arguing with sadik is like arguing to a wall the guy is a walking nonsense, like i said in pex he was like this so everyone there even his co tnt fans do not like him, that is why he came here, me i am just waiting for the actual tournament and see how its plays out, this guy likes to hype but always being proven wrong, in pex he hype dickel to the point of sucking his dick and balls but who was able to bring tnt a championship it was Chot and later on Jolas

Who are you prentending? Are you having problem on that guy or are you taking about me? What is your point having angry with that guy (or me as you want to pretend with)? What do you want to prove?

Did the Gilas vs Ivory Coast tuneup push through? I know it’s closed door but usually there are news tidbits from twitter.

Its on friday sir, hopefully some come by ultra (since capitol commons is just across the street) and see if they can accomodate walkovers (which is very hard nowadays as some use it for their own vlogs)

But KAT has shooting range… he’s the best shooting big man in nba today and he will put Junmar on clinic by just shooting over him… KAT is 7 feet while JMF is 6’10, he can shoot over him anytime… and Junmar’s Waterloo is defending perimeter… that’s bad idea TBH….

good point. i was just thinking more along these lines:

it's a 4-year old video but KAT is still soft like that :D. prolly the softest player in the DR team. maybe rough him up a bit belga-style, although junmar is not a dirty player

Thanks bro. No harm in trying but they made it closed door for a reason. You might need to bribe someone. Lol

And another thing, the 12 team Olympic basketball event is not applicable right now… it limits the excitement of international basketball… maybe some people says it is ok since it will be best of the best will compete… but it is true? In 2021 Olympics, many national teams didn’t qualify despite that they are strong team due to fewer teams can participate… no Serbia, no Greece, no Canada, no Lithuania, etc… and teams like Germany, Czech Republic and Italy qualifies that we didn’t expect to be there.. FIBA wants the event to be atleast 16 teams but IOC rejects it because it will unfair for other sports event not being on spotlight… maybe before 12 teams is applicable since only 12-15 teams are competitive before… but not in this era that even Bahamas is also a threat to international basketball event…
And it’s not a grind like the World Cup in football. I’m not saying USA wouldn’t still win their golds regardless of a change, but if consistent threats like Serbia, Canada, and Greece make it consistently they could’ve made a difference in tiring out those2016-2020 USA teams.

they literally faced easy completion like Nigeria and UK lol in the group stage. Also the thing about the WC compared to the Olympics is WC at least in football is a month grind. You think about Brazil or Germany should win every tournament but they don’t and yes talent is more spread out, but the fatigue and grind of the tournament probably plays a part.

that’s why if FIBA gets Olympics to be under-23, they should extend the WC to at least 3-4 weeks to make the tournament a hard grind as well.

It’s possible since the tournament are 32 teams… but the current format is already ok (maybe no more classification matches) maybe 3 week event is enough…

Well, KAT is a legit NBA player… the opponents he will face next week are NBA scrubs or just a local legends in their respective countries… Patty Mills become steph curry in FIBA rules, same as Schroeder… Kelly Olynk became Pau Gasol in FIBA setting, Haddadi became Shaq, etc… these are level of talents that we have to realize that Making it to the NBA is already hard to achieve… once you reach the NBA, you almost already better than most of basketball hoopers worldwide…

I’m being afraid that SBP might play politics here and include almost all of PBA players, just to say they are still the cream of the crop in basketball landscape in the Philippines… I think that SBP will let sure of having their representatives from MVP teams (Newsome and one of Oftana or Pogoy) and biggest thing will be including one of ravena bros in the final line up… don’t be surprise if abando and parks will be cut because they are not pba players… I still remember the 2016 OQT that they pick Reyes over Abueva in final roster… and in 2019 where Coach Yeng Guiao pick Kiefer despite that he was out of shape for 18 months due to suspension… SBP are notorious for that…

To be fair, Brazil has been beating European teams for the past 10 years while most of their loses Europeans are either tightly-contested games or within the striking distance. I am talking about the official games (Olympics, World Cup and OQT). From the Latin American side, it is Brazil and Argentina that are always competitive at the world stage.

Spot on, when assessing how teams will do in the world cup, you put greater weight on previous World cup performance, and put a lot less weight in tune up games ( which Robert is doing ), they are called tune up games for a reason. (Different rotations compared to WC are used , to help preperation), Regardless of how poorly Nz does in tune up games , experts see how they consistently beat stronger European teams in the World cup. SAME with Asian teams Regardless of how promising they play in tune up games (China has been preparing for 2 months now), in the World cup they are generally win less vs America's and European teams, really nothing new . No need to over react to these tune up games like Robert

It's also about talent levels, while NZ frontline (Wetzell, Fotu, Delaney) are unknowns, they have intensive Euro league experience in top teams (Spain etc), this is not the same , as having Asian league experience

Having said all that , NZ admittedly is not a serious final 8 contender, they are 2nd round top 16 contenders. So is China and potentially Gilas (however this will be overarching).
Jordan is NOT a serious 2nd round contender.

Now that's a fair and accurate assessment

Well, tune-up and exhibition games serve as the preview of what teams will look like in an actually tournament. That was the reason I made a comment about hefty and tall the Australians are and how short Mexicans are. Aside from that, teams during tune-up and exhibition games are testing the combination of players as well as their offensive and defensive schemes. For some teams, the results of their tune-up and exhibition games can boost or down their morale. That's why it is called TUNE-UP because teams are fine tuning everything that needs to be fine tuned or fixed in preparation for the actual tournament.

What matters more are the results of the actual tournament. That's why the win of the US over Australia in their Olympic semifinals match will weigh more than the win of Australia over the US in their exhibition game.

it's inaccurate to say Gilas has as good a chance to beat either higher ranked Italy or DR (to make 2nd round) as New Zealand has to beat Giannis less Greece ( 2019 WC with Giannis vs NZL was competitive

NZ winning vs Jordan and Greece isn't a massive suprise at all , very plausible. (To make 2nd round)

Not also sure if China despite upgrade can win 2 games vs Sudan, PR or Serbia (to make 2nd round)

Now havig said all that , I do admit the gap of China and Japan , and yes a Clarkson Gilas has certainly shorten the gap wiith a Webster bros less NZ .

WC debutants Izayah and Cemeon have to step up for Webster bros absence

You also have to watch at how the tune up games were actually played and envision with using proper WC rotation (not experimental combinations) what is a realistic forecast of how a team will perform in the WC.

In the case of NZ games vs Canada and China, they absolutely won 3 quarters vs China , and were even with Canada for 2 quarters. And without starting PG Ili. (TO was the issue), so you can certainly envisioned that with Ili around with less TO, that they can realistically play better in the actual WC.

Everyone knows I'm a Gilas and Tall Black supporter .
Ive done public interviews on both of them.
https://fb.watch/mtduIHw7Aa/?mibextid=ZbWKwL
As I mentioned in interviews this is what I'm hoping for

Gilas, qualify for Olympics with wins vs Angola and China

TALL BLACKS- make 2nd round (round of 16) with wins over Jordan and Greece

I really believe both are all realistically possible , yes minor upsets but still reasonably realistic . Let's enjoy the ride

New Zealand have been looking garbage in their preperation games so far. So yes, at least beating even this Greek roster would be a massive surprise.

NZL 2nd unit (who will hardly get any minutes ) is indeed looking like garbage in tune up games , Nzl has been experimenting using them.

But the core players expected to get minutes in actual WC have actually been playing well and respectable in tune up games , in fact have outscored China significantly when they are in the court and have played even comeptively vs Canada

Of course I don't expect the average fan unfamiliar with NZ roster and how they use rotation in tune up games to know this .

Do note Fotu and Ili our 2 vets have hardly played at all I the tune up games.
there inclusion and heavy extended minutes of core Wetzell, Delaney, Cameron , Te Rangi, Izayah, changes the rotation completely.

What was the reason again why Gilas Pilipinas failed to get some above – average prep and tune up games?
We cannot even get one from any of them - Canada, Spain, France, and Brazil who’ll be playing their group match in Indonesia – They won’t even swing by here in The Philippines to play us some tune up games???

Prep Games Tracker FIBA Basketball World Cup
Gilas Pilipinas will have at max - about 7 games?!?!?
*It seems FIBA didn’t count them last month Gilas B-Level European Field Trip / Camp

While other Top Asian Teams like Co-Host Japan and China have at least 9 – 10 tune up games
Then Jordan National Basketball Team might have the best “Prep Games” having 13 games against FIBA quality teams – Lithuania, Czech, Georgia and SSD

*Gilas Group Opponents
ITALY IS ITALY as Coach Chot said – they UNBEATEN in all their Prep Games… UNBEATEN!
Dominican Republic – they starting late and short? But if its against CANADA and SPAIN – its still better than what Gilas Tune up had, I guess.
Angola – They have about fewer couple games against ours – but they all against “speed teams” like Gilas - but hopefully will get them this time - 2019 FIBAWC payback.

If we one game in the group stage and the rest of the Asian teams fail to win a game does that assure us of the highest rank Asian team and an Olympic ticket?

OT : I accidentally clicked the first page of this thread. I read the first post was "Good job SBP," my first thought was "What was the good thing that SBP just did?" I find it funny that it was my first reaction.

Reading Page 1 of this thread will bring a lot of smiles and laughs.

6 years of preparation still came down to the notorious 2-week practice. LOL
