Australia's Final 12:

C Duop Reath - 6'11 (27)
F/C Nick Kay - 6'9 (31)
F Xavier Cooks - 6'8 (28)
F/G Joe Ingles - 6'8 (35)
G Josh Giddey - 6'8 (20)
F Jack White - 6'7 (26)
G/F Josh Green - 6'7 (22)
G Dyson Daniels - 6'7 (20)
G/F Mathysse Thybulle - 6'5 (26)
G Dante Exum - 6'5 (28)
G Chris Goulding - 6'4 (34)
G Patty Mills - 6'0 (35)

I don't think that this team is small. The team is pretty lengthy, versatile and athletic.

Spain Beats DR 86-77. DR hanging on for full 3 quarters and that is despite Karl towns not playing heavy minutes.

Not sure I think Towns got 2 technicals and got thrown out. DR has a different confidence with Towns there.

I dont know NIck Kay or Cooks. But the others looks like small forward or guards to me. This looks more like a positionless type of team than one with clear strengths.

86-77 despite KAT playing just 18mins for DR. Looks like Robert's prediction for DR is correct. They are better than Italy.

The game finished up early for Karl-Anthony Towns who ejected with 2 technical fouls.
He stepped on the floor vs. Spain for 18 minutes showed his arsenal.

Small compared to previous AU Teams with Bogut, Baynes, Andersen, Anstey, Maker etc.

IMO, Brazil and the Dominican Republic are the strongest contigents from the Latin Americas for this coming World Cup, based on their prep results.

Games today:

France Australia 12NN
Italy Brazil 3PM
China Serbia 730PM
Gilas Montenegro 8PM
USA Germany 12MN

Let's see how Italy fares against Brazil.

At this point I think it's safe to say all efforts must be concentrated on China and South Sudan. LOL

Our style and player composition should have made us the Latinos of Asia. Their players are like ours but on steroids.

It's sad that even after our bad defeat against DR in 20202, nobody has realized we should emulate them more.

KAT with DR is like Blatche with us, only he is way better than Blatche.

italy is a top 8 favorite dr isnt..

They are only basing on rankings in fiba.. not on paper… serbia on ranking always a medal threat… but not in this edition due to absence of their stars… same as Lithuania… but I think even Montenegro has a shot beating sabonis less Lithuania this time… Italy’s preparation results look great, but they beat undermanned teams (Greece and Serbia), not in the event (Turkey) or not a threat in WC (China and Puerto Rico)… but after we saw how impactful KAT in DR, they might have a decent shot a top 8… the groups A and B combined are the weakest in this event…

Especially China… the china game is the biggest game for gilas in their quest for Olympic stint next year… actually I like gilas chances vs China… they have now the size to match up vs the likes of zhou qi and wang zhelin, plus china still struggling to create chemistry w/ Kyle Anderson… signs that the light is turning on to gilas…

No Wang Zhelin for China

Our advantage vs China is we already set chemistry w/ JC since he already played w/ gilas last year.. he’s already familiar with fiba rules while Anderson struggling to get chemistry w/ his Chinese teammates, plus he’s not yet familiar w/ fiba rules… coach djorkevic opting to put Anderson in off the bench role even that it’s obvious that Anderson is the best player for China for not distracting the chemistry they created since they started their training camp since late June… but gilas should not take this for granted… China is still China in Asian basketball…

Younger guys. Forgot the names.

Aside from zhou… junmar can bully those young bigs… and I still think djorkevic mistakenly not included guo ailun in their line up… he plays too much dribbling but he has basketball IQ… for sure he can adopt the system of djorkevic…their best PG in their line up (Zhao Rui) is not as talented as guo….

Horrible outside shooting for Australia so far. 3 of 17 from downtown, all misses from Mills and Giddey.

Assuming we lose to China and South Sudan, how can we become part of the OQT next year?

In other news, Australia looking much weaker than what we thought. They won't make it past the quarters if they play like this.

As I suspected, having few real bigs would negatively affect Oz. Nobody is a real threat there except Mills. And IMO having big bodies to screen for you and potentially get offensive boards like Landale and Baynes makes a big difference. It seems the Mills era is ending. It is still unclear where goes after.
