Perhaps not too many people realize that in last year's FIBA Asia Cup, Rayray Parks is Gilas' top scorer with a 13-pt. per game average. Well, we can also attribute that to the fact that Gilas missed a No. of marque players in that tournament - Kai, Dwight Ramos, Junmar, CJ Perez, Iskati Thompson, & of course a naturalized player. But I think one can't deny the fact that Parks is capable to stepping up & be more assertive in offense if necessity calls for it.

I was actually contemplating of a Clarkson-Dwight Ramos-Parks solid rotation at the wings in which these 3 wingmen get the lion share of playing time in the 2 & 3 spots while the rest of the wingmen (CJ Perez, Abando, Newsome, Pogoy or Thirdy) will just get token playing time. But with Parks not being fielded by coach Chot in the last 3 friendly games of Gilas, I am now preparing myself of the big possibility that Parks won't make it to the World Cup roster.

whatever it is, bus, facilities, etc.. those are definitely approved by FIBA.. so let's not dwell on it..

For me, so far I don't see any problem.. would these folks expect lavishness from a third world country?

For as long as the transportation facilities are clean cool and comfortable that is enough..

the more important aspect is how MOA, Araneta and Philippine Arena will hold up for these national teams.. and from the looks of it, Araneta has some MAJOR renovations done, while Philippine Arena and MOA Arena are already world class on its own..

Stop promoting mediocrity. This country is not ready to host any big sporting event like this and it shows. That "pwede na yan" mentality is the reason why we're still stuck being a 3rd world.

is the final lineup out? might as well jump on the who's your final 12 before it does. but ill just say who the 4 non-inclusions instead. this is based on what i think CCR will do, not want I want.

lineup is everyone except these 4:

Thirdy
Newsome
Parks
Abando\Oftana

the last spot is between Abando and Oftana. im leaning it goes to Oftana but CCR might just pick Abando as a wink wink to the fans.

is Abando the new Abueva (masa darling)? in a perfect world both oftana and abando gets in and keifer gets cut, but Keifer's spot is secured since THERE ARE ONLY TWO PGS in the pool. Makes you think if this was intentional

and to think, Abando sat on the bench before and all that meme "ako yun hindi mo pinansin dati" started to pop out. hahaha

My point was, we can develop LBJ types so we don't always have to rely on the 1.

I'm just expressing my frustration at the development system we have, and how playmaking is almost exclusively from the 1.

To a lesser extent with the dribble hand offs Tab's 2021 Gilas allows all 5 players to initiate the offense. With the screen, the dribbler has some space to either drive, shoot or pass. I haven't watched a deconstruction of Nenad's system but from the posts I read it seems to me Nenad's system was a bit more advanced but with the same concept of allowing all 5 player to initiate the offense.

IRC Tab was considering Nenad to be the WC2023 head coach. And from his team's NP-less performance against a good Korean selection it would have been a good decision. Geo Chiu became serviceable in those games. They were shellschocked by NZ. But of course having Geo Chiu as your sole center will do that to you.

not really promoting mediocrity.. what do you really need in a bus? what I said was clean, cool (meaning malamig) and comfortable.. what are we looking for? lazyboy reclining seats? TV with PS5? I mean tell me what is wrong with the transportation of our teams? besides "looking 1990ish".. anyways, this is not what really matters.. let's just hope GIlas can pull it off and everyone gets a really good experience while being here..

True… And I didn’t hear any complaints yet… 30 times much better than Cambodia’s mini bus that gilas used last seagames…. Teams participating here is not going there just for fun or visit… I like also the Filipino hospitality treating the visitors like a “royalty”….

I will watch the game live between Philippines and China possible classification game… I don’t know where or when… that could be the biggest game of PHL in the whole tournament…. I hope it will be on September 2 (Saturday)….

August 31 or September 2

honestly, we are in the best position to "shock" the competition so to speak.. unlike Japan and China (and probably the rest of Asia), we had the most lowkey preparation.. and when I say lowkey, we really didn't go up against world cup bound teams during the preparation that is shown publicly on TV or streaming.. yes we participated in that tournament in China with Senegal and Iran Team B.. but even in that tourney, we didn't have scottie thompson, JC and Kai.. as in no one knows how we play.. that can go both ways, can a disaster (hopefully not) and a blessing..

Hopefully coach chot and coach tim has really worked hard for the team despite the cramming we have.. because I really do feel, if we play our cards right, we can shock our group (well minus Italy who has been tearing everyone apart - unless they peak too soon)..

Oh sana sana sa kaluwalhatian haha

i don't expect too much on our chances on this tourney, i think we finish this tournament winless just like last edition sad.

We need a couple of volunteers to tire out KAT the night before the game. Bonus: KAT babies.

Better yet, they should entertain the South Sudan players assuming they can survive the size. LOL

The problem will be everyone knows JC… it is easy to find his plays on YouTube… same as Kai sotto that plays last month’s summer league… let’s see if they will pull more surprises here….

It's all about our shooting.. we really do not have enough shooting.. so I hope that will be fixed because if we have a good shooting day, a good chance to win..

bad thing that jordan heading and ray parks are out.. those 2 can really give us a lift with our shooting.. roger pogoy is a streak shooter.. if it is his day IT IS HIS DAY.. hoping his day would come with dominican republic and angola..

Those Sudanese is freakishly lenghty overall dunno how our men gilas/ perlas women can handle those... Lol
Dunno about KAT tho he is questionable? maybe the masculados will do the side quest haha

South Sudan is home to the Dinka tribe (remember the movie The Air Up There). Most of their players look Dinka.

Maybe send some pinoy gigolos to that tribe. Moms are a bigger factor in a child's height.
