The results are quite good. Remember, the uaap/ncaa and pba never played good basic basketball for a long time. I came from a time when the best pinoy guard (gasp!) was 5'5 abarrientos and 6 flat samson was considered a decent nt center.
Things do change for the better. I like the way ateneo, up and la salle use big, talented and athletic students. That is the only way to go. For sure, the forwards and guards playing with kai and aj will be seriously better, stronger and bigger the next time around.
Only a local fool cannot see that the now taller and quicker pinoys are getting harder to beat every decade, even by top flight teams. And it is no secret that the current gilas sfs and big guards are not yet the kind of perimeter beasts we want to see. For one big thing though, those big pfcs of china, sokor, iran and arabian lands -- that made a laughingstock of our nt "bigs" -- are as good as neutralized already.
Still, chot is too self-promoting and too noisy to be a good coach. The pba still is just entertaining local weird fanatics' desires, and plays the kind of irritating smallball that will never succeed in fiba games. And the pba is still an smc inter-color league with controlled opposition.
I did notice that incoming draftees are bigger and more athletic players every year. The nt pool will certainly improve quite fast. We will like the nts 5-7 years down the road. As i said, the guys who were sending 5'5-5'7 guys in my time were happy, not horrified, about sending very small teams in international games.
