somewhere, japeth, pogoy and jmf are screaming in terror internally, if the 3 makes the cut for 2023 they will be abused again by Italy

Pogoy has 2 good games out of 6 offensively, plus he's a defensive liability with his lack of length and speed, and getting caught out of position on defense a bit too much. There was a time that I considered Mike Nieto more useful, and I still kinda stand by that.

Mike is 6'2 and has big man strength so valid point

I apologize to June Mar for thinking he shouldn't get a spot based on the previous window.

I still think June Mar should get minor minutes come World Cup time. Get him touches inside, use him for instant offense.

Pogoy did well defensively. He defended Senegal 3pts shooter in crucial by not going under screens reading coverage. This is right after Senegal last 3pts and subbi g Pogoy for CJ

His offense is the problem. No 3 pts shoot made at this tournament. That might leave him of the WC roster.

If true, about bloody time he performed on defense.

My WC 12 if all goes well.

1. Kai C- Prima donna, inconsistent. But before Edu he has been our best eligible in Fiba.
2. JF C - Slow. May asim pa. The guy gives us an inside threat nobody else can. His drop D has improved that he can be a net positive.
3. Edu PF/C - He is our best defender period. He can hit the open 3. We just need to protect him.
4. Jap PF/C - If we only had one other PF with size we could drop him.
5. Malonzo PF/SF - Pretty good all around player. But he can be outmuscled by bigger players
6. Ramos PF/SF - The guy has been consistent. His open 3s are falling. He uses his muscle to body up taller players.
7. JC SF/SG/PG - Will bring our offense to a new level, hopefully
8. Parks SF - At best a utility guy who contributes in a lot of way but at worst a guy who floats at the 3 contributing nothing.
9. CJ SG/PG - His playmaking is still a work in progress but it is improving. He kept us close in this recent Senegal mae.
10. Scottie PG - It's time time for him to show that he can be our lead PG against strong competition

Last 2 spots depending on what we need more:
Kiefer PG - Security blanket in case any of our other PGs do not work out
Abando SF - Spot up shooting option
Newsome PG - Best perimeter defender but perimeter scoring is only better than Thirdys
Pogoy - Showed decent defense tonight but shooting still off against this length

Its true. But the thing is he replaced Kiefer. Kiefer can't defend anybody over 6 feet with decent athleticism. For me him, Kiefer and Abando for the last 2 spot.

I think Keifer is a lock for #11 whether we like it or not.

Hopefully the last spot goes to Abando. If defense will be a premium, then Newsome.

That’s why we still need more than 2 tune up games after this pocket tourney… I hope sbp can find a way to find a tune up opponent when they come back home… after tomorrow game vs Iran, their next tune up game is on august 20… that is 13 days separation… they have to find suitable tune up opponent in that 13 day span before Montenegro game…

Watching the game, CJ Perez was actually blowing by the guards of Senegal with EASE.. problem is finishing since he got so used to playing in the PBA going up against small centers that his usual finishing didn't translate. He usually just outjumps when going up on a layup, now that he is going up against athletic 7 footers he gets blocked multiple times.

If I were coach chot I wouldn’t play Edu tomorrow. Or maybe just make him run through the motions and continue sharpening up his shooting. He had such a workload earlier.

By now he’s all but a shooin. Never mind the offense, that’s just a bonus. Edu’s value lies on his ability to provide the team with a different defensive dynamic, particularly his ability to hedge and recover and defend in open space. No other big can do that. That alone would’ve merited him an 8 mpg WC stint.

This tourney has only solidified himself, not only on the final roster, but in the rotation as well.

See, this is the reason why Gilas should include Ray Parks in the final 12. The same reason why we miss Jordan Heading so much.
