Watched the highlight of Japan vs France. Japan plays five-out and will live and die with the three-ball. Interesting once Rui joins, he has excellent 3pt%.

It will be a dream only since many Japanese fans disappointed at him… he didn’t do an effort to join their national team… in terms of budget, japan has more budget than gilas… they can pay Rui’s insurance easily… but Rui doesn’t care about playing for Japan… both JC and Rui came from fresh contract signing but JC do an effort to join Gilas while Rui do nothing… of course we don’t know the real situation of non participation of hachimura but this could be beneficial to him, to level up his confidence going to upcoming nba season…

Damn, South Sudan played their 16 year old 7-footer Malwach. On a coast-to-coast he posterized 2 Aussies at the same time.

Australia should of played their just turned 17 yo 7'3'' kid (Rocco) to make it more fair.
I see he is playing NBL this season and last week destroyed a D1 US college touring team with the Brisbane Bullets.

That didn't work with Korea before. Now they have the smallest PG rotation.

France wasnt guarding the perimeter. Giving too much importance to practice games should not be a habit.

It’s better to have like rules like this… all sport federations have transfer rules to the athletes who want to change their nationality to participate for… In FIFA it is already exist… the Filipinas team have player who came from Australia and play already to the national team of Australia before she change to Philippines, in volleyball, One santiago sister will change nationality from Philippines to Japan.. also in swimming, former Canadian swimmer change his country to the Philippines and will play for us in upcoming Asian games… FIBA should allow transfer rules, so that the competition will be more balance in that way most of players who want to play for his/her parent’s birthplace… it is also make international games more exciting (just like NBA’s version of trading players)… imagine Paolo Banchero wants to play for Italy in the future… or Austin reaves will want to play for Germany.. or the nearest will be Thon Maker will want to play for South Sudan…

All of that is good, until a Filipino is the one who's going to the other side then the fans turned their backs on them, like the Filipina fencer, the grandmaster and not too long ago Jaja Santiago, marrying a Japanese and will play someday for Japan, suddenly no one wants to talk about her anymore like she doesn't exist.Imagine if Kai made it in the NBA and offered a to be a NP for another country lol.

that is how sadik analyze things he only looks at one side without considering the effect if our very own do the same, what he failed to realize is fiba letting Gordon play for Bahamas is like those exemptions fiba were giving to other countries meaning its not definite rule but by special circumstances that is why it is being called exemptions

plus its not like we were not given concessions/exemptions by FIBA before, Lassiter, Lutz, Slaughter, Newsome and Ahamninsi were all given exemptions.

What a quality game between Spain and Canada. Canada really proving they can hang with the top favorites this World cup..

My final 12-man roster:

1. Kai Sotto
2. AJ Edu
3. Junmar Fajardo (He justified himself with that good performances in that stints in Europe & China)
4. Japeth Aguilar
5. Jamie Malonzo
6. Dwight Ramos
7. Jordan Clarkson
8. Rayray Parks
9. Rhenz Abando
10. Chris Newsome (I'm impressed with his defense)
11. Iskati Thompson
12. CJ Perez

I see the Gilas pool as loaded at the center spot but so thin at the 4 spot, though it is a consensus that Edu & Japeth can play the 4 spot. If only Carl Tamayo or Justin Baltazar is part of the pool, I'll pick any of them over a Japeth. I prefer Newsome over Oftana as I think Oftana is a bit out of shape, but it is a tough choice.

For me it will boil down to the different sets of 7 rotation players who will go up against all our opponents.

Group of 7 vs Italy
Group of 7 vs DR
Group of 7 vs Angola
Group of 7 vs China
Group of 7 vs SSD

The thing with teams relying on outside shooting is....Shooting is all about confidence and repetition (that's why form/stroke is important). Can your shooters maintain their poise when the game gets tighter, the defenders are longer/better and the stakes are higher.

It works for the GS Warriors because their shooters have insane confidence and will never go gun-shy. For teams like Japan, their players like the Japanese Curry will have to prove that they can handle that type of pressure. That's what most people don't realize when they see a player chuck logo shots. Most people will think it's a bad shot, which it typically is. But it tells you more...it says that the coach has given that player the ultimate green light and that the player has supreme confidence and an "eff what you think" attitude which is crucial for shooters.

Junemar was always capable internationally.

SMC Junemar though simply… sucks.

From the PBA point of view, this is not a good representation that the best players come from the PBA. There are only 6 players from the PBA (not majority). Not even one player from TNT. I wonder if they would insist on putting in Pogoy and/or Oftana.

SBP and PBA need to be used to it. Mainstays of other national teams are playing overseas as well.

Oftana is acceptable. But Pogoy? GOD help us!!!!!! I like Oftana actually, its just that I feel he's a bit out of shape & I'm impressed with Newsome's defense (whom I believed is Gilas best wing defender).

Worst case scenario with regards to the composition of the final 12 would be, Pogoy & Thirdy or Kiefer making the team.

Problem is, our beloved PBA & SBP don't think the way pro leagues & basketball federations of other countries do (not even close). Other countries compose their national teams with the motivation of forming the strongest teams possible. SBP & the PBA have other things to consider aside from that.

They may sacrifice Abando for a Pogoy or Oftana.
