Crucial for Gilas is on how fast Clarkson & Kai Sotto assimilate with the rest of the team as they are the late additions to the team. While these 2 players have already played & trained/practiced with the team before, I don't think it was enough to reach the right degree of cohesion/chemistry especially if we are preparing for a high level competition like the World Cup. Kai & Clarkson have to reintegrate themselves into the team. In short, Clarkson & Kai needs the reps playing/scrimmaging/training with the team & that thing takes time. How I wish Gilas still have 2 more weeks of training but it is what it is.

I say, this last few days prior to the opening of the World Cup is crucial for the team. My hope is, nobody in the team gets injured.

Actually, Scottie, Clarkson and Kai. Scottie has been away from the team for more than a month IRC. This is a bit of a gamble for Chot. But if he is really serious about putting JC at PG then we can have JC, CJ, Dwight, Edu and Kai as starters.

I'm OK if the team lose, As long all players are healthy.... 1 week until the event, everybody should be healthy and protect our main players... Give that tune up games for those who are in hunt for final 12 line up, As well for chemistry between Gilas and Kai & JC... Give less playing time to Edu and Ramos... both are crucial players come next week...

btw there’s a 50% discount for tickets on selected games for teachers and students, planing to watch some of the games

That is one of the reasons Kiefer is not needed in final 12 since JC might do the PG chores... JC will play almost 35 mins every game... What will be use of Kiefer, especially Scottie is already healthy.... Sorry Kief!! I like his dedication for national team... But still not enough to be included in final roster (But because Chot loves him, He might get the spot)....

We have five years to prepare our young but very promising youth dribblers like Kai, Cortez, Ricci rivero et Al, so I hope MVP change his mind, assign coach tab and altamirano to focus and speedup their development and become serviceable in 2023

Absolutely,
Nurturing talents like Kai, Cortez, Ricci Rivero, and more is pivotal. Assigning Coach Tab and Altamirano to oversee their growth could be a game-changer. With five years to mold them, focusing on skill enhancement and speed will make them valuable assets by 2023.youtubevanced

All of that is good, until a Filipino is the one who's going to the other side then the fans turned their backs on them, like the Filipina fencer, the grandmaster and not too long ago Jaja Santiago, marrying a Japanese and will play someday for Japan, suddenly no one wants to talk about her anymore like she doesn't exist.Imagine if Kai made it in the NBA and offered a to be a NP for another country lol.

But what i know, They still need granted special release from federation before leaving? Right? Gordon granted release from USAB before joining Bahamas... So still not easy... But overall, transfer rule is exist in all of sports and better to implement, since the competition still not balance...

My final 12-man roster:

1. Kai Sotto
2. AJ Edu
3. Junmar Fajardo (He justified himself with that good performances in that stints in Europe & China)
4. Japeth Aguilar
5. Jamie Malonzo
6. Dwight Ramos
7. Jordan Clarkson
8. Rayray Parks
9. Rhenz Abando
10. Chris Newsome (I'm impressed with his defense)
11. Iskati Thompson
12. CJ Perez

I see the Gilas pool as loaded at the center spot but so thin at the 4 spot, though it is a consensus that Edu & Japeth can play the 4 spot. If only Carl Tamayo or Justin Baltazar is part of the pool, I'll pick any of them over a Japeth. I prefer Newsome over Oftana as I think Oftana is a bit out of shape, but it is a tough choice.

I agree with this lineup. Abando will be rarely played here. But he can be a spot up shooter in end of quarter situations. I also like Newsome as a guard defender, he is too short against wings. But I'm thinking now if Scottie is healthy enough maybe he can be the guard defender. Worst case is Chot puts him Newsome at 3. The only problem with Newsome is his 3 pt shooting is really bad. I think he is more gun shy than Fiba Gabe. In fact he is the opposite of Gabe. Gabe shoots more in Fiba. You can see there is nothing wrong with his mechanics just his willingness to shoot. On the other hand Newsome, is not gun shy in the PBA. But there is a problem in his mechanics that makes him an inefficient 3 pt shooter. The effect is he doesn't like shooting in Fiba. Which is bad because as a guard the 3 pt shot is the usual open shot he will he get there.

that is how sadik analyze things he only looks at one side without considering the effect if our very own do the same, what he failed to realize is fiba letting Gordon play for Bahamas is like those exemptions fiba were giving to other countries meaning its not definite rule but by special circumstances that is why it is being called exemptions

That is existing everywhere... Did you not happy that former Canadian swimmer will represent Philippines in upcoming Asian Games? How about one footballer from Australia who represent Filipinas last FIFA WC? All sports discipline having transfer rules... Only basketball still hasn't before this Gordon scenario... It's on the federation how they treat their athletes fair and happy to be his situation... Blame on federation if they didn't treat his/her athletes the proper way... It's time that FIBA has transfer rules, since the competition still not balanced... w/ this, some athletes that no chance to play for his first preferred nation can play for his second country that he/she wants to play for....

Kai must not be in good condition to play only 40 seconds. But let's see in the 2nd half.

He played in 2nd qtr... scored 4 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast, 1 blk in 8 mins... Maybe Chot wants to preserve his fitness come WC... one injury in these tune up games will kill our chances....

Clarkson play whole 1st half... It seems we will see JC will play almost all of 35 - 38 mins come FIBA WC... 13 pts, 3 rebs, 1 ast, 1 stl

With JC arrives, Perez' role reduce... As he was still DNP as of the moment

should we worry that JC is playing heavy mins in this scrimmage?

I think it's not... He's NBA player afterall... Although let's pray that he will get any injuries in these tune up games....
