Yeah. If both are going to shoot bricks, might as well go with the guy who can actually play defense in FIBA.

And Pogoy for shooting? 25% from 3 is a great percentage, all right. I think that alone should be enough basis to put him at the end of the bench instead of the rotation.

For me i cannot blame chot on his decisions...

Pogoy - tnt representative
Kiefer - always present ..and ravena representatve
Abando - a choice to give fans a chance

Only time will tell if Chot's gamble will all be worth it or not. This is what I keep telling myself after reading the articles about supposedly better players being cut. Oh well.

Let's breakdown the roster:

Gilas has:

Height-wise:

- 4 players standing around 6'9 or taller
- 5 players standing around 6'5 or taller
- 7 players standing around 6'4 or taller
- only one player is under 6'0.

Age-wise:

- 5 players are older than 30 years old
- 4 players are 25 years old or younger

In terms of position:

- 4 players are centers
- 7 players can play guard
- 7 players can play forward

Miscellaneous:

- 6 players are playing in the PBA
- 4 from the Japan B.League
- 1 from the KBL
- 1 from the NBA

Ok Tim loves 8-9 man rotation so ray will just get token minutes if we want to allot malonzo asnd dweet needs burn time to be effective

Guard:
1. JC
2. Dwight
3. Scottie
4. Kief
5. CJ
6. Pogoy

I'm not sure Abando can play guard.

Let's break it down based on Chot's sub patterns in the tuneups. Without the videos I can't be sure what position JC plays. But from his stats (TOs) and Chot's interviews he plays a lot of PG.

Depth chart for PG:
1. JC
2. Scottie
3. Kiefer
4. Dwight
5. CJ

Depth chart for SG
1. Scottie
2. JC
3. Pogoy
4. Dwight
5. CJ

Depth chart for SF:
1.Dwight
2. JC
3. Malonzo
4. Abando

Depth chart for PF:
1. Edu
2. Malonzo
3. Dwight
4. Japeth

But a team insider disclosed to Spin.ph that those to be cut will be strongly considered as part of the roster for the Asian Games.

As it is, naturalized player Justin Brownlee is the only sure member of the Asiad team after stepping aside for Jordan Clarkson in the World Cup lineup.

Justin Brownlee
Ray Parks
Calvin Oftana
Chris Newsome
Thirdy Ravena

This is a decent five already.

Ok Tim loves 8-9 man rotation so ray will just get token minutes if we want to allot malonzo asnd dweet needs burn time to be effective..Thompson will be our pure pg.. the debate if newsome is strategic backup (defensive pg) or a microwave in kiefer ravena(offensive pg) we can also pull in the trio of perez abando and pogoy as shock troopers

Asian games is the crown jewel for asian tournaments IMO

I pick Don Clarkson than Pogdanovic anyday haha
theres plenty Shooting guard ryt now better than that bum sorry for the word. Why on earth Marcio was not included on the pool he was our best performing shooter on SEA Games and best perimeter/wing defender at that

Aside from Don being a better shooter, he also has solid handles unlike the one dribble pull up Pogoy, Don is also a decent defender
