I really don't get the selection. Since he's not a prospect and more like a win-now, veteran in the eyes of Chot, it's no brainer if that's the criteria pala then Marcio Lassiter is head and shoulders the right pick. There was an article when the pool is on the process of being formed that he was just waiting for a call to join (may basbas na since Al Chua is now hands-on more involved in the Gilas program).

Hindi nga makaporma si Mikey dito kay Lassiter, ilang beses na hahahaha.

Are we expecting Roger Unggoy to defend Liz? Solano? Montero? Or even their best Guard in QUI

Pogoy had his notable defensive performance against Senegal’s ace guard in the 4th. The guard was eating Kiefer alive. Pogoy had better height and gave good effort. But against the DR guards both Kiefer and Pogoy will be eaten alive. I actually think CJ is a better matchup here as long as he doesnt throw the ball.

Newsome would be a far better defender. Pogoy's just too slow, and at 6'2", not really an advantage.

hey I’m a big fan of gawad kalinga-habitat’s for hunanity Pogoy, all those bricks are use to build houses for the poor

Actually true. Newsome is a shorter Norwood but with a worse 3 pt shot. I think Newsome is better in non Ramos minutes. Both I think are historically our worst 3 pt shooters.

I would've been OK with Newsome over Pogoy if it's a battle of 2 bad outside shooters. Newsome at least defends better.

Grabe sir galit na galit ka hahahahahhaha:D If I know a hitman I'll just pay him myself just to end this Rogor Pogoy's madness so everybody here will be finally at peace. Anybody down here to do the honors and end Pogoy? I'm just kidding guys! Peace po!!!

Lol then do it yourself! Haha, I’d rather go 11 players just to not have Pogoy. Heck, I’ll even consider their PT Dexter Aseron for the 12th spot instead of Pogoy.

Kiefer for all the bashing and hate was a phenom from his HS days, he was expected to be great. ROGER POGOY WAS A BISAYA WHO WAS EXPECTED TO BE A GARBAGE MAN, YET HERE WE ARE, IT’S ROGER POGOY’S WORLD. AND WE ARE JUST LIVING IN IT!

In Chot’s eyes tho, Pogoy is his Ritualo,

his Jeff Chan

his Gary David

his Fonacier

They will justify his selection because he will sell to the fans that ROGER POGOY IS THE GILAS DEADSHOT 3 POINT SHOOTER MARKSMAN.

Roger Pogoy is still a Bisaya. Do you have anything against Visayans? Junemar is Visayan and so other so many great Pinoy basketball players such as Hontiveros and Mon Fernandez.

I watched some clips of the Mexico scrimmage. I guess unpopular but I don’t mind Kiefer on the team though I hear people don’t want him. I guess he is not good on defense and kind of undersized but I think he provides some offense outside Clarkson and maybe Ramos.

I don’t know if he is great shooter but seems much better than rest of the roster. He probably won’t play much because he was probably playing in the Mexico scrimmage cause Clarkson didn’t play, but off the bench he can be a good ball handler for my opinion and can space the floor a bit.

I would be bitching about him being in the team but Pogoy is there so I’ll redirect my projectile.

Kiefer is still tolerable, but Pogoy? That’s pure favoritism.

an old ryan reyes in 2016 is a better fit than a current pogoy. i'd even take calvin oftana as a 12th man instead, seeing pogoy won't be a 12th man and will play significant minutes

If paying fans saw this video I wonder if they would be asking for a refund or selling their tickets by now.

Kai Sotto with his patented takbong mayaman. His game hasn't really changed, lurking outside as the paint as if he shoots jumpers well and almost always never inside the paint on defense which is why he barely gets any rebounds.

Got free VIP tickets to boo Choke in person. LOL

Di din talaga nagiisip!haha sinagot mulang din ang mga puna mu kay KAI!haha Kai was instructed to camp outside so that the smaller ones could penetrate.hahaha REBOUND PA MORE!hahaha Here are some of the combination based on the videos during the Mexico game.

iskati newsome pogoy dwight kai

eto mas malala iskati kiefer pogoy dwight kai

These combos were also constantly running!haha Pahiya ang mga rebounders!haha

Chot doesn't know how to play tall. We could really take that Italy game if we play tall and let JC serves as a decoy.

Skati, JC, Dwit/Malonzo, AJ/Jap, Kai

I think our defense would suffer if we pair JMF and Kai unless Kai plays as a PF like what Tab was doing when Kai plays with Kouame. I still think that the AJ-Kai tandem would be our best defensive bigs unless the strength disparity is too big.

I'm late to the party but WTH Chot. I'm not even mad anymore at Pogoy at least he gives his best effort. Chot is the problem. He never gave the other players a chance because Pogoy is going to be in the final lineup no matter what. Heck he probably made him the last pick because he knew how people would react

On other news it's great seeing familiar posters back again. You know it's going to be a lively time here the next few weeks again

Lols.... They don't want to be embarrassed, That's why they tell that idea... But this one will not happen since NBA finds this FIBA WC as their global expansion market for their own right... It will not happen bro!!!!!

Have you forgotten the last time the USA team in the WC,they finished at 7th place,so what did they do for this year's WC,did they send their best players,of course not.As we all know Americans are seasonal fans, since its not basketball season to them until March,in talk radio so far they talked about WC because of KAT and the DR,and USA team for 8 minutes out of 3 hours of sports radio, the drama between Harden and his former close friend GM is much more exciting, they said that garnered a good 15 mins, the rest majority of the talk was Shohei Otani,a pitcher who can hit,not since the young Babe Ruth who pitched and power hit at the same time.I really believed that the next WC they will send more younger unknown guys if not Gleague and College kids. Its the Olympics that's more important to them, they liked that drama, just like their favorite sports baseball and American football.

If this is just Asian level basketball, I won't be complaining this much seeing Pogoy in the final 12-man line up as I'm convinced Pogoy would be serviceable in the Asian level competition. But this is already world stage. We should be sending our best players or the most deserving players.

Here's my take, majority of the fans can take having a Kiefer Ravena in the team despite majority of these fans don't like Kiefer. But having both Kiefer & Pogoy, which most fans don't like as well, in the final 12-man line-up is just too much for the fans to take.

I don't like Pogoy but saying Bisaya like it is a bad thing is not right. We can hate the man but not the Visayans. Mind you, many people that gave big contributions in the Philippine basketball are Visayans - June Mar, Dondon Hontiveros, Ramon Fernandez, Elmer Cabahug. Even Jeff Codera is a Visayan.

Think before you click.

Yup. Thats being ethnicist and using a slur Metro Manilan’s used to use. This is the reason why many from the South would rather speak English than Tagalog. Then years later they are being accused by the Tagalog speakers of being un-nationalistic when it was the Tagalog speaker’s jeers of their Bisaya accent when speaking Tagalog that made them stop speaking it. As if they could speak Bisaya and without a Tagalog accent.

Also, what ever Pogoy’s basketballprospects after he graduated he exceeded them. His early defense was good. And his skill development from PF to SG was phenomenal. Kiefer is actually a disappointing career. But oh well he apparently needed dust to get the edge. Note that his dad is also a Bisaya. He wouldnt be a phenom without the network and money brought in by his Dad’s career.
