people are sleeping on this team USA but i like the composition of this version, a lot of 2 way players and specialist though they should have add atleast 1 over 30 player to serve as the veteran leader that can calm down the team, when the going gets tough

Weak link is 3pt shooting and its showing.

I like this team better than the last USA team with Kemba Walker. Lots of energy and scrappy players on this team. Solid role players minus pure shooters.

they are having a hard time with the press and zone, and sometimes overthinks with what to do with the ball, what i like about the US is the half court defense is really hard to crack, the best shooters of the team are Reaves and Johnson

So looking at the boxscores, we made a big run with Abando and Perez playing while JC was benched.

Good to see Kai playing 21mins. At least on paper his stamina has improved.

Parks not playing at this stage is worrying. There shouldn't be experimenting anymore. Newsome and Pogoy shouldn't be there.

His flirting w/ vlogger girl did hurt the team than helpful... More distractions... He should focus first on Gilas before doing off court reletionships....

I’m biased but Duncan Robinson would have been a good addition. He doesn’t do anything special besides shoot. Doesn’t hurt to have someone like that for certain stretches of the game.

What happened to Lebanon? From a team who almost beat Australia B last year's FIBA Asia cup, To a team that it's qualification to the World cup is not deserving at all... They losing left and right in all tune up games... Even they lose to a mid low tier Bahrain in a tune up game couple of days ago... Is there any problem to Lebanon team right now? They might even not beating Iran or Ivory Coast in classification stages!!!! Now they lose to Mexico (70-88) in Abu Dhabi showcase that couple of days ago Jordan beat them convincingly? They should bring back Aldreage rather than taking overwieght Spellman... Spellman scamming Lebanese basketball and their fans... They not deserve to have that undiscipline over weight guy (Spellman)...

That is why no one in the USA is watching or anticipating this WC,sending probably a very beatable team and still will win in large margins is just not fun to watch.Since majority of NBA players opted not to play including alot from other countries,its maybe time for Team USA to just send Gleague players and College standouts,so that other teams will feel good and have swagger in beating Team USA,that is until the Olympics where Team USA will have the biggest guns on their roster and turned the storyline to the revenge and respect and justify beating and humiliating the teams that beat them.

Well things are not going well.
1) Bad Federation --> a lot of "small" issues
2) Bad preparations --> our players are not ready (physically and mentally)
3) Some players are recovering from an injury (Wael and Mansour)
4) Yoyo (Michigan University) and Chamoun (starter last year) are out due to an injury.
5) Amir Saoud has an injury too and we are waiting the final decision to know if he is gonna play or not.
6) Spellman is clearly overweight and today he didnt play due to a minor injury (IDK if it was a good choice to pick him knowing that we're lacking a big guy).

So yeah we are going with 0 expectation but the desire to beat Iran and CIV to reach our target.

Oh yeah concerning today's game against Mexico the Syrian ref (always him coz it's not the first time) gave us 7 TF !!!!!!! Arakji was ejected for a double TF (played 20 min).

Canada do not have the bench to outplay or outscore USA's bench, im watching now the game between Canada and Dominican Rep, main guys were not played in the 2nd half and Canada's bench is being beaten by Dominican

The Lebanon team that played in last year's FIBA Asia Cup is for me the strongest Lebanese national team I saw, composition wise. Even stronger than the Fadi El Khatib-era Lebanon team in the 2000's in terms of roster. While the Fadi El Khatib-era team had a more solid starting 5, this current Lebanon team is significantly deeper & plays better as a team. During the 2000's era Lebanon team, the team relied so much on Fadi especially on offense that it loooked like it was always a Fadi El Khatib show with his other teammates just looking around. The current Lebanese team plays with better teamwork. Current team also plays on a faster phase & its plays are much less predictable.

I hope this convincing win over Ivory Coast gives psychological boost to our team. Although the final score isn't really indicative of how close the game was in the first 3 quarters & Ivory Coast players probably hit by jetlag, still beating an African team that is qualified in the World Cup by 20+ pts is no mean feat.

They came from Beirut so it wasnt that bad but power rankings do have the Ivory Coast last.
